    Peace.

What exactly is 3110 saying regarding the sky?

    "Khalaqa alssamawati bighayri 'amadin tarawnaha"

Bighayri as far as I understand means "not with" or "without".
'Amadin seems to be "pillars" or "columns"
    Tarawnaha means "that you see"

So, is this verse saying the sky is built with invisible pillars i.e. "with pillars that you cannot see"?

Perhaps I'm having a mental block; sometimes the language of the Qur'an is confusing as it is often uses negatives.

      Salaamun alaykum, jtc.

The ayat refers to the universe (it talks heavens in plural) rather than the sky.

The galaxies rotate too fast for the visible matter to hold them gravitationally, so there is something that holds them together (science at the moment calls it 'dark matter' but it has not been detected yet - so we don't know what it really is). On the larger scale the galaxies are moving apart and it is not yet clear what this 'anti-gravitational' force really is (science calls it 'dark energy' for the moment).

      Salaam, Milan

        Peace.

        My question is

Does "without pillars that you see" = "with pillars which you cannot see"?

If this is true, then this description is alluding to the skies/universes being held up like a canopy...This is not very "scientific" and cannot really be interpreted as a wise metaphor as if the Qur'an is really the word of God, it should explain science in simple terms, not science fiction in mystical terms.

Does "without pillars that you see" = "with pillars which you cannot see"?

This perception is not there in Arabic text of Ayah.

We have a general perception that canopy like structures are raised above the ground through pillars. Allah the Exalted raised high the skies circumstantially without resorting to use of pillars.

signifies elevating, raising above the ground.

is a prepositional phrase coupled with possessive phrase. It relates to circumstantial clause of the sentence.

Allah the Exalted is He Who has raised high the Skies. This elevation is circumstantially without the support of pillars. You people are seeing the Skies elevated as such without pillars.

It is a complete verbal sentence Verb + Subject + Object. Verb Imperfect; Second person; plural; masculine; Mood Indicative evident by "" and; Subject pronoun, in nominative state; Object pronoun third person; feminine; singular, in accusative state, - Verbal noun. It means "You people are watching/seeing them skies and will keep seeing".

            Peace jtc,

There are 2 grammatical possibilities for the first statement of 3110.

            1. "He created the samawat without pillars that you see."

            2. "He created the samawat, you see it (the samawat) without any pillars."

There is a third possibility albeit convoluted and pedantic, I will not recount it here.

Well if a3mad are any close to rod shaped strings (i think) then what about string theory? Everything in existence is made of vibrations. Perhaps this is what keeps the heavens/universe together?

pillars as in "supports" what holds it!

you can't see what holds the sky up

pillars what supports the sky think about liquid densities.....now about gas

                check the period element table

maybe ALLAH will help you understand

While I do not make any proposals of what is the truth in this case, I'm pretty sure your explanation is wrong. Strictly astronomically speaking, choosing the orbit of pluto has two obvious problems

                    • Pluto is by astronomers widely and increasingly held as being the innermost but not the largest body in a swarm of many such objects called the Kuiper belt. With this in mind, choosing Pluto as defining a "space" extending out to include the rest of the universe seems completely arbitrary.
-Pluto's orbit is not only inclined from the rest of the plane of the ecliptic, it is also rather elliptical, so Pluto is actually inside the orbit of Neptune sometimes, which means that according to your hypothesis "space" #6 and #7 would have to switch places on occasion.

Kuiper belt is in the 7th layer (space),Pluto moves from the 7th layer to the 6th layer and back to the 7th layer.

According to the quran the sun and moon have its own orbits which isn't the same as for earth and the seven heavens.

And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. (363

"Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, (7115)

and has set up within them the moon as a light , and set up the sun as a lamp? (7116)

So even the moon isn't included as a part of the earth and the 7 heavens.

What exactly is 3110 saying regarding the sky?

                                      "Khalaqa alssamawati bighayri 'amadin tarawnaha"

Bighayri as far as I understand means "not with" or "without".
'Amadin seems to be "pillars" or "columns"
                                      Tarawnaha means "that you see"

So, is this verse saying the sky is built with invisible pillars i.e. "with pillars that you cannot see"?

Perhaps I'm having a mental block; sometimes the language of the Qur'an is confusing as it is often uses negatives.

I found this sign in Miracle and later discovered that Quran is only scripture demonstrate its divinity prior to read the messages just by book index . )
