there is a great number of people these days adopting the Quran only route and rejecting the collection of Haddith entirely. especially I think new Converts/Reverts from other faith. I'm just here for a friendly chat and I hope we could could communicate.
first a little about myself, all my family are muslims and I am too. I am reluctant to call myself any name other then muslim/Islam for I fear of forming a sect. which Allah warned us about from doing. I'm not sure what I'm really hoping to get out of this thread.. I'm just curious is all.

a Question for those who has adopted the Quran only way of life

    1. have you read the Quran in it's entirety?

    2. how about the hadith? have you read most of the narrations that is deemed authentic?

    3. what do you know about the science of haddith? as for me the knowledge I have is very little so I'm not rushing things.

    Salaam.

Sorry to say I cannot answer your question such as it is. I cannot reject or accept anything as hetergeneous as what is called "hadith" as a block. It would have be one by one, and then based on content I would say "this I find inspiring", "this I find disgusting", etc. etc.

Be it as it may, I find hadith which by its content seem inspiring not as the word of God of course nor as the word of the Prophet, because as to that I do not know and I don't have a way to know, but just a inspiring or inspired words, however said them and to the extent of their usefulness as inspired words. I cannot take them as a source of any obligation or duty. But as any other religious inspired literature.

      Salaam

Peace It's not my mind I am following, as a worshipper of God Alone and Submitter I am following God's words in Quran.
"We did not leave anything out of this book? 638

?Shall I seek other than God as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed?? 6114

?The word of your Lord is complete, in truth and justice. Nothing shall abrogate His words. He is the Hearer, the Omniscient? 6115

?This is not fabricated ?hadith?; this confirms all previous scriptures, provides the details of everything, and is a guidance and mercy for those who believe? 12111

?We have revealed to you this book to provide explanations for everything, and guidance and mercy and good news for the submitters? 1689

"In their histories there is certainly a lesson for men of understanding. It is not a narrative which could be forged, but a verification of what is before it and a detailed explanation and a guide and a mercy to a people who believe" 12.111

                    Peace Lookitup.

Taking any other book as a guide to your "deen" is idolworship. You are taking on another god with God.
Qoran should be the only source of "deen". Check out

The collections exist, so you can't really reject them. You can reject the authenticity claims or the claim that the contents is accurate.
Most believers accept the sayings as though they were inspired by a god, selecting a single person to convey further messages. Of course, the question immediately comes up then why not place what is important and necessary into the Koran? And that, in my eyes, is where the entire arbitrary collection and selection process of the Hadiths fail 100%. They also have internal contradictions and contradict the Koran. They have really nonsensical stories and only rarely explain what is in the Koran.
There are however open questions in the Koran which are explained in the Hadiths, I think, such as the backgrounds to some names such as Abu Lahab and the fact that they are taken as basis for fiqh or jurisprudence in some madhabs or regions. Like the rule that Muslims need to pray 5 times is not mentioned as such in the Koran or that women are required to cover their bodies excepting hands and faces requires huge amounts of interpretation without the Hadiths.

I'm just here for a friendly chat and I hope we could could communicate.

                        Welcome to the forum!

I am reluctant to call myself any name other then muslim/Islam for I fear of forming a sect. which Allah warned us about from doing.

Why should you have to fear calling yourself Muslim or anything else? Here are the verses about dividing into sects

6159 Those who have divided their system and become sects, you are not with them in anything. Their matter will be with God, then He will inform them of what they had done.

3032 From those who have divided their system and become sects, each group is happy with what it has.

But the one to focus on I think is this

2177 Piety is not to turn your faces towards the east and the west, but pious is one who believes in God and the Last Day, and the angels, and the Book, and the prophets, and who gives money out of love to the relatives, and the orphans, and the needy, and the wayfarer, and those who ask, and to free the slaves; and who upholds the contact prayer, and who contributes towards purification; and those who keep their pledges when they make a pledge, and those who are patient in the face of hardship and adversity and when in despair. These are the ones who have been truthful, and these are the righteous.

I think that as long as you're following 2177 for the foundation of your life, then you shouldn't worry. As long as you're seeking the truth and verifying things and holding fast to the Quran, God will guide you to what is correct.

                        1. have you read the Quran in it's entirety?

Yes I have. yay It was a long process at first reading Yusuf Ali's translation, but when I got my hands on a literal translation, I flew threw it in 2 1/2 weeks! The original words of God are so straightforward and easy to read that I don't get why people feel the need to throw in their own interpretation.

                        1. how about the hadith? have you read most of the narrations that is deemed authentic?

Oh God no. I did a search once for salat in hadith - one topic - and I ended up looking through the search result for three hours. At the bottom of the search page, I realized that there were at least 12 more pages of results and so far I did not come across any specifics at all. sigh imho, I think it takes way too long to read and it is very exhausting.

When I did a search for "salat" in the Quran, I got a list of verses that were simple, read the context around each one, and had a better and more detailed understanding about it in about an hour. Whew!

                        1. what do you know about the science of haddith? as for me the knowledge I have is very little so I'm not rushing things.

As per my understanding, Hadith is Chinese Whispers without the confirmation of the original story, so I personally don't bother with them at all. (100% reject).

                        Idiom Definitions for 'Chinese whispers'
When a story is told from person to person, especially if it is gossip or scandal, it inevitably gets distorted and exaggerated. This process is called Chinese whispers.

Peace! I hope this forum can fulfill the appetite of your curiosity! sun

1). Yes I have read the Koran in its entirety
2). Yes, I have read most of the narrations of hadiths
3). Didn't find anything scientific about the hadiths

I reject lies told about God and his messengers. I reject how God is characterized and humanized by people. I reject those who think they are in the right but really are misguided. I reject poor translations, misinformation, misinterpretation of the Koran.

I embrace only God and his divine guidance.

hi this is one of the things that I find a bit confusing. The Quran mentions to cover only the bosoms and something about the cloak?(I can't remember the words if someone here could clarify please do) and also to be modest in dressing(is this correct?) but where do we find the criterion on how to dress modestly? if women were to only cover the bosoms what about the other parts of their body? how about men?

What is it that you hope we could all learn more about hadiths?

if it's possible It'd be best to learn as much as we can about a way of life that has been practised by muslims over a thousand years. either you accept them or not, like it or don't like it, the knowledge will be useful when confronting to someone who does follow haddith or when confronting your ownself when you are having doubts. I want to someday to have a discussion from people of all beliefs.

I'm reading the collection of Bukhari's Hadith through a couple of sites right now but they don't differentiate between Dhaif(weak) or Sahih(Authentic) or etc..(other levels of hadith). is there any site that offer an insight to what hadith belongs to what group?

                                      for example

Narrated Ibn 'Umar Allah's Apostle said Islam is based on (the following) five (principles) 1. To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Apostle. 2. To offer the (compulsory congregational) prayers dutifully and perfectly. 3. To pay Zakat (i.e. obligatory charity) . 4. To perform Hajj. (i.e. Pilgrimage to Mecca) 5. To observe fast during the month of Ramadan.

this hadith can be found in Sahih Bukhari but how should I know if it's Sahih(Authentic),Dhai'f(weak),Mauquf (untraceable - stopped) or etc..

there is a great number of people these days adopting the Quran only route and rejecting the collection of Haddith entirely. especially I think new Converts/Reverts from other faith.

                                        Salaam.

                                        Salaam,

                                        Welcome to the forum handshake

                                        1. nope never from cover to cover, not in Arabic and also not in a other language. But if you collect all the parts I've read then I have read it ofcourse multiple times
                                        2. nope I hate reading them, even when I was a sunni. Totally not inspiring for me even the "good" hadiths.
                                        3. very little

                                        Salaam,

Yes a number of translations and a number of times, now trying to study the Arabic

                                          2. how about the hadith? have you read most of the narrations that is deemed authentic?
Yes, read all Malik's Muwatta, the vast majority of Bukhari and a few of Muslim and others along the way.

                                          3. what do you know about the science of haddith? as for me the knowledge I have is very little so I'm not rushing things.
a fair bit as I studied that as well but a while ago.

                                          Salaam.

Salam and welcome to the forum peace
