    salaam dear Mesmorial,

If you stick to what you observed and do not let the revisionists of Islam convince you that words in the Quran have different meanings that what Muslims have believed for over 1400 years, no one will be able to take away the Five daily prayers from you. They reinvent meanings for words, they claim there are no physical prostrations, but we have a mind and a physical body and prostration is both spiritual and physical. So congatulations for your unbiased research, and beware of this forum where people have completely disconnected with Quran. This is my honnest advice. They destroyed a number of people.
I will add that the afternoon prayer is not only obvious because we can only have a middle with four, but we are commanded to glorify God before the sun's disappearance and it coincides directly with the 'Asr time frame

First proof (20130) So be patient regarding what they say, and celebrate (O Muhammad) the praise(s) of your Lord before the rising of the sun (Dawn Quranic time frame) and before its disappearance (direct intersection with the Afternoon time Quranic frame)?
Second proof (5039) So be patient regarding what they say, and celebrate (O Muhammad) the praise(s) of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before sunset (direct intersection with the Afternoon Quranic time frame).

In other words, the "Middle" 'Asr Salaat is a done deal.
As I said in my articles (summary http//www.islamrevolution.org/salaatsummary.htm, main article http//www.islamrevolution.org/salaatinquran.htm), you cannot pray the Noon prayer at 'Asr. Also what really helps to have a clear understanding of the FIVE Salaat time frames are the FIVE Quranic time frames in a day outlined with absolute precision in the Quran, which happen to match perfectly the FIVE times prescribed for Salaat in the Quran. I quoted them precisely in the articles.

Praise God, Lord of the universe.

    Pierre

U really believe that the quran is a set of rituals that allah gave to prophet Mohamed to give to humanity ?
Or u defending th e rituals because rasha khalfa said it came with TAWATUR ? why do u believe in prayers and not is the other hadiths ?

      Salam to all.
Verse 11.114 in my opinion Allah swt is talking about the two prayers at the end of the day AT THE NEARNESS TO NIGHT. wazullafan is a plural indefinite (Hence the AT, and not The nearness to night) noun - that is used to name or identify a person, place, thing, quality, or action. In this case Allah swt is telling us how to perform the action that is to pray these prayers at the night side of the days.

        Salaam Pierre;

Thankyou and I have looked at the summary of your article. It seems very good although I base my understandings purely on what I read and not on Code 19 because the Qur'an is to be clear. However that is another matter and thanks again. I agree overall with the summary.

"Therefore be patient of what they say, and sing the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before the setting."

        Qur'an 5039

The following ayah provides yet further evidence that it is referring to prayer, but also that glorification is not confined to the prescribed prayer (hence while lying down)

"And glorify Him in the night and after the prayers."

        Qur'an 5040

So in short I am thinking that glorification is to be continued in between and after the specific times mentioned (i.e. salaat times).

          Peace, Simone;

The word "wa" (and) is what makes me to understand it as three prayers. However the verses which to me indicate the night prayer are 3017-18. I accidentally quoted these only as 3017 in my original post.

"Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. Surely you have in the day time a long occupation. And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion."

          Qur'an 76-8

"Then when you have finished the prayer, remember Allah standing and sitting and reclining; but when you are secure (from danger) keep up prayer; surely prayer is a timed ordinance for the believers."

          Qur'an 43

Now the above ayah suggests that remembrance is only different under certain circumstances.

          Thankyou for your insight.

Sorry I meant to put At the nearness to night not And the nearness to night. This word is a Noun indefinite plural why is it plural because Allah swt is giving us a time frame for these two prayers.

              Salaaman brother MesMorial,

?And keep up prayer in the two parts of the day and in the first hours of the night; surely good deeds take away evil deeds; this is a reminder to the mindful.?

              Qur?an 11114

              The above lists three prayers.

The above list only two as per my understanding. 11114 starts with same as in 1778

              11114
              1778

Aqeemi AlSalaata in 1778 and 11114 both words are singular. Talking about single Salaat continues with the duration/length of Salaat.

1778 Hold the contact prayer at the zenith of the sun, until the darkening of the night; and Quraan at dawn; Quraan at dawn is witnessed.

Ila = Until same as in 56, 2187. It talks about the length not separate from one part with another.

Important point to be noted in 1778 is 'Wa Quraana AlFajr'. Quraan simply means reading as in 7517-18 that means 'Read AlFajr' not talking about AlQuraan . It is very clear that 1778 is talking about Salaat. First Eishaan and then Fajr.

Same goes with 11114, that a single Salaat has to be made at the two ends/edges of the day, and another one is at the times of night.

?Bear then patiently what they say, and glorify your Lord by the praising of Him before the rising of the sun and before its setting, and during hours of the night do also glorify (Him) and during parts of the day, that you may be well pleased?

              Qur?an 20130

As you said bro, 20130 is about glorifying not salaat as in 2441 both the words used Salaat and Tasbih.

If you notice timing given to glorify in 20130 is not the timings of Salaat. But 'Qabla Tulu'oo AlShamsi' is after the Salaat-AlFajr and 'Qabla Ghuroobiha' is before the Salaat AlEishan.

?Attend constantly to prayers and to the middle prayer and stand up truly obedient to Allah.?

              Qur?an 2238

This is the fifth prayer, in between the other four. It is when the sun is midway down.

Please have a look at http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9601300.0 for 2238

The Friday prayer is during daytime (a time not otherwise allocated for salaat (by word) in the Qur?an)

?O you who believe! when the call is made for prayer on Friday, then hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave off trading; that is better for you, if you know. But when the prayer is ended, then disperse abroad in the land and seek of Allah?s grace, and remember Allah much, that you may be successful.?

              Qur?an 629-10

              During daytime... but when? At 1000, 1100, 1200, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500? How will you decide?

May Allah guide us all towards the Truth.

                Salaam mmkhan

Just regarding Friday prayer, it would be at midday since this is a specific time allocated as a time for glorification. It could be at 3 pm but midday is most appropriate to the verse because people have more opportunity to go abroad and conduct business whilst a society devoted to Allah (SWT) would opt the earlier time for congregation and not the latter.

                Peace

                  There is a night prayer

"O you who believe! let those whom your right hands possess and those of you who have not attained to puberty ask permission of you three times; before the morning prayer, and when you put off your clothes at midday in summer, and after the prayer of the nightfall; these are three times of privacy for you; neither is it a sin for you nor for them besides these, some of you must go round about (waiting) upon others; thus does Allah make clear to you the communications, and Allah is Knowing, Wise."

                  Qur'an 2458

Now this is distinguished from the sunset/sunrise prayers (as they are interpreted) in 11114. There are at least four prayers according to this logic, along with a middle prayer which is perhaps one of the "parts" of the day (as I interpret it).

Aqeemi AlSalaata may be singular but it is like saying "establish the worship" (i.e. there is one mode of prayer/worship and that is the prayer of the Qur'an). Because of the word "until" I can agree with you on 1778 but not so much with 11114.

                  Peace brother.

                    2238

                    Dear all,

Why are we dragging this subject for so long? Just see 2238. GOD SWT is commanding us to safeguard the SALAWAAT (it is a plural noun, it must be at least 3 salaats) plus/and the SALAATULWUSTAA (the middle salaat).

With careful attention, in order for the SALAWAAT +/and SALAATULWUSTA to have a middle number, then the SALAWAAT must be at least 4. So, the SALAWAAT + the SALAATULWUSTA must be at least 5.

Now, and after the above reasoning one can argue on the timing of each salaat according to other verses of The Qur?aan.

                    Peace,
                    Khalil

                            Salaaman Khalil,

                            2238

                            Dear all,

Brother Salawaat surely is plural that means at least three, but lemme ask you something.

If someone ask you to keep all the books in a rack/shelve and the red one also. How do you understanding this?

When you say ALL BOOKS why not RED BOOK is included in it? Cause, RED BOOK is not with those books, but it was in another place.

Similarly, when Allah said safeguard your AlSalawaat AND AlSalaat AlWusta, that means AlSalawaat is your regular Salaats and AlSalaat AlWusta is NOT included in those Salaats but it is Salaat AlJuma.

                            Another look

                            2458

                            2238

                            "AL" = The

                            Salaat + Al + Fajr - 2458
                            Salaat + Al + Eishaan - 2458

                            Al + Salaat + Al + Wusta - 2238

May Allah increase us in knowledge.

                                Salaaman Khalil,

                                2458

                                2238

                                "AL" = The

                                Salaat + Al + Fajr - 2458
                                Salaat + Al + Eishaan - 2458

                                Al + Salaat + Al + Wusta - 2238

May Allah increase us in knowledge.

The Qur'an does not differentiate between the three prayers and the middle prayer. It tells us to guard them strictly (i.e. constantly) and therefore whether or not the middle prayer is a "normal" prayer we must observe it constantly (like the rest).

                                Peace

                                  Salaaman MesMorial,

I am sorry, I did not understand what you are trying to say, can you please explain.

I am understanding that you observe two prayers per day (one at the ends of the day and one at night)? The ayah I quoted suggests that prayer is a part of the working day, also.

                                  Peace

                                    Hello,

This whole thing about how many times we should pray has become so thoroughly frustrating. I do not speak Arabic therefore I can only read the Quran through translations. I keep seeing the arguments on both sides and I only see three prayers mentioned clearly from what I read and what you all are saying. It seems to me they are just being mentioned over and over again for redundancy. Also, what does a person do when they can't stop and pray at a certain time. I work in healthcare and I can't stop in the middle of administering CPR or dialysis to pray which means I will always miss morning prayer. Please help brothers and sisters your input and insight will be greatly appreciated.

I originally only saw three prayers but if they are not mentioned by name then it does not mean that glorification is not prayer. I only see five now, besides

                                      http//mesmorial.blogspot.com/

It is up to the student (Muslim) to decide what they think is correct, and I for one don't judge.

Morning prayer can be performed from the first ray of light up till the time when the sun has fully risen. It will only take 2 minutes maximum to pray the morning prayer (in its minimal form). If it is absolutely necessary that you not pray, then I imagine this verse can apply (in principle)

"But if you are in danger, then (say your prayers) on foot or on horseback; and when you are secure, then remember Allah as He has taught you, which you did not know."

                                        Salaam Pierre;

                                        Salaam dear brother,

We do not need code 19 to detail the five prayers at all. The five specific times of prayers are all directly written. The is the essence of the Quran.

                                        Peace.

                                        Pierre

                                          Salam to all.
Verse 11.114 in my opinion Allah swt is talking about the two prayers at the end of the day AT THE NEARNESS TO NIGHT. wazullafan is a plural indefinite (Hence the AT, and not The nearness to night) noun - that is used to name or identify a person, place, thing, quality, or action. In this case Allah swt is telling us how to perform the action that is to pray these prayers at the night side of the days.
                                          Respectfully yours
                                          Simone sun

                                          Salaam dear Simone,

(11114) And observe (O Muhammad) the ritual prayer ( &#1614 at both extremities of the daylight ( &#1616, and (&#1608 in the early watches of the night ( verily good deeds repel evil deeds. This is a reminder for those who celebrate (their Lord).

Dawn and Sunset are a mix of Night and Daylight. By contrast in the verse, Night has no more Daylight. We are told to pray "in the early watches of the night" because the Quran tells us there is a Adhan in Islam and we are supposed not to delay Salaat. The night falls completely, we hear the adhan, and we have to pray "at the nearness of the night".

In 11114, we all agree we have to pray "at both extremities of the daylight". The dual expression in 11114 is further precised and mirrored by the one in 20130, where we find the same expression in a regular plural "the extremities of the daylight". This means there are four extremities of the daylight regarding the Dawn and Sunset time frames (crack of Dawn, sunrise, sunset, first darkness at the end of twilight). Dawn and Sunset prayers being so precisely defined, and (&#1608 in the early watches of the night ( &#1616 adds a new information, as the Quran is never redundant, and this new information is that we pray in addition to Dawn and sunset during the Night.
Decisive proofs regarding the Noon, night and afternoon prayers, which nullify in my opinion the 2 or 3 salawat theories, are presented here http//www.islamrevolution.org/salaatsummary.htm. Sorry I don't have more time to say more here directly.

                                          peace.

                                          Pierre
