2675 He said, "Do you see what you have
    been serving."
2676 "You and your fathers of old."
2677 "They are enemies to me, except for
    the Lord of the worlds."
2678 "The One who created me, He will
    guide me."
2679 "He is the One who feeds me and gives
    me drink."
2680 "If I am sick, He is the One who cures
    me."
2681 "The One who will make me die and
    then bring me to life."
2682 "The One whom I hope will forgive
my faults on the day of Judgment."

I have tried to understand what it means to say that God is the One who feeds me and gives me drink. In one way of thinking about it, we can guess that God puts us in places where food is available, gives us the money to purchase the food, brings us to the store, thus my intention to go to the store, getting hungry, etc are all controlled by God. I'm not going to accept that immediately (obviously), as I don't want to lie about God. So I ask for your understanding.
Another way of thinking about it can be that we guess that since God is the One who gives us the commands of what not to eat, tells us not to transgress or waste food, tells us to eat what is "good" (I assume that means Good for us health-wise, not tasty because for example, flavored chemicals might be tasty), and that since God is the One who created and designed the universe, we can guess that God is feeding us by giving us fruits and vegetables and the means to acquire them. Again, I'm not going to accept that immediately (obviously), as I don't want to lie about God.

So I ask for your understanding.

    peace

      Peace, glory to the gracious,

At birth, Allah feeds the air to the new born; it is not put on ventilators.
Then for the drink and food it is Allah, who brings the hither to dead breasts of its mother to life to secrete copious milk.
It is Allah who gives wisdom to the child, and guides it to the nipple of its mother, then teaches how to place the lips on the nipples to suckle on it; it is He who teaches the child to how much to gather the milk in the mouth and how to gulp it down; and it is He who teaches the child to close the wind passage while gulping down the milk in order that it would not regurgitate and choke.

And without Him causing the thirst and hunger, there is no feeding possible, by any means.

If we reflect on this, we shall well satisfy ourselves with clear answers to questions of such likeness.

      Peace

        Salaam GTTG,

I agree with brother DrFazl, but it is not limited to a baby, Ibrahim said those words.

When he said He is the One who feeds me and gives me drink that means to me, he never eat or drink anything of his choice, but whatever comes to him, he ate and drinks it as it is from Allah for him. If we say, we don't eat this or that, that clearly means we are making our own choices and not falling under the category of 2679.

It is always easy and better to follow 2679, because we actually don't know what is good for ourselves and what is not, hence leaving it on Allah and accepting whatever He wants us to eat is the best option. Because Allah is our Creator and He knows what exactly our body requires. Hope you understand what I am trying to say, inshaAllah.

Please take a look here for more detail.

May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path pr

So if a baby dies at birth Allah killed it?

Shouldn't this be a bit less physical? Why not see this as an indication that all life could depend on nature and this could depend on a god?

Allah causes the life to come into existence and it is He who causes it to become extinct too. I am eager to know who else could it be if it is not the all encompassing the Most Superior, the Most Wise, with clear proof.

Man is superior to all nature is the rule of creation. Nature would also be caused to die and the indication is the nature is dying too as man would become no more, sometime. Who has the ruling over all nature and man, together?

Why do you ask "who else"? Isn't that a presupposition? I would love to know what exactly you declare to be "clear proof", which nobody on this planet has heard of and which would obviously make the word faith obsolete. Also, if there really were "clear proof" as you claim, atheism would also have to fall away by necessity. Interesting claim.

Man is superior to all nature is the rule of creation. Nature would also be caused to die and the indication is the nature is dying too as man would become no more, sometime. Who has the ruling over all nature and man, together?

I would like to see you do arm-wrestling with a whale and speed swimming with a shark ) Animals can see better, hear better, smell better, have a better short term memory, run faster, fly higher and dive deeper. What superiority? All we have is a higher self-awareness.
Nature can survive just fine without humans but humans can't survive without nature.
If you believe there is a governing factor above everything, how do you explain the lack of evidence for it?
Why do you think that if the message in the Koran is so important, why does the Koran not change automatically to the language the reader understands?
Why are people in need of explanations of sentences in the Koran, if they are claimed to be so clear?
I have problems understanding 75% of the sentences in the Koran. If I lack the intelligence to understand it, why do I lack the intelligence?

When I am posing a question 'who else?', it is not a presupposition, but asking your inference or take as to who then causes death if it is not Allah? When you give your inference you will surely be a proof unto you even if none in the planet ever heard of what you are going to say as an answer to your question.

The word 'Allah' means 'a superior power above all nature, physical, metaphysical, esoteric etc.

In situations of famine and drought nature is withered, dead and dried to dust while man is surviving. In desert countries man beats the nature of extreme lack of its water source and survives by converting sea into water and develops plantations and vegetation; trees and gardens. All nature is subservient to man as long as man serves God. Tsunami might have engulfed millions along the coasts; yet thousands have survived from its clutches as they grasped and held on to the command and the Will of God, the Mighty. Tsunami miserably failed before such thousands of empowered people who beat even the nature's fury. Why others are dead is because they valued nature either is equal to them or considered the nature superior to them and failed to grasp the Will of the Mighty Power. Regarding those who died in tsunami, God had not done them wrong, nevertheless by denying or doubting the High Command, God, they got drowned themselves.

What is seen or tangential is knowledge; but it is the invisible "feel or need bestowed upon the mind of man" by the Mighty Will and Wisdom of God that brings about various assemblages and amalgamations resulting in visible forms of inventions and innovations.

Quran is so important because, it speaks to the mind, of the mind and stands firm by the conscience of man, the absolute Wisdom from God which is the basis for comprehension and understanding, the essentiality of a human being. You are unable to comprehend 75% of its verses because you are a 100% materially knowledgeable man. You are intelligent, no doubt about it. But you must be a believer in the unseen Wisdom to perceive and imbibe the abstract Power.

Well, if I am killed by a tsunami or tornado I would say what killed me and not who killed me.

Allah is an Arabic word for god. There is no fixed definition for this and probably 3 billion versions. You believe there is a super-natural being with those properties. That is your belief alone. Why do you believe this? Can you be wrong? Should I believe this too?

Each one is an individual; this individuality is based on the mind which shall all the time be aware of its ever growing comprehension for clarity of thought, to allow the never ending process of perception of every power about you, invisible to your naked eye. Thus the perception of the superior power or Allah is bound to be different between two individuals; and in the same individual it would be one better than the one before, between two moments. As long as they believe in the superior power they are all in the best of directions. Be he a So called Hindu, Muslim or Christian, for these are nothing but empty names you coin to yourself.

No, not at all. That's futile as I can't change, can I?
So the dichotomy for me is who or what, where I favour what as it makes more sense and your who is more strange to me.

                            I understand your concept.

Exactly. This is where technology and science comes in and saves the day, analysing the conditions and finding fibres which clothing manufacturers can use to manufacture materials which enable survival beyond 50 degrees North and South.
This not about submission, but adaptation.

If you are humble, it could be the other way too?

Unless you have belief in emotions, you could not have written down a line like this.

No, not really. Science and technology are factual, not emotional.
A robot can write that line. It is a factual realisation that some people require a god, religion, horoscopes, prayer, or whatever spiritual component in their lives.

No, not at all. That's futile as I can't change, can I?
So the dichotomy for me is who or what, where I favour what as it makes more sense and your who is more strange to me.

Let me read from my previous post again to you would you not consider the question 'Why it killed you?', as more important than by what or who killed you?

                              I understand your concept.
                              But what about
                              Why do you believe this?
                              Can you be wrong?
                              Should I believe this too?

Thanks for your understanding of the concept, i.e., you believe in the abstract notion inferred from the specific occurrences and real instances. Following this affirmation you slip into confusion again by asking the questions like why do you believe this? Should I believe this too? And then your question 'can you be wrong?', is questioning your own affirmation of your contextual understanding.

Exactly. This is from where technology and science comes in and saves the day, analysing the conditions and finding fibres which clothing manufacturers can use to manufacture materials which enable survival beyond 50 degrees North and South.

I have added one word from in your quote for better reading.

Your abstract mind is opting for the abstract need first as precedence; then the oft-tiring, physical brainy efforts proceed - in the direction of adaptation of procedures towards fulfilling your needs in toddler steps. You have to go a long, long way with your inventions, innovations and modifications adapting yourself to something much lower than your real needs. And just to keep the pride of your science and technology afloat, you shall have to lead an adapted life, yet adopting an inept one, heavily compromising with your real mind in real time, which defect should cause a wretched feeling for the science and technology. But because you have adapted and adopted and accustomed and self-accursed to such life, you slip into confusion after understanding.

No, not really. Science and technology are factual, not emotional.

All the while I have been speaking of factual reality; where do you lose me? What is 'factual realisation' anyway?

This can go on for some time. I answered no, not at all.

Thanks for your understanding of the concept, i.e., you believe in the abstract notion inferred from the specific occurrences and real instances.

I said I understand what you are saying. I did NOT say I agree or that I find this particularly compelling. Hence my questions. To you.

I have added one word from in your quote for better reading.

That word then invalidates my statement. "technology and science" don't come from and go somewhere but are simply applied.

Your abstract mind is opting for the abstract need first as precedence; then the oft-tiring, physical brainy efforts proceed - in the direction of adaptation of procedures towards fulfilling your needs in toddler steps. My mind is very physical. Why do you see the need to constantly change what I say? I say what I am saying for a reason. You go off on some tangent inventing things as you go along without making any tangible statements, just rambling for the sake of rambling.

You make a claim "nature is subservient to man"
I show that this is wrong.
You make the next claim "not a single human should be by now living in the arctic, Antarctic or in the deserts today"
I show that this is wrong.

Why don't you say what this is all about instead of these incoherent sentences?

If I study, observe and analyse something I realise what the result is. That is the realisation.
I can invent something, dream it or use a concept. Or I can base a statement on a fact. Realising that for some people something is a fact is a factual realisation.

                                I hope that clarifies it.

Truthfully, human mind is a conscious process of the conscience, well-guided by the Light, the Insight. This is the path of wisdom. If you observe and analyse yourself it will lead to this path. Mind stability organises and channelise the physical brain to function in the path of Truth. The 'Will Power' of the mind dematerialises and dissolves all tangible knowledge resulted from the material brain works, if the mind is not satisfied with its invention and finds it unsuitable to its realistic need and use. At this, the mind commands the brain to work and make some comfortable changes and the innovations and modifications to the original product results. Or the mind is totally dissatisfied with the brain's product altogether, it becomes useless scrap.

'The incoherence' that you find in my posts is due to some error, or in your loss of connection between the absolute power of the meta physical mind over its slave, the physically submissive brain; and the inability to value the superiority of the mind over the brain.

                                  I hope that clarifies it.

                                    Salam all,

My opinion on this verse is in a scientific way. Just a year course in Biology 101 can teach you how plants and animals cohabitate the planet and the symbiotic relationship between everything in the "food chain". It's been many years since I cracked a biology book so don't rely on me, but reference your library. To learn about these complex relationships and processes only enhances the strength of this verse as I believe that Allah was the one to initiate them in the first place.

You believe that the unconscious nature managed without intention (it happened like this) that we have our drinks and all kind of foods and medicines, but for us (theists) believe that a super entity created it for us and we are submitted to him whether for good or bad things happening to us.

Nature does not manage anything. Nature runs along and does what it does best adapt.

If you run and your body gets hot, you sweat. Is it your intention to sweat? No, it is nature. Is it intention? Not really, it is a reaction which is automated in your ancient part of the brain which also contains primeval instincts.

Humans research and because we understand nature, we are able to develop medicines. If you believe that a super-natural being brings you cancer and then helps you develop a cure for that very cancer, I find that odd.
If you believe that a god is guiding nature that's fine. But I immediately ask why?
                                          Why do you believe this?
                                          Could you be wrong?
Do you think I should also believe this and why?

I ask this because I don't know much about anything and want to understand how people rationalise their beliefs.
