Okay I am trying to tackle an issue that frankly just pisses me off to no end, and as stated in my intro has pushed me very close to just living Islam.

How does one come to this conclusion from Quran? I got this from the answering -christianity website, which thrives on hadith crap.

Let us look at the following Noble Verses from the Noble Quran

"So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment. Verily for the Righteous there will be a fulfilment of (the heart's) desires; Gardens enclosed, and grapevines; Companions of equal age; (The Noble Quran, 7830-33)"

"...Of the Gardens will be Near....In them will be (Maidens), chaste, restraining their glances, whom no Man or Jinn before them has touched. (The Noble Quran, 5554, 56)"

1- The believing wives of the believing husbands will be as beautiful as the maidens or houris in Heaven, and they will be large-eyed maidens for their husbands.

2- The man can choose from any maidens he desires.

3- The single believing men and women who get admitted to Paradise can marry and live happily in Paradise since there will be "husbands" and "wives". See Noble Verses 5220 and 4454 and the comments/analysis about them above.

4- A man can have wives and maidens. A woman can have only one husband. The maidens for the man will be of equal age and are never touched or seen by any man or jinn.

I noticed in the translation here it states
7833 And grapes that are ripe.
    Vs
    78.33 (Yusuf Ali)
and young full breasted maidens or equal age

Can someone show me how you got grapes? Which actually make more sense in the passage. Anyway I appreciate any help on this. As I said it is a REAL issue for me even though many say I am petty for worrying about such things. However, they have not been hurt they way I have in my childhood and young adulthood by sick lustful men!

PM Layth as he is the translator

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

What does really "fulfilment of desires" mean, at that point. I mean here you are training your soul to behave nicely, and eventually one appreciates the ways of God, and maybe has few desires. Maybe none.

So is it maybe just a way of hoping for sex in heaven, when one is miserable, to get shaytans to convert to religion, and leaving this thinking later, or is there actual lovers in heaven?

What do you have to promise a people, to have them remove 360 idols? For the love of the greater good, and annihilation of evil.

Islam in many ways is a roadmap. From idolatry to the praises of God. Im not saying that this neccesarily is untrue though. But doesnt one tire of physical existence? Paradise to me, would seem like the nature of God himself. A kind of nirvana, without wants, timeless, spaceless. All-knowing. Maybe this is where we go when we die? In the mean time, one may experience heaven and/or hell on the way..

This is how I am appreciating aspects of Islam these days. I`m thinking of Gabriel, or Mohammed, as a master who truly gained insight into how to change a world.

So there are things in the Quran, that I find hard to believe. Such as Jesus blowing life into a clay bird.
However if this is what was neccesary to state, to remove idolatry, which is the worst form of oppression of human nature, from the world, then it be stated.

I guess one could have a one sentence religion "Consciousness is God" and end there. But that wouldn`t do much. It seems you need the stories, you need the content. You need to make a big impact, and sell the worlds biggest story. You need to make the biggest change in a man, make him believe. In miracles, and eternal life. And all this with the potential result of world peace! That would be the greatest achievement one could do, and self-care, by the immanent God, for the immanent God. And religion is a creation. If a world is created from where there was nothing, surely a few stories can be created aswell..

              Dear Sister Indelwyn,

              Question/?

Can you show me a verse or verses in The Qur'an that talks about SEXUALITY/GENDER or MARRIAGE/NIKAAHH regarding The HEREAFTER/AL'AAKHIRAH?

What I meant by the above question is, according to The Qur?an in The Hereafter our physiological/biological structure is going to be quite different from this Earthly one.

In this Earthly life, because of the natural law of ?ENTROPY? which causes the whole material world to age and eventually die out, we need to reproduce, because all living things die according to their life span. Sexuality is an evolutionary phenomenon necessary in serving the needs of Earthly living creatures, not to become extinct as species.

According to The Qur?an, in The Hereafter we will be eternal and will not die at all, so there isn?t going to be any need for reproduction, so there isn?t going to be any need for SEXUAL activity, so there isn?t going to be any need for MARRIAGE/NIKAAHH.

And I personally believe that there isn?t going to be any sexuality, be either ?MALE? or ?FEMALE?.

I am not saying that, the Hereafter is going to be an immaterial realm. What I?m trying to say is that, in the Hereafter our physiological/biological build is going to be different from this very present phase of our existence.

In The Qur?an God Almighty, repeatedly and very frequently, Puts most emphasis on the reality of the Hereafter by vividly describing the Paradise with all kinds of good Earthly like provisions, made readily available for the enjoyment of the believers.

On the other hand, Hell is also described with the most painful Earthly experience, i.e., burning in fire.

According to The Qur?an the Hereafter is the extension of this very present Universe. It is going to evolve out of this very present world. Coming of the Hereafter is not a philosophical opinion. It is a fact. It is an inevitable future event. So it is certainly a real/physical and awesome event.

All I believe is that the governing Natural/PHYSICAL laws of the Hereafter is going to be completely different from the physical laws of this present Universe, and I?m not saying that just out of whim. We read in The Qur?an that in the Hereafter there is no more death, water doesn?t get polluted, and the taste of milk does not change, and so forth.

              Peace,
              Khalil

                    Hello Indelwyn,

Ive got a few links here that might be of help to you if you wish to review the text by yourself.

First one is more than a dussin different translations together of the verse in question
                    http//www.islamawakened.com/Quran/78/33/default.htm

Second one is a word by word analysis of the verse
                    http//corpus.quran.com/wordbyword.jsp?chapter=78&verse=34

Its all in english so you should be able to get a somewhat decent bearing on the general meaning of it, God willing.

My personal opinion on the progressive muslim translations is that sometimes they appear to me as being very forced and dishonest in the sense of being afraid of having anything stand out as being incompatible with western ideology.
I could not possibly understand how difficult it must be for you to deal with things that to you might appear as sexually opressive considering your past experiences. However to me the whole context just states of having attractive companions, which is nice. I dont think ive ever gotten the notion of anything unjust anywhere in the quran regarding this particular issue. I believe this somewhat tesifies to how strongly our own interpretations are influenced by our own state of mind and experiences and so in turn our understanding.
I have of course had issues with other verses that to me seemed difficult to grasp and to this day i still cant give a proper (honest) explanation for. But the fact remains that reading the Quran affects me like no other book ever can and allways and allways grants me peace of mind and speaks the truth.
It's just a suggestion that, maybe you should try pondering on this and what the book really means to you. Dont rush to understand everything. There are just so many factors involved.

Trust God and ask HIM of the guidance. Easier said than done i know ), especially when ones soul is burdened. But really. If i ever were to give my two cents on anything )

                      Thank you for the links.

I suppose it does not bother you if you are male. But young full breasted women are not attractive to me, I am a woman.

For me, I have the same mindframe as Khalil. Heaven is above human needs as we know them here. But thank you all so much!!

Grapes seem to have been taken as someone else seems to have thought this

This is the description of would-be-wife and not something "extra".

                            Dear Sister Indelwyn,

                            Question/?

Can you show me a verse or verses in The Qur'an that talks about SEXUALITY/GENDER or MARRIAGE/NIKAAHH regarding The HEREAFTER/AL'AAKHIRAH?

                            But Al-Quran talks about wives.
"Sexuality" and "Nikah" is already in it.

For example, when someone says, "She is my wife." It means he made her his wife after Nikah, and he has Sex with her.

                            Any Proof from Allah!

Man/woman has always wanted to get more and more of the Bounties of Allah given to them in this earthly life.
But here, in this earthly life, they have been forbidden to use up more than their necessity.

And one who keeps himself/herself within that limitation, and gives out what is more than his/her basic needs, he/she would be given in abundance in The Hereafter, whatever is desired, and even more than that.

                              And elevated/honored in ranks companions/wives.

It is a fact that We have resurrected/revived them/wives, in the manner of anew creation,

thereby/for reason We made them virgins,

This is an interesting topic, and this post might start taking the topic a little off-course.

At a gathering of more fundamentalist-minded Muslims, this topic of bounty in Paradise was brought up. The speaker mentioned the wine and the women that would be available to the righteous upon arrival. My initial question was why these activities are considered to be so sinful in the NOW, yet they will be the reward for the Believers in Paradise.

My initial insight was that maybe this behavior is acceptable in Paradise because our physical realm is inherently corrupt. It's not so much the act of zena (spelling?) and boozing that is bad, but the sheer corruption (and by that, our illusory separation from God) that makes it unhealthy. As might be expected, I couldn't get a satisfactory answer as to why the same activities are sinful on Earth, yet a reward in Paradise.

                                  Greetings and Peace, all group

Please look at the highlighted text

1335 The example of the Paradise which the righteous are promised, is that rivers flow beneath it, and its provisions are continuous as is its shade. Such is the abode of those who were righteous, while the abode of the rejecters is the Fire.

4715 Is the example of the Paradise; that the righteous have been promised with rivers of pure water, and rivers of milk whose taste does not change, and rivers of wine that are delicious for the drinkers, and rivers of strained honey, and for them in it are all kinds of fruits, and a forgiveness from their Lord; like that of those who abide in the Fire, and are given to drink boiling water that cuts-up their intestines?

Paradise will have neither grapes nor full breasted women, ISA. We are given the ~example~ of Paradise only in terms that we can understand. AQ states "example" so that we know that the information is not literal. Paradise is a "good" place to be and hell is a "bad" place to be is the gist of the matter. The specifics are not for our knowledge, except as ALLAH allows.

May ALLAH see fit to guide all seekers.

                                  peace

                                  ~Abdul-Hadi
