Why do some muslims have a negative view of the sabbath?

God would not have really "rested" on the seventh day, he would have just stopped.
No where does the bible say God was tired and he took a break, He simply stopped his work on the 6th day, obviously, and was not working on the seventh day.

The uses of the Hebrew word AND its Arabic Cognate, on some circumstances, would mean "Stop/idle"

God Almighty made our sleep IDLE (sibata ~ root word S-B-T) (Quran 789)

and some raised the notion that the sabbath is fabricated!
1)Why would the CHildren of Israel make such a commandment upon themselves of not working on the 7th day?

    1. Why would the Children of Israel make other commandments that are seemingly synergetic to the sabbath, as
2b) Not working the land on the 7th year (sabbitical year)
      2c) Year of Jubilee (7x7 +1)

Sabbath is mentined in the Qur'an as the day when Jews were prohibited from catching fish and that was the day when there were fish most available on surface so this was a test of their restraint as I understand it. However the count of days where everday sun rises and sets is the one that was created by God during the six days of the Creators count.
      Peace

Peace be with you as well,

What about the historical perspective of Jews observing the sabbath for thousands of years, and before, during, and after the revelation of the Quran, and during the time where Muhammed must have came in contact with Jews? (543)

Why did not God Almighty correct them?

After all, the Quran sheds light unto the many things that the Children of Israel are disputing about (2776)

Moreover, notice that it is "transgresss IN the sabbath" (4154) and for yuor citation, it was the communnity which transgressed IN the sabbath (7163)

In 7163 it clearly talks about the day of THEIR SABBATH (Yawm Sabtihom)

If you take the word sabath as a verb to mean idle/stop, it might just make a better fit, as it is used even in the Quran, as another variation of the root word (S-B-T)
God Almighty made our sleep IDLE (sibata) (Quran 789)

          OMG here we go again!

Qur'an is the commentary on the Bible! It builds on it!!!
God's Ten Commandments do not change! And the Fourth is keep the Shabbat and keep it holy! It was imposed before the giving of the Torah and it is for all humanity!
Christian trinitarian cults changed it and Islam changed it...

          http//www.ccg.org/english/s/p274.html

and also about Juma'ah, preparing for the Sabbath

          http//www.ccg.org/english/s/p285.html

Anyway it is obvious that the humanity failed with everything that any religious system proposed ever!

Yes God Submitter, I believe that's correct, that the fourth commandment says to honor the Sabbath. Many Christians do not do this, ironically while claiming that Christianity is based on the Ten Commandments. Now I cannot speak for Muslims, or what the Koran might say.

I do know that I keep the sabbath as a choice, because it's something my people have done in his honor, and I want to honor him. That's just me.

The core Commandments are given at the begining of the second chapter of the Qur'an
23Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them,
24 And who believe in what has been revealed to you, , and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain .
Sabbath in the Qur'an is mentioned in connection with the Jewish religion, not as a Commandment for muslims.
              Salaam/Peace

Muslims are not obligated to keep the sabbath

"the Sabbath was ordained only for those who came to dispute about it ; but, verily, God will judge between them on Resurrection Day with regard to all that which they used tgo dispute about". (16124)

Oh I'm not saying its for Muslims to keep. No, Muslims obviously accept the Koran as a more recent revelation, and isn't based on the 10 Commands like Judaism and Christianity claim to be.

I wonder though if a Jew that becomes a Muslim should still keep the sabbath if they feel it is right?

Mayb a mixture of both like this hmm
I am not sure what you mean by 'keeping the Sabbath'. if you mean taking a day off work then many Middle Eastern countries give a holiday on Fridays, but shops are still open for business after Jummah prayers. Maybe for them office work does not fall under 'seeking the bounty of Allah'. However other countries like Turkey and Pakistan take Sunday as official holiday and many shops remain open for business.
629 O you who have believed, when is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah , then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew
6210 And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allah , and remember Allah often that you may succeed.

Farida ok so you don't reckon that the Friday thing might not be a changing of the sabbath then, much like Muhammad changed the prayer direction from Jerusalem to Mecca?

I hate to suggest such a thing, but this is for the sake of the discussion. I am asking you from an Islamic perspective.

Actually, there should be no "mixing of commandments"

I myself have tried to keep Torah commandments like keeping the sabbath, wearing cloths made of 1 type of material, abstaining from more food types, maybe thinking that it would be "extra credit".... However, that would not be the case

"Then we revealed to you this scripture, truthfully, confirming previous scriptures, and superseding them. You shall rule among them in accordance with GOD's revelations, and do not follow their wishes if they differ from the truth that came to you. For each of you, we have decreed laws and different rites. Had GOD willed, He could have made you one congregation. But He thus puts you to the test through the revelations He has given each of you. You shall compete in righteousness. To GOD is your final destiny?all of you?then He will inform you of everything you had disputed." (54
