Absolutely right, and yet, if we were to try and show them the circular logic, I doubt it would work as they would simply label us as kufar!

Yup.. that's how they work. Disagree?? Kuffar!!
Please understand that they're being brainwashed since they were a little toddler.. and within the back of their mind they have this 'fear' of being 'converted from the religion of truth' and being 'condemned to hell for all eternity', IF they agree to your idea.

I was born Sunni thus I know them very well..

But of course not all sunnis are like that.. some of them does 'think straight'.

I was born sunni too, Jaffar, and my family still is, although fairly "liberal" (even though I hate that term because it suggests that they're just not good muslims). Entrenched ideas take a lot of time and effort to come free, you're right.

I might join you, although I am worried about taking it too far and they may just kick us out. I think you're right - we have to be a little sneaky and put forward our arguments through clear logic. Thanks for the heads up!

S.S94 is on this forum too, nice person. I like the first response to her question

I await more competent people to answer your questions above.

However for the record and for others who will come across this thread it should be noted that your thinking and questioning clearly displays that you are a person without knowledge and one who lacks any credible academic qualification.

You intend to understand a entire science using your own reasoning but in what you have expressed are ignorant.

I am also there under an alias. A strange phenomena I noticed that if you accuse them of not being strict enough they have a tendency to listen. Management by fear works good in the sunni forum

            Salam,

I was born in a sunni family. My family is pretty liberal too. I mean, when they do something or say something regarding Islam, if I show them otherwise from the Qur'an, they do not speak against it just to fit in with the rest of the "ummah". If you speak from the Qur'an, they hear and they obey. I dont get much time with them since we dont live together and live thousands of miles apart. But I pray to Allah to guide them like this, so that they stay this way and never reject Allah's ayaat.

I think you can google out islamic websites and discussions forums and most of them are by nature infected with hadith indoctrination.

I hope ,when you meet them, you treat them nicely and share your views with wisdom and nice preachings

            Peace be on you

Yup.. it took me at least 15 years..

And also remember that; People generally doesn't value other people opinion, they will value their own opinion..
Shape up your argument in a way that they themselves will draw the conclusion....
We can only open the door, they themselves are the one who must walk through it...

                  Wrong start..

Why don't you start another topic of discussion around

                  1. How should we recite the Shahada'?
                  2. What are the implication for those who did not properly recite the Shahada?
                  3. Does Shahada required in order to be Muslim?
                  4. How does the His Majesty Messenger Of God Muhammad pbuh (Sayiddina Muhammad Rasullulah Salllalhu Allaihi Wassalam) recite his Shahada?
                  5. How does the previous prophets recite their Shahada?
Post the point above once at a time, take it gently.. Improvise your own..
Remember.. people will only value their own opinion.. do not jump into conclusion too quickly.. let them think on their own...

Hey guys! Been gone for awhile, but back. Missed you all

I love the comment about if it is a tradition from a non-muslim country.... WTH.

No offense to anyone, but I have seen some Egyptian traditions that make my head spin. So if a Muslim country has Mother's day like Egypt then it is okay? but not in a western culture.. ..lol

I hate how ppl think Islam is crawling under a rock. But nice topics, I am enjoying and wonder how did I ever manage being a sunni??? I guess when you convert it takes awile to get your feet wet.

Welcome back...I was away myself for a while busy with Egyptian Sunis who were trying to hijack the country.

Being arround free-minds is fun but I strongly believe we all need to be out there debating in the Suni forums so we can expose them to their readers.

Guess I should not show up there and tell them the kids and I are going trick or treating! &

My kids and I go out, greet our neighbors and ask them if they need anything, not just take candy and run. My kids get to know the community. Then when they get home we keep some of the candy and donate the rest to the Ronald MacDonald House. They give the candy to the children staying there.

Through this process... My sunni hubby has a litter of kittens. Any one want a kitten just contact me.

The thing that gets under my skin is the statement that crops up time and time again on the sunni forums

                              "science of the hadith

Are they for real? Apparently a body of contradictory laws and an amalgam of personal stories that were collated centuries after the event and passed on through chains of people is science apparently.

It's interesting. After CERN posted their findings on the neutrino being faster than the speed of light, they had their results tested agin and again, and then tested once more by peer review. THAT is science.

I know it's different and the analogy is tenuous, but there is a point there. Science is not Oh yeah, that dude said this and he heard it from that other dude and I know that guy, he's chill, so I'm pretty sure it's all good.

Have you guys heard of the "story" that sunni's tell when asked about the "science of hadith"? Bukhari once went to interview a man about a particular hadith. He saw him in the distance wrestling with his horse, who was being stubborn. In order to entice the horse, the man pretended to take an apple from his bag and managed to get the horse to calm down a bit. There was no apple. Bukhari saw this 'lie' and therefore knew that the man was not trustworthy enough to interview. Thus science o (apparently)

(This story was told to me by a classmate who was taking all science subjects and studying to be a doctor. He too, was under the belief that this act was equal to some kind of "science&quot

Bukhari, not Muhammad, has become the "messenger" to too many people.

                              End rant.

                                  THAT'S SCIENCE!!

That dude said he heard it from 'fulan' (May God Bless His Soul) who heard it from another 'fulan' (May God Bless His Soul) who heard it from another 'fulan' (May God Bless His Soul) who heard it from another 'fulan' (May God Bless His Soul) that one of Mohammad (May God Bless His Soul)'s companion named 'fulan' (May God Bless His Soul) said...

I'm amazed how does Bukhari mantain the integrity of narration to (so many) dead people.
Answer He must have an ability to communicate with the dead..

Yup.. it's a hadith about the one who collected the hadith..
You should ask your classmate regarding the chain of narration of that hadith about the one who collected the hadith.

We don't know for sure whether it's actually Bukhari who wrote all that junk..
We even don't know whether the 'hadith' as we have today is the same 'hadith' within the lifetime of Bukhari.
Who knows along the way some 'creative' scholars injected their own ideas into the hadith and claim it with Bukhari name.

                                      Correction It's actually
That dude said he heard it from 'fulan' (May God Bless His Soul) who heard it from another 'fulan' (May God Bless His Soul) who heard it from another 'fulan' (May God Bless His Soul) who heard it from another 'fulan' (May God Bless His Soul) that one of Mohammad (May God Bless His Soul)'s companion named 'fulan' (May God Bless His Soul) said...

                                      rotfl rotfl

Yup.. it's a hadith about the one who collected the hadith..
You should ask your classmate regarding the chain of narration of that hadith about the one who collected the hadith.

                                      INCEPTION o A dream within a dream...

The question that comes up again and again (and on the sunni forum that is heating up now) is that soooo many scholars have come to the conclusion about the hadiths legitimacy. How can so many scholars be wrong?

To be honest, this baffles me too. How can so many people not have seen the most obvious thing. (occams razor).
