    Peace be upon you all

Peace Marie, i tried the same line of thought a while ago but I didnt find it reasonable and convincing

You are maybe onto something but, do you know how many verses of the book are in singular?

I can not recall now but i think from the overell impression got from my several years of daily reading the book that the number is too huge to refer only to the prophettake for example the verse 17/36 how can it possibly refer only to the prophet?

Imo all things said to the prophet reffer to all the believers except maybe few which are clearly denoted and clarified as reffering only to him

As for the hemispheres. the fact that there are some places on the earth where the dusk and twilight are irregular doesnt suffices to say 100% that the practice does nt refer to these timesif we would to follow such a logic faithfully then many things would come into question. such a reasoning is imo far from beig soundimo the times are only orientationalof course they are to be followed but imo they( like many other things) reffer to the place and time of revelation where the duration of the day and the night were approximately the same( if this is not a way too assuming).of course like with many other things the conditions and circumstances changes.for example i live in north hemisphere and at the summer when the dawn is way too early(almost immediately after midnight) and the sun is setting too late say 9.p.m i am not governing the performance of the salat according to the sun but i govern my daily salat according to the clock ( i am not 100% sure but i think this is a common sense reasoning)i take the average time of twilight and the dawn during the year and i keep these times faithfully during the summerthe sun is irrelevant. what imo the god wants from me is a regular performanceand i stick to these times until the sunseting is normal in the autunumn

    Best wishes, Zlatan

      Peace Zlatan,

      Thanks for your understanding.

do you know how many verses of the book are ?in singular??

I can not recall now but i think from the overell impression got from my several years of daily reading the book that the number is too huge to refer only to the prophet?take for example the verse 17/36? how can it possibly refer only to the prophet?

Yes, I know there are many verses in singular. I think it is not black or white. We have to consider the context of each verse.
Independently of the verses on the salat , we can not deny that somes verses are directed only to the prophet.

In 11114 and 1738 Allah speaks about " both ends of the daylight and the near part of the night" and the "sun?s decline until the darkness of the night"
I think The ends of the daylight and sun?s decline are not fictitious for other area in earth.

We can differently understand somes verses according to our comprehension of the word salat.

About 1736, Allah speaks initially to the prophet and not directly to me when I read the quran. I follow this verse because I read in 3321

      1. Indeed, in the messenger of God a good example has been set for you for he who seeks God and the Last Day and thinks constantly about God.

The messenger of Allah is a good example through the quran.

I do not think that the idea expressed in this 1736 is not repeated differently in other verses.

      Peace and best wishes

      Marie

        Peace Hafeez,

I am still very critically going over your very excellent research. Here's another comment for you

"Guard your COMMITMENTS and the COMMITMENTS of the MEDIATORS and stand devoutly for Allah and if you FEAR (that you cannot GUARD your COMMITMENTS as a MEDIATOR) then (take the help of) leading personalities or men attending such persons, and when you are in security/sure then remember Allah in the way He hath taught you which ye ever knew not.

The SALAAT AL WUSTA is the COMMITMENTS OF THE MEDIATOR and not the middle prayer."
This exposition of 238-41 is absolutely brilliant.

          PEACE HAFEEZ KHAN

I agree with your analyis that, salaa, means commitments. With this in mind, would you mind interpreting the following ayats? If you've already done this, then please link me to where you did. Thank you.

4101 And when you journey in the earth, there is no blame on you if you shorten the prayer, if you fear that those who disbelieve will cause you distress, surely the unbelievers are your open enemy.

4102 And when you are among them and keep up the prayer for them, let a party of them stand up with you, and let them take their arms; then when they have prostrated themselves let them go to your rear, and let another party who have not prayed come forward and pray with you, and let them take their precautions and their arms; (for) those who disbelieve desire that you may be careless of your arms and your luggage, so that they may then turn upon you with a sudden united attack, and there is no blame on you, if you are annoyed with rain or if you are sick, that you lay down your arms, and take your precautions; surely Allah has prepared a disgraceful chastisement for the unbelievers.

4103 Then when you have finished the prayer, remember Allah standing and sitting and reclining; but when you are secure (from danger) keep up prayer; surely prayer is a timed ordinance for the believers.

            Peace brother priest Bokmei

(this article is totally my understanding of the subject)

            SALAAT AND TRAVEL

And when you travel in the land, there is no SIN on you (AN TAQS.URO MIN AS.- S.ALAAH) to SHORTEN from the prayers IF you fear that the disbelievers may (YAFTINKUM) TEMPT / SEDUCE / SMITE you, verily, the disbelievers are ever unto you open enemies. 4101

This verse and the following are corrupted beyond imagination.

This verse is not revealed in the context of an ordinary travel but in the context of travelling in hostility. During the days of the prophet the hostility between the believers and the disbelievers were round the clock and the disbelievers never missed an opportunity to attack the believers FROM BEHIND, therefore the believers were always alert and carried their weapons when travelling alone or in a group.

They will not fight you (even) together EXCEPT in fortified townships or FROM BEHIND WALLS. Strong is their fighting (spirit) amongst themselves thou wouldst think they were united but their hearts are divided that is because they are a people devoid of wisdom. 5914

Allah says that there is NO SIN if the believers reduced FROM the PRAYERS IF THEY FEAR that the disbelievers might ATTACK them

The Muslims have forgotten the word IF in the verse. They shorten the PRAYERS when they TRAVEL even though there is NO hostility and NO FEAR of the ATTACK of the disbelievers.

            AN TAQSURO MIN AS SALAH

What do we mean by TO REDUCE FROM THE PRAYERS.

What are the contents of the PRAYERS so that we can reduce?

Allah has not provided a single detail of the ritual PRAYER in the Quran then how and what to reduce.

If we read the verse with a little wisdom and go a little deep we understand that, it is a SIN if we SHORTEN from the PRAYERS when there is NO FEAR OF ATTACK of the disbelievers while travelling.

No one has taken the care to understand WHY it is a SIN in NORMAL circumstances to SHORTEN from the prayer. Remember the prayer is established for the REMEMBRANCE of Allah and therefore the SHORTENING or reduction in the REMEMBRANCE of Allah in respect of TIME or UNIT should not be a cause of SIN.

            THEN WHAT IS THAT SIN?

They wish that you reject Faith, as they have rejected (Faith), and thus that you all become equal (like one another). So take not Auliya' (protectors or friends) from them, till they SURRENDER in the Way of Allah (to Muhammad SAW). But if they turn back take (hold) of them and kill them wherever you find them, and take neither Auliya' (protectors or friends) nor helpers from them. 490

EXCEPT those who join a group, between you and whom there is a treaty (of peace), or those who approach you with their breasts restraining from fighting you as well as fighting their own people. Had Allah willed, indeed He would have given them power over you, and they would have fought you. So if they withdraw from you, and fight not against you, and offer you peace, then Allah has opened no way for you against them. 491

If you (O Muhammad SAW) FEAR TREACHERY from any people THROW back (their covenant) to them (so as to be) on equal terms (that there will be no more covenant between you and them). Certainly Allah likes not the treacherous. 858

How (can there be such a covenant with them) that when you are overpowered by them, they regard not the ties, either of kinship or of covenant with you? With (good words from) their mouths they please you, but their hearts are averse to you, and most of them are Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). 98

With regard to a believer, they respect not the ties, either of kinship or of covenant! It is they who are the transgressors. 910

Believers are prohibited to fight with those disbelievers who join a group with whom the believers have a treaty of peace and those who approach them with their breasts restraining from fighting them as well as fighting their own people. Those disbelievers who withdraw from them, and fight not against them, and offer them peace, then Allah has opened no way for them against such disbelievers.

But if the believers fear TREACHERY then they have the right to throw away their covenants of peace treaty and attack them because they respect neither the ties of kinship nor the treaty of peace once they overpower the believers, as the disbelievers are the transgressors.

These are the SALAAT (COMMITMENTS) of FIGHTING and the believers can CURTAIL from the commitments and attack the disbelievers if the believers fear TREACHERY and fear that the disbelievers might attack them, with whom they have a treaty of peace and with whom they have not.

In travel, it is very difficult to know with whom is the treaty of peace and with whom is not.

The permission to attack is only WHEN there is a FEAR of ATTACK.

In PEACEFUL conditions it is a SIN to ATTACK the DISBELIEVERS with whom the believers have a TREATY OF PEACE, because Allah has prohibited it and also prohibited to attack the disbelievers without any valid reason, and those who trespass the limits of Allah are WRONG doers and SINNERS

Fight in the cause of Allah THOSE WHO FIGHT YOU but do not transgress limits; for Allah loveth not transgressors 2190

Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who deal with equity. It is only as regards those who fought against you on account of religion, and have driven you out of your homes, and helped to drive you out, that Allah forbids you to befriend them. And whosoever will befriend them, then such are the Zalimun (wrong-doers those who disobey Allah). 608/9

When thou art with them then establish COMMITMENTS (duties of fighting) for them let one party of them stand up with thee and let them take their arms and when they have SUBMITTED let them take their positions in the rear and let the other party come up which hath not yet COMMITTED and let them COMMIT with thee and let them take their precautions and their arms the unbelievers wish if ye were negligent of your arms and your baggage to assault you in a single rush but there is no sin on you if ye put away your arms because of the inconvenience of rain or because ye are ill; but take (every) precaution for yourselves. For the unbelievers Allah hath prepared a humiliating punishment. 4102

When the prophet is among such travellers then he must (AQAMTA) set up FOR THEM the COMMITMENTS (duties of fighting) and one party should stand with him with the arms and SUBMIT (to the duties of fighting) then let them take their positions in the rear after SUBMITTING. The second party, which has not yet COMMITTED to the duties of fighting, should come forward and COMMIT to the duties of fighting with the prophet.

The word TAQOM stand is not physical standing but allegorical as understood in the following verse.

They ask thy instruction concerning the women. Say Allah doth instruct you about them and (remember) what hath been rehearsed unto you in the Book concerning the orphans of women to whom ye give not the portions prescribed and yet whom ye desire to marry as also concerning the children who are weak and oppressed that (TAQOMO) YOU STAND firm for justice to orphans. There is not a good deed, which ye do but Allah is well acquainted therewith. 4127

Then when ye accomplish the COMMITMENTS (duties of fighting), REMEMBER Allah, standing and sitting and lying on your sides. Then when ye are secure, execute the COMMITMENTS (scheduled remembrance and glorifications of Allah) Verily the COMMITMENTS (scheduled remembrance and glorifications of Allah) are prescribed unto the believers at definite times. 4103

O ye who believe! when ye meet a force be firm and call Allah in REMEMBRANCE much (and often); that ye may prosper. 845

While FIGHTING, Allah should be REMEMBERED MUCH and AFTER fighting Allah should be REMEMBERED while sitting, lying or any position.

Apart from the two PRAYERS, SALAAT Al FAJR and SALAAT Al EISHA and its timings, which are to be observed in the proximity of the night, there are no timings and name of the other three PRAYERS.
Remember when this verse was revealed there was no watch to know the 24 hours time and therefore to know the fixed time of the prayer was next to impossible.

Allah has clearly mentioned the two SALAAT with names and its timings and that can be established without a watch.

And execute the COMMITMENTS (scheduled remembrance and glorifications of Allah) at the two ends of the day and in the proximity of the night. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds that is a reminder for the mindful 11114

The two SALAAT are to be offered in the proximity of the night and this needs no watch. The fixed watch time OF THE FIVE RITUAL PRAYERS changes round the year but the one mentioned by Allah do not change.

            Thanks

I am still digesting your salaat article and up to now has found it to be really fascinating. However I would like to know where you dug the following info from

                You wrote
"In the span of 23 years while the verses of Allah were being revealed, the people asked about many things to the prophet."

"THE COMMANDS WERE REVEALED IN GRADUAL STAGES ADDRESSED TO MANKIND IN MAKKAH IN THE FIRST THIRTEEN YEARS AND THEN IN MADINAH MOST OF THE COMMANDS WERE REVEALED AND ADDRESSED TO THE BELIEVERS. "

"In the first thirteen years of Mecca the SALAAT was offered without any QIBLAH without any MOSQUE, without any ADHAN without any WADHU, without any cleansing from JANABAT.

The verse for WADHU and JANABAT was revealed in Madina. There was no MOSQUE in Mecca for 23 years"

Are we sure about these time spans? Are these cities really the ones where the prophet was staying? Where did you get the info about no mosques, no adhan etc in Mecca initially? How do you know where the verses were revealed?

                Regards

I think brother HK is using information based on traditional sources, and turning it on traditionists, showing it doesn't hold water.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

                    Peace Brother Mozmahe and Wakas

Brother Wakas is 100% correct in his guess that my information is based on traditional sources.

There is no other option left, except to rely on such traditional information when we fail to find in the Noble Quran.

After 1400 years of Islamic era, we are still following conjecture falsehood and inventions WHY? It is only because the truth is buried beneath the heap of lies and people like us who are in search of the truth are trying their level best to come out with the best.

After 1400 years, no Arabic scholar has come forward to explain the following verse, which I think, is utterly nonsense.

JAcALA 'ALLAAH AL- KAcBAH AL- BAYT AL- H.ARAAM QIYAAM(AN) LI- AN- NAAS WA- ASH- SHAHR AL- H.ARAAM WA- AL- HADY WA- AL- QALAA'ID DHAALIKA LI- TAcLAMO 'ANNA 'ALLAAH YAcLAM MAA FE AS- SAMAAWAAT WA- MAA FE AL- 'ARD. WA- 'ANNA 'ALLAAH BI- KULL SHAY' cALEM 597

Allah made the Ka'ba the Sacred House an asylum of security for men and the Sacred Months and the animals for offerings and the garlands that mark them that ye may know that Allah hath knowledge of what is in the heavens and on earth and that Allah is well acquainted with all things. 597

Is Kaaba the Sacred House made / appointed for
                    THE PROHIBITED / FORBIDDEN MONTHS
                    FOR THE OFFERINGS
FOR THE GARLANDS AROUND THE NECK OF THE OFFERINGS.

WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP OF KAABA THE SACRED HOUSE WITH THE PROHIBITED / FORBIDDEN MONTHS, THE OFFERINGS AND THE GARLANDS?

It is impossible to find the time span of the prophet and thus we have to rely on the information of the traditionalist. Even the birthday of the prophet is suspicious.

Among the cities I think Medina is the city where the prophet migrated but I am doubtful about Mecca although I have mentioned in my article only for explanation purposes. My own belief is that the prophet migrated from a place in Jordan supported by numerous verses of the Quran. You can find it here http//www.free-minds.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=997&start=50

The traditionalist themselves have admitted that the first mosque was built in Medina

Early Developments of a Masjid (Mosque)

In the Qur'an the word Masjid, although used many times, is only applied to three specific buildings the Masjid al Haram (ka'ba), the Masjid al Aqsa (Jerusalem) and the Masjid built at the oasis site called Quba, south-east of Medina. This was the FIRST MASJID of Islam after the advent of Prophet Mohammad (s).

                    Masjid at Quba

Dating from the time of the Prophet, the Masjid of Quba is considered the FIRST MOSQUE built by the Prophet and his followers. In the Qur'an (sura 910 there is a mention of the first public Masjid built at the place called Quba. Situated about 3 miles south-east of Medina, this oasis was the first place where the Prophet rested before entering Medina.

                    www.victorynewsmagazine.com/

                    Quba Mosque

The Quba Mosque (Quba' Masjid or Masjid al-Quba) just outside Medina, Saudi Arabia, is the
FIRST ISLAMIC MOSQUE that was ever built. Its first stones were positioned by the prophet Muhammad on hijrah (journey) from the city of Mecca ("Makkah") to Medina and the masjid was completed by his companions.

It is this mosque that is called the Masjid al-Taqwa in the Quran

"There is a mosque whose foundation was laid from the first day on piety; it is more worthy of thy standing forth (for prayer) therein. In it are men who love to be purified; and Allah loveth those who make themselves pure" .

                    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
                    Retrieved from "http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quba_Mosque"

The traditional proof that Adhan was not introduced in Mecca

                    Bukhari 1578 Ibn 'Umar
When the MUSLIMS arrived at MEDINA, they used to ASSEMBLE for the PRAYER, and used to GUESS the time for it. DURING THOSE DAYS, the PRACTICE of ADHAN for the PRAYERS had not been INTRODUCED yet. Once they discussed this problem regarding the call for prayer. Some people suggested the use of a bell like the Christians, others proposed a trumpet like the horn used by the Jews, but 'Umar was the first to suggest that a man should call (the people) for the prayer; so Allah's Apostle ordered Bilal to get up and pronounce the Adhan for prayers.

The concrete proof, "that there is no ADHAN", is that it is not found mentioned in the Quran.

No one can know where the verses were revealed; we have to rely on the present form of Quran.

Presently, the time span doesn't matter, but what matters is whether Adhan for the prayers is sanctioned in the Quran or not, whether the Qiblah is physical or not, whether the prophet migrated from Mecca or not (this will eliminate Kaaba), whether the mosque is physical and approved by Allah for ritual prayers or not, and whether the prayers are ritual or not as understood and performed by the Muslims.

Except the time span the rest can be proved from the Quran.

                    Thanks

                      Peace HK,

Well, you see I have a lot of trouble following the english language of the article. The absence of punctiation marks like commas make it tedious. Mind you, I do not have any issues yet concerning the description of Swalaat based on the Quran. Let me commend you for this. That was indeed the best explanation of swalaat I have come across.

However, I have a mother of over 60 years who is going to read that. So I need to understand the article first before answering the questions she might ask. Moreover I need to insert punctiation marks where appropriate, else she will not be be able to understand any of it.

So, I am going to put all these in your article before giving it to her as English is not our mother tongue.

Thank you @hafeez kazi for your exceptional work!

                        Amazing!

One wonders how is it possible that the Qur'an got SO distorted in interpretations, traditions, sects etc etc...

                          Salaam

Not sure of many of your deductions since many do not seem to understand 'muhammad' and one misunderstanding of a word can lead to a host of misunderstandings.

                          Joe

And what DOES it mean, Joe? ???
