What is the language in heaven?
-
In Islam we get the dichotomy of believing and not believing.
The result of being good or not good is irrelevant, but believing in one god and that there is a messenger determines whether a person gets to spend eternity in a place of reward or punishment.
The place of reward is called heaven and the place of punishment is called hell.
As far as I know, no Islamic literature specifies what exactly humans do in heaven. We learn that all humans are resurrected and then sent to heaven if they pass the criteria. But then what? After having sex, eating and drinking, what do people do? Do I get a new PlayStation? What if a child who died 20,000 years ago sees me playing Flight Simulator XXII on a 75" flatscreen TV? Will everyone have the same level of knowledge? Will everyone speak the same language?
Or are heaven and hell to be understood as metaphors? -
Peace,
I know that you will of course be rude to me (nothing new about that), but I'll give you this advise Don't worry about Heaven and Hell so much, worry about the Present. Before you know it, your time will be up, and then you'll have more than enough time to think about Heaven and Hell, because you will residing in one or the other.
If you've read the Quran (which I'm hoping you have), then you'll realize that professing one's faith or allegiance to anything, is not the minimum requirement. If you make claims that God is one, and that He will hold you accountable for your life here on Earth, then it is through your works that you will either prove or disprove this claim. You claims mean nothing to me nor should they mean anything to me.
Peace.

What is certain is that we all die and go back to the creator.
The description of " Heaven" an " Hell" are allegorical. " Mathal" in Arabic. I guess we will find out when we meet God. Nobody can possibly know for sure what another life in another dimension is going to be like. We have to trust God and His message. There are two destinations, that is all we can know for now.

Please read the following
This is a list of sentences from the Koran regarding resurrection. None mentions any language in use or how people communicate or what their occupation is.
What is certain is that we all die and go back to the creator.
Maybe YOU are certain. Hardly anyone agrees with you, but I understand that is your opinion.

Are you saying that examples like
"similitude of the Garden"
"rivers of water"
"rivers of milk"
"rivers of wine"
"rivers of clear run honey"
"therein for them is every kind of fruit, with pardon from their Lord"
as described in 4715 are merely allegorical? Maybe the concept of heaven itself is allegorical too. Maybe all the quotes made in the link you gave are allegorical. How do you know? But anyway, thanks for your answer that in some areas the description of heaven is quite detailed, but nothing regarding communication and what people do.

salam,
It is probably like when we are in wombs we were certainly alive but not aware or conscious of other than we were really there and alive.. we will only come to know when we land there..That could be possible.
But the numerous descriptions (>50) actually mention quite specific elements, such as "Reclining upon couches lined with silk brocade, the fruit of both gardens near to hand". That does not sound like a subconscious observation.

I think we cant really know for sure something which we have not experienced yet. But still God gave description or example of heaven in the Quran using allegories from the material world we are experiencing right now.
225 Give good news to those who acknowledge and do the reforms, that they will have gardens with rivers flowing beneath. Every time they receive of its fruit, they say, "This is what we have been provisioned before," and they are given its likeness/allegories. Moreover, there they will have pure spouses, and there they will abide
226 God does not shy away from citing the example of a mosquito, or anything above it. As for those who acknowledge, they know that it is the truth from their Lord. As for the unappreciative, they say, "What does God want with this example?" He lets many stray by it, and He guides many, but He only lets stray the evildoers.
How do we describer color to a person who is blind from birth?
Peace
Abdullah

Perhaps one day God willing you'll find that the language in heaven has been in your heart all along.
My heart has developed into a muscle pumping blood. Nothing else it can do. Languages are stored in my brain - which ceases functioning when we die.
It just occurred to me now that maybe we will be zombies without brain or speech anyway. -

Yes, that is possible. So how do you know what is allegorical and what is serious or the truth and real?

Peace Stop S,
According to you, you are antithiest, you do not believe in God.
So if according to you there is no God, then there is no heaven
therefore there is no language in heaven. That is "your answer"
according to your beliefs.According to Quran heaven and hell are allegorical.
Sahih International The example of Paradise, which the righteous have been promised, is beneath it rivers flow. Its fruit is lasting, and its shade. That is the consequence for the righteous, and the consequence for the disbelievers is the Fire.
Pickthall A similitude of the Garden which is promised unto those who keep their duty (to Allah) Underneath it rivers flow; its food is everlasting, and its shade; this is the reward of those who keep their duty, while the reward of disbelievers is the Fire.
Yusuf Ali The parable of the Garden which the righteous are promised!- beneath it flow rivers perpetual is the enjoyment thereof and the shade therein such is the end of the Righteous; and the end of Unbelievers in the Fire.
I hope these ayats are helpful

So if according to you there is no God, then there is no heaven
therefore there is no language in heaven. That is "your answer"
according to your beliefs.Let's get some definitions to see if that clarifies things.
Theist = believes there is evidence for the existence of god.
Atheist = does NOT believe there is evidence for the existence of god.
Ant-Theist = does not require a god or wish there was a god.Nobody, not you or me or anyone, can have the KNOWLEDGE of the possible existence of a god.
This forum is not about me. I come here to understand what Muslims believe and why they believe what they believe. So my question is are you a Muslim? If yes, then what do YOU think is the language spoken in heaven and what do people do?

They are not really useful as I have shown above that there are several sentences which describe heaven and its equipment in great detail.
And just think about the following if heaven and hell are allegorical, is the threat real of punishing non-believers or humans who sin?
What stops me from ignoring the threats made in the Koran if they are merely allegorical? -

I'm sorry, but i would like to note that Faith without work is useless, it is not just your belief, it is your good works that count also.

Nobody, not you or me or anyone, can have the KNOWLEDGE of the possible existence of a god.
Assumption! Says who? Why not?
Suppose Mr Smith had an experience that gave him knowledge of the existence of that which is called Allah, I know that no-one would be able to share that experience, and there would be no evidence for it for anyone else. But why is it not possible for someone to have knowledge of the existence of God? We are not talking about evidence or proof to present to others. Note that 'knowledge' here means 'direct experience'. We are not talking about intellectual knowledge as in e.g. knowing that there are penguins on Antarctica without having seen them first hand.
What do you think?

Peace Stop S,
Your use of the circular argument is impressive I must say, but circular nonetheless.
You ask "What is the language in heaven"? Answer Heaven is allegorical
You defy the answer answer not acceptable
You want allegorical changed to concrete.Nobody, not you or me or anyone, can have the KNOWLEDGE of the possible existence of a god.
Disagree
knowledge is the opposite of ignorance, therefore if one can be ignorant of God, then one
can also have knowledge of God.This forum is not about me. I come here to understand what Muslims believe and why they believe what they believe. So my question is are you a Muslim?
If yes, then what do YOU think is the language spoken in heaven and what do people do?Yep I submit to the lord of the universes.
To me personnally it does not matter because whatever the language I'll be glad to be there.
Every person tastes death, then you receive your recompense on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever misses Hell, barely, and makes it to Paradise, has attained a great triumph. The life of this world is no more than an illusion.
They are not really useful as I have shown above that there are several sentences which describe heaven and its equipment in great detail.
The ayats are useful, even the ayats that give great detail are there to describe the blissfulness of paradise.
And just think about the following if heaven and hell are allegorical, is the threat real of punishing non-believers or humans who sin? What stops me from ignoring the threats made in the Koran if they are merely allegorical?
Now you turn to comedy, I do not recommend ignoring threats from God, bad idea.
I have a good feeling about you.

Or are heaven and hell to be understood as metaphors?Salam StopS,
interesting questions I think. I would like to share my understanding about heaven and earth, and I hope it will answer your questions.
#Repetition of the Creation#
021104 The Day when We shall roll up the heavens as a recorder rolleth up a written scroll. As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. (It is) a promise (binding) upon Us. Lo! We are to perform it.
So the second creation will be repetition of first creation. There is no magic behind this. We just simply look for the information about first creation to find out what is going to happen in the second creation.
#First Creation#
Heaven and Earth were one piece
2130 Have those who rejected not seen that the heavens and the earth were one piece, so We split them apart? And that We have made from the water everything that lives. Will they not believe?Expanded universe
5147 And the sky We constructed with resources, and We are expanding it.Jannah (Heaven) in first creation
699 It is He Who sendeth down rain from the skies with it We produce vegetation of all kinds from some We produce green (crops), out of which We produce grain, heaped up (at harvest); out of the date-palm and its sheaths (or spathes) (come) clusters of dates hanging low and near and (then there are) gardens (Jannah) of grapes, and olives, and pomegranates, each similar (in kind) yet different (in variety) when they begin to bear fruit, feast your eyes with the fruit and the ripeness thereof. Behold! in these things there are signs for people who believe.134 And on the earth are neighboring pieces of land with gardens (Jannah) of grapes and plants and palm trees, some of which may be twin sharing the same root, or single, even though they are being watered with the same water source; and We make preference for some of them over others in what they consume. In that are signs for a people who comprehend.
2657 So, We evicted them (Firaun and his troops) out of gardens (Jannah) and springs.
Human and his/her spouse
41 O people, be aware of your Lord who has created you from one person and He created from it its mate and sent forth from it many men and many women; and be aware of God whom you ask about, and the relatives. God is Watcher over you.Languages and Colors
3022 And of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the difference of your languages and colours. Lo! herein indeed are portents for men of knowledge.#Second Creation#
Second creation is just a repetition of first creation. But it's preceded by the doomsday, when the expanded universe get rolled up (21104). My understanding is that the sky and the earth becoming one piece again. And the second creation will take place, as described in 2130.
1448 The Day the earth is replaced with another earth, as are the heavens, and they will appear before God, the One, the Supreme.
If all those things is just a repetition, It's not a mystery about what will happen after the doomsday. The Jannah (heaven), humans and his/her spouse, The colors and the languages, all of them will be created naturally.
But Al Quran has telling us that this second creation is massive in size.
3974 And they said Praise be to God who has fulfilled His promise to us, and He made us inherit the earth, enjoying the paradise (Jannah) as we please. What a beautiful recompense for the workers!
So you can see, that the Jannah is lay down on the earth (the new earth in the second creation). It is similar with the Jannah in the first creation, except the one which described in this verse
5625 They will not hear any nonsense therein, nor blame.Size of Jannah
5721 You shall race towards forgiveness from your Lord, and a Paradise whose width is as the width of the heaven and the earth, prepared for those who believed in God and His messengers. The size of the Jannah on the new Earth in the second creation as width as the width of heaven and earth in first creation. Since the humans will live forever, I think this the reason why the new earth will be created larger than the previous one.
So back to your questions, since all the things will be re-created naturally, I think the language in the heaven will depends on location in the new earth, just like what we have today.
We will have our lineage get connected as well
5221 And those who believed, and their progeny also followed them in belief; We will have their progeny join them. We never fail to reward them for any work. Every person is paid for what he did.
Peace

The title of this thread appears to be a little wrong"What is the language of heaven". It should habe probably been named "What is it like in Heaven". But saying that, What is the language of Heaven !!!! which nobody seems to answer ??. Well if one goes by Islamic accounts then the language of Heaven is obviously Arabic since there is supposed to be an exact replica of the Koran in Heaven as there is here on Earth ( Classical Arabic of course)!!, and there are a few people on here that who swear that Arabic is the original language of Adam and thus of mankind (utter nonsense in "my view".
But keeping in line with other posters, the Koranic Heaven of wild orgies and non stop sex and exotic fruit of every kind served by young kids isn't allegorial at all and is just that as explained in Islamic text. I mean forget anybody else i.e, women and children etc etc where Heaven isn't a pretty place for them, unless your a hot blooded male of course. If I was a pagan living in Mohamad's time and living in a harsh environment, and male of course, I would be jumping at the chance to get a piece of that action!!!
Sadly for me (as an adult male) I don't beleive it is like that at all. But probably would have sucked me in to join the cause as a 7th century desert dweller in Arabia.
P.S...An old saying...If it's sounds to good to be true...It probably is. !!!!

This is explained in epistemology, where the difference between belief and knowledge is explained. If Mr. Smith had an experience, would there be a difference between knowledge and belief? No. Would anyone else be able to share that experience? No. Why should I believe the extraordinary experience Mr. Smith claims to have had? So that is the difference. It is not knowledge.
Example I believe my car is in the garage. Is this also knowledge? No, because even though I left it there, maybe it was stolen or my wife took it to go shopping. Belief, not knowledge. So, you actually nailed it with your question. God can't be proven to exist. There is no physical, appreciable means of verifying any manifestation of the super-natural. It is faith. Without proof or evidence. And what is claimed with evidence can be rejected without evidence.
