    Peace all,

From my point of view, Alkitab refers to the set of laws that govern our wolrd, these laws are the creator's laws and are studied in the different fields of science.

Here comes the role of "ahl alkitab", which can be translated as "those able/qualified to understand the set of laws". You can see verses that talk specifically to this group of ahl alkitab, and replace the word by "the educated ones" and then see if it fits.

I know you brother, you suddenly jump and try to make others wrong quickly

Please look at what I said, I said "All PROPHETS" was given complete AlKitaab.

The Book was given to the Messengers for handing it over to people. People at large don't get "Book" from Allah straight. Look at the above quoted words of Grand Qur'aan which may perhaps show you the difference.

I understand brother what you are saying, but please have a look at the following

        6114

6114 Shall I seek other than Allah as a judge when He has sent down to you the Book fully detailed? Those to whom We have given the Book know it is sent down from your Lord with the truth; so do not be of those who have doubt.

        1336

1336 And those to whom We have given the Book rejoice at what has been sent down to you, but there are some of the groups who reject parts of it. Say I am only ordered to serve Allah and not set up any partner with Him. Towards Him I implore and towards Him is the return.

        And many more... 2121, 2146, 454, 620, 2852, 2947,

        447

447 O you who have given the Book, believe in what We have sent down authenticating what is with you, before We cast down faces and turn them on their backs or curse them as the people of the Sabbath were cursed. And the will of Allah is always done.

And also remember this aayat brother

        3532

3532 Then We inherited the Book to those whom We selected from Our servants. Subsequently, some of them wronged themselves, and others upheld it partly, while others were eager to work righteousness in accordance with the will of Allah; such is the great benefit.

May Allah guide us all towards the truth pr

          1627

1627 Then, on the Day of Resurrection He will humiliate them, and say Where are My partners regarding whom you used to dispute? Those who have received the knowledge said The humiliation today and the misery are upon the rejecters.

          2254

Oh ok, I thought you are referring to the same.

Then no idea about what you are saying. But still I believe that Allah would have said different word for an "Educated" instead.

Thanks Mkhan for such a good compilation of ayas on this theme. It does help a lot to have a wide and complete picture.

What I get from it is that the book is the knowledge, spiritual knowledge of the divine order of Creation. The complete book is any part of the book that is given by Our Benefactor to anybody at any given time. It is like water. We get all we need. We are given complete water, according to our need and capacity. Water can get contaminated, it is pure water that is still water.

That is the picture I get. We will be judged according to that divine order that was revealed to us.

                  Salaam

I like the way you wrote "We get all we need", this is because Allah knows about His creation, He know what are our capacities to accept and He guides, as He has everything with Him for our guidance and also written in AlKitaab

I didn't really understand the relationship between al kitab and al quran.

41/3 A Book, its signs are detailed , a quran flawless/arabic for a people who know.

So here, al kitab is being describes as a quran. What does that mean?

                            There is no "al".

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

                                Salaam

                                Al-Quraan = The reading.
                                Al-Kitaab = The writing.

Al-Quran is the scripture with 114 surahs. This is the scripture which contains revelations of God. This scripture details everything we need to know, to live a life according to the permanent values in our deen.

Al-Kitaab is the Book of the Universe/Nature/Life/Creation. Everything that happens in the universe will be recorded in this book. Al-Kitaab explains everything. For instance, Al-Quraan tells us that we should give charity. But Al-Kitaab explains in detail, what type of charity is the best type. Another example is the following. Al-Quraan does not explain everything about life. It only explains what we need to know, when it comes to matters of deen. Al-Quraan does not explain how to create a mathematical formula. Or how to build a house. But if people study Al-Kitab (the universe) they can learn these things.

Al-Kitaab is the book that records everything in the Universe. It records everything people have done. As I mentioned above, it is the book of universe.

And AlKitaab was displayed, so you see the criminals fearful of what is in it. And they say Woe to us! What is this AlKitaab that it does not leave out anything small or large but has counted it. And they found what they had done present. And your Lord does not wrong anyone.

And the record was displayed, so you see the criminals fearful of what is in it. And they say Woe to us! What is with this record that it does not leave out anything small or large but has counted it. And they found what they had done present. And your Lord does not wrong anyone. Quran 1849

                                Al-Kitaab is a guidance for Al-Muttaqeen

That is the Book in which there is no doubt, a guidance for Al-Muttaqeen.

Al-Quraan is a guide for mankind

A month of aspiration, in which the Quran was revealed; as a guide to the mankind and clarities from the guidance and the Criterion. Therefore, whoever of you witnesses the month, then let him fast therein. And whoever is ill or traveling, then the same number from different days. God wants to bring you ease and not to bring you hardship; and so that you may complete the count, and glorify God for what He has guided you, that you may be thankful.

So who is Al-Muttaqeen? And why is Al-kitaab only a guidance for Al-Muttaqeen? These are important question we should ask ourselves.

And with Him are the keys of the unseen, none know them except He. And He knows what is in the land and in the sea; and not a leaf falls except He knows of it; nor a seed in the darkness of the earth; nor anything moist or anything dry; all in a clear record.

As we can see from the verse above, Al-Kitaab contains everything. Everything is in this book/record.

This is my current understanding of these two quranic words (Al-Kitaab and Al-Quran).

                                  Peace,

I agree completely with your understanding. I just want to clarify that al-quran is referred to as "A book" (indefinite=kitab), not "The book" (definite=alkitab).

The perspective that you presents imply that the term "ahl alkitab" refers to "those qualified for understanding the book (the universe)". We refer to them nowadays as specialists, scientists, engineers, doctors, shamans, imams, psychologists, priests, magicians... people that have acquired a share of the knowledge about the mechanics of this universe, thus acquiring the power to harness its laws/forces and to make them submit to the human will.

This category of people, which constitutes a small minority during all of human history, have always possessed great powers over the majority of the unlearned. Thus, this group have more responsibilities towards their communities, and can serve them out of goodwill or abuse their ignorance for self-interests. The verses is alquran referring to this group give details about such their obligations, their attitudes,...

Also, we have to consider that this group of people is able TO PREDICT THE FUTURE to a certain extent, in the sense that an engineer knows that when designing, machining and assembling a set of different parts in a specific arrangement, and supplied with some fuel, it can develop some power equivalent to so many horses. The engineer can predict all this by means of calculations, considering the laws of this universe.

                                  Peace

I didn't really understand the relationship between al kitab and al quran.

                                        Salaam,

Thank you for your explanation, I agree with the most part of it but the following

Quran 1849

AlKitaab does not record what people do. There is a difference between "AlKitaab" and "Kitaabak". Please look the following aayaats.

                                        1714
1714 Read your record! It is sufficient for you that you are aware of yourself today.

                                        Here "Kitaabak" is not "AlKitaab".

                                        1771
1771 The Day We call every people by their beacon. Then, whoever are given their book by their right, they will read their book, and they will not be wronged in the least.

Here "Kitaabahu" and "Kitaabahum" is not "AlKitaab".

In same way 1849 is NOT talking about THEIR BOOK, but it talks about AlKitaab.

                                        1849
1849 And AlKitaab was displayed, so you see the criminals fearful of what is in it. And they say Woe to us! What is this AlKitaab that it does not leave out anything small or large but has counted it. And they found what they had done present. And your Lord does not wrong anyone.

You can see that "AlKitaab" is used in both the places in 1849. You may be getting confuse with "And they found what they have done present" part. But it is very clear that it does not say "And they found what they have done present in it". And the waw separates them from the before said.

When they say "Woe to us! What is this AlKitaab that it does not leave out anything small or large but has counted it", I think people who don't believe that AlKitaab explains everything they say so.

May Allah increase us in knowledge and guide us all to His path pr

                                          Salaam brother,

Sure, but I don't understand the relationship between the two.

The only relation between AlKitaab and AlQuraan is in answer to question no.6

                                          1037

1037 This Quran could not have been produced without Allah; it is to authenticate what is between his hands, and details AlKitaab in which there is no doubt, from the Lord of the worlds.

                                          FaSaLa actually means "to separate"

But neither of you answered my question. What does the verse mean? Which kitab is a quran? "A writing whose revelations are detailed, an arabic reading for people who know." What is this this verse referring to and what does it mean?

I will try to translate it for you, inshaAllah.

                                          413

A book its aayaats have been separated, an Arabic reading for a people who know.

The above is how I understand, it has nothing to do with AlKitaab. A book may be referring to AlQuraan which is in a book form with 114 suras.
