God Challenging the arrogant
-
it isn't my problem if you have some difficulties in understanding it.
The arabic word "" means to open a hole from one side and go through to the other side and since we have to dig to make such a hole to reach the other side then similarly we have also to bulid to go as high as mountains of course god isn't challenging to go through a ready made whole or a ready mountain to climb,it need some talents beside arabic understanding to realize it's meaning.
So i am sorry if i can't help you to understand the beauty of this verse.
Yeah, I know how tough it can be to be critical of yourself. It is a lot easier to blame others.
The Arabic word "" means penetrates. What you are doing is providing an interpretation, the way that you would like it. This is quite common and is called confirmation bias.
pen?e?trate (pn-trt)
v. pen?e?trat?ed, pen?e?trat?ing, pen?e?trates- To enter or force a way into; pierce.
- a. To enter into and permeate The insistent rhythm of piano practice penetrated each room of the house.
b. To cause to be permeated or diffused; steep. - To insert the penis into the vagina or anus of.
- To enter (an organization, for example), usually surreptitiously, so as to gain influence or information; infiltrate.
- To enter and gain a share of (a market) penetrated the home-computer market with an affordable new model.
- To grasp the inner significance of; understand.
- To see through keen eyes that penetrate the darkness.
- To affect deeply, as by piercing the consciousness or emotions.
This shows that your version is not mentioned here. Can you envisage your version when applied in the corporate or the sexual context? ;D
You also fail to show why an arrogant person can't dig a hole.
Now you commit I don't know how many logical fallacies by saying that digging a hole is similar to building something. Really? And reaching the height of a mountain is just as valid as any other interpretation. You don't own a monopoly on opinions.
Instead of being all hurt and offended, why don't you look at what I wrote? I am not in any way commenting on the sentence in the Koran! I am NOT commenting on whether it is beautiful or not. I am saying that my understanding and opinion about the sentence you interpret and fill with what you consider to be right is different than yours.
What I think is that this sentence is merely saying that an arrogant person will not understand the depths and heights of logics or an argument in a discussion because this person is too concerned with their own ego. It is a philosophical point and not a technical one. But that's just my opinion.

1737 And do not walk in the land arrogantly, for you will not penetrate the Earth, nor will you reach the mountains in height
i don't know if i have to teach you even simple language, but let us discuss your favourite sentence
Penetrating the anusSo penetration is limited to the anus and not the whole body
i hope this short video will help you to understand
http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxL2nUEBOFA
That verse is really amazing that god is challenging the arrogants to penetrate the earth (digging) or to reach as high as the mountains (building).
Again i can't help you if you don't understand or if you don't want to understand.

The more the merrier? Hahaha, no, I think I am alone on this. Kling is more the academic and has a holistic view. I prefer learning from people and not scholars.
Hmm, too bad. I would be interested in Kling's opinion on some of the stuff here and how his "all guns blazing" responses would go down in a forum like this.

Well, he's accessible and always interested in hearing from others about their opinions, so why don't you contact him?

Maybe. Would he really listen to me though or be persuaded enough to come here? Not sure about that, I guess I'd have to see.

1737 And do not walk in the land arrogantly, for you will not penetrate the Earth, nor will you reach the mountains in height.
That is god challenge to the arrogant that he can never penetrate the earth " "
penetration means to open a hole from one side and go through to the other side of our earth "Who can do it"That is one challenge,so if any one like to prove that god was a myth, then here is a chance, just penetrate the earth.
The other challenge is to have a structure as high as the mountains
The highest building is 828 meters heightI would say that it is talking about penetrating the whole Earth as it is talking about two extremes. Going very far below and then going to the height of the tallest mountains. As its referring to reach the height, it appears to be referring to reaching the mountains in terms of their height. Basically, you can't match them.

Kling will listen to you - but I doubt he would see any sense in participating in any discussion here.
On that you are probably right. He might not see any sense in it, but he wants to get more opinions etc from Muslims and here he would get perhaps quite a different one from the norm. I don't think I should pester him about this.
