I disagree with you. Some are prevented From understanding " Qoran" even if they are " Arabic".
It is God who teaches / explains the Qoran. The language is irrelevant.
4144 If We made it a non- Arabic Koran,( scripture) they would have said why did it come down in that language.( Whatever language GOD chooses, there is always those who want it in a different one?) Whether it is Arabic or non-Arabic ( It happens to be Arabic because the messenger was Arab! GOD sent the Torah in Hebrew, the language of the children of Israel and Jesus spoke Aramaic ,so the Gospel came in Aramaic) Say? For those who believe, it is a guide and healing; As for those who disbelieve, they will be deaf and blind to it ( Even if they were pure Arabs!) as if they were addressed from far away.? ( Nowadays no language is a barrier! The message is more important than the language! More importantly if GOD is the author, HE guides with HIS words those who choose to be guided?)

People who are fluent in Arabic fail to see the truth because they seem to concentrate more on "reciting" it rather than "reading" it to make sense of it.

I disagree, a person can translate one language to another based on meaning of words and nothing to do with hadith, just the same as any other literature can be translated to another language based on the meaning of words.
Unfortunately, the initial translators translated alQuraan on the basis of hadith, then all fellow translators follow them, they are are actually copies of the same initial translations with minor changes.
I do however agree that many translations do have "meanings" placed in () such as the many translations some people here have used.

Again, learning to read it without understanding what you are reading is nowhere near going to help. Learning the Arabic letters is pretty easy, learning the meaning of all of it isn't. I like the corpus Quran for the reason it gives word by word instead of throwing in someone else's meaning to it.

Same here, I do not know arabic. I mostly read the English translations. As for the differences in translations, it will be the same thing even if you knew arabic. Since the translations are done by professional people who know arabci, they still differ. Which means, even if you knew arabic, you might think of a verse differently than the other person.
What I have discovered is, once you start reading the Quran regularly, you will know its message as a whole. Its key messages. What small small differences in translation we have, you will be able to come to understand it by reasoning and logic. There are lots of verses which deal with the same subject. Hence, you will not go too far from its meaning by a single mis-translation. And you would immediately notice it. I think we just need to STUDY the Quran as a whole book.
Red Do you really think so? They know Arabic which is used in Arabic grammar courses or books. They surely don't know the Arabic of alQuraan.
Blue Why there is a different understanding? This is because of lack of knowledge, it has nothing to do with Arabic grammar.
Green True, but when you start reading 'alQuraan' and translations of alQuraan is NOT alQuraan. BTW, small small differences? Translations will deviate you totally from the path of Allah. They don't even know what they wrote.
You must know and understand how the words is used in alQuraan to know its exact meanings. As I said above, it needs at least reading of alQuraan to differentiate the usage of words used in alQuraan.

Peace everyone!! I apologize for not responding earlier. My six month old is keeping me on my feet with sleep deprivation included. I also needed some time to read each and every response.

Okay, so it seems like I'm doing okay then. I am reading through translations and I will continue doing that. However, on the side, I am also learning how to read and write in Arabic. Yes, and the good deeds part is important too of course as God expects to enjoin with others in good works (community service, charity, etc).
I like the idea of using my multiple translations to cross reference, as this lessens the probability of perhaps adopting a twisted word meaning. We have a huge collection of Quran translations since my husband has decided that he needs to own every single translation out there. That probably shouldn't be a problem even if the internet were down.
Thank you all for the websites that you provided as well. I am familiar with some of them, but I really need to adopt a method and stick with it, otherwise I will be all over the place.
Ayisha and Ahmed, I can totally relate to you guys. Yes, I agree in regard to studying it as a Whole Book.

revealed in Arabic but God promised to be its teacher (551-2), and the One to explain it
(7519).God told us in verse 4144 that language is irrelevant and that only the sincere
ones will understand the Quran irrespective of their language. On the other hand those
who are not sincere or do not worship God Alone will fail to understand it, even if they
speak, read and write Arabic (5679).Satan designed his game to suit all kinds of Muslims to keep them away from
understanding the Quran. Satan knows that reading the Quran by itself does not
guarantee understanding it. Satan knows that God is in control and that no one will
understand the Quran unless God lets him or her. The best trick that Satan can come up
with is to get the people to believe him instead of God. Once they do, they are prevented
from understanding the Quran. God does not accept any partners.Here is the game Satan has been playing and seems effective on those who failed
to worship God Alone or accept God?s book Alone.(1) If your mother tongue is Arabic, Satan (or his troops) teaches you that the Quran
is written in a very sophisticated Arabic so that you cannot understand it on your own.
That you need someone who is very knowledgeable in Arabic to explain it to you. The
Arabic speaking person would then give up reading his/her Quran in Arabic waiting for
the chance to find the knowledgeable person.
If you ask your Arabic speaking friends how they find the language of the Quran
they will tell you, DIFFICULT. Go ahead and ask them. But what is God telling us
about the Quran and the language of the Quran? (See 5417, 22, 32, and 40). Why do
they have difficulty? (See 5679 and 4144).(2) If your mother tongue is not Arabic, Satan (or his troops) will encourage you to
read the Quran in Arabic. Why does he do that? Because he knows that you will not
understand enough of it.
The majority of those who learn Arabic to study the Quran do not excel enough to
understand the implication of interpretation of certain words when used in a special way
in the Arabic language. They will have a lot of shortcomings. Many Pakistani and
Indian Muslims are forced as children to read the Quran in Arabic and still as adults read
the Quran in Arabic but they do not understand a single word of what they read.(3) If you do not speak or read Arabic and try to read a translation of the Quran to get
the message, Satan (or his troops), will tell you NO, NO, you have to read the Quran in
Arabic. Remember what Satan told those who know how to read the Quran in Arabic, he
told them, that the Quran is in a difficult Arabic text. Satan tells you, you will never get
the message of the Quran if you read it in a translation.The result is that the Arabic speaking person does not read the Quran in Arabic
because he/she believes Satan and thinks the Quran is too difficult to read. Those who do
not speak Arabic will try to read the Quran in Arabic would not understanding it. They
think the blessings of the Quran come by just reading it (not by understanding it and
accepting its message). Those who tried to read the translation of the Quran in their
native language will fall in the same trap of Satan if they believe that they cannot get the
message of the Quran by reading a translation. Satan would discourage them so that they
end up not reading the Quran in any language.In all these circumstances Satan will succeed in keeping some Muslims away
from getting the message of the Quran. One simple mistake these Muslims or non-
Muslims do, they believe in the promises of Satan instead of believing God. In that case
they deserve to be with him (Satan), where there is no Quran, no light and no guidance.
We should understand Satan?s game so that we can fight it. We need to read the
Quran to understand it, not to read it without understanding it, like donkeys carrying
valuable books. (625)The Quran is a message, not just another beautiful language book. If you cannot
read it in Arabic, do not wait until the day you excel in you Arabic language, because that
day may never come. Trust God and know that God is the teacher of the Quran. God
will teach it in any language and to any nationality. God knows our innermost thoughts
and convictions. God created all things. Do not wait any longer. Read your Quran
today, in any language that you can understand and master and leave the rest to God.Referenced Verses
None can grasp it except the sincere.

The question is so refreshing because only 85% of Muslims speak Standard Arabic and only 0.001% have studied Ancient Arabic - so very few people on this planet can fully comprehend the words in the Koran. Most Muslims, in my experience, know only a few sentences and expressions and get by quite happily. They believe the first hadith qudsi which states that mercy prevails over wrath.
What is hilarious is that people come up with their own, personal versions of religion, where the gospels were written in Aramaic and not Greek and "dahaha" = "egg-shaped". Too funny.
Would a supreme being really condemn someone to eternal hell who really tries to get everything right and fail them on pronunciation?

I do not believe that God would condemn a person to hell if he or she made an effort to learn something but failed in some aspects. Don't our intentions count for anything?
Yes, I do know that very few have knowledge of classical arabic, and even then there are variations of it. Perhaps, it's up to us to investigate the Truth, however we can. Though, I still think that one can worship and please their creator by relying on translations and and attempting to derive the best possible interpretation. I hope I made sense. Terribly sleep deprived.

Something which i would like to highlight like others did (which Arabic speakers would miss upon) is the QURANIC ROOTS
The Quran is made of aroung 80k words, however, these 80k words are made of around 2k root words.
If you speak arabic, look at the Quranic roots, and see their usages.... if you don't know a word, look at it's root and the other words made of the same roots for meaning. This helps.The Quran explains itself, i.e it is Self-explanatory 6114
