[ask] Ruwakh Hakodesh/Ruhul Qudus/Holy Spirit in the Quran?
-
Salam
who is this Ruhul Qudus in the Quran?
according to Judaism and Christianity, Holy spirit is God's spirit (not the God itself), and according to sunnism Ruhul Qudus is an Angel gabriel. but how the Quran explain about Ruhul Qudus?any interpretation? although i know the best answer is "Wallahualam" since He gave us only a little about Ghaib things
-
Facts about Ruhul Qudus, we knows from Quran is
-
Ruhul Qudus send Quran from Allah to Muhammad (16102)
-
Ruhul Qudus is to supported Isa bin Maryam for his mukjizat/miracle. (2253 n 5110)
-
All about Ruh is Allah bussines (1785)
-
Ruhul Qudus can actually an angel who sent down by God (1917).
From that 4 point, it's no doubt again that Ruhul Qudus actually is Gabriel.Because Gabriel send Quran too (297).
Its my interpretation, maybe another users have more good interpretation than me. -
-
Peace be upon you.
Jibril/Gabriel is mentioned three times in the Quran by name, and nowhere in the Quran he has ever been said
to be an angel (malaika)Say Whoever is the enemy to Gabriel (Jibril) - for indeed he revealed it to your heart by God's
permission, confirming that which is before it (co-existent) and a guidance and glad tidings for the
believers. (297)Whoever is an enemy to God and His angels and His messengers and Gabriel (Jibril) and Michael (Meekael),
then indeed God is an enemy to the disbelievers. (29If you both turn to God, then indeed your hearts are already inclined (to this); and if you back up
each other against him, then indeed God, He it is Who is his Guardian / Protector, and Gabriel (Jibril)
and righteous believers and the angels after that are his assistants. (6604)Are spirits and angels same? Or are they different entities?
From the verses below, there is a strong suggestion that spirits and angels are different entities
The Day that the Spirit (al-Ruh - singular) and the Angels (al-Malaikatu - plural) will stand forth
in rows, none shall speak except any who is permitted by the Most Gracious (God), and He will say what
is correct. (783He sends down the Angels with the Spirit of His command (Ruhe-min-amr) to whom He will of His
bondmen / slaves, (saying) Warn mankind that there is no God save Me, so keep your duty to Me. (162)The Angels (Malaika) and the Spirit (al-Ruh) ascend to him in a Day the measure whereof is (as) fifty
thousand years. (704)Descend the Angels (Malaika) and the Spirit (al- Ruh) therein by the permission of their Lord,
on every errand. (974)Who revealed the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by God's permission?
The answer is, "Ruh al-Qudoos", i.e. Jibril. The verses below confirms it
Say Whoever is the enemy to Gabriel (Jibril) - for indeed he revealed it / brought it (nazzala) to your
heart by God's permission, confirming that which is before it (co-existent) and a guidance and glad tidings
for the believers. (297)Say, the Holy Spirit (Ruh al-Qudoos) has revealed it / brought it (nazzala) from your Lord in Truth,
in order to strengthen those who believe, and as guidance and glad tidings to Muslims. (16102)Therefore, Jibril is a spirit, and there is no warrant to assert that Jibril is an angel. But Jibril can only be an angel, if spirits and angels are not separate entities, which seems to be very
unlikely from the Quran's perspective. -
Could it be that al ruH el Quddus is the divine spirit unspecified and that angels and archangels are specificactions of the spirit following God's names.
I remember from catholicism that there are angels and archangels, Jibril (Gabriel), Mikhail, Raphael...

Peace,
I wanted to add something, if you do not mind.
I think the Holy Spirit is a kind of medium which God uses in His marvels here. It can of course be at limitless amount of places at the same time. The angels probably have control over this spirit by God's leave and can infuse it upon a chosen target. In the case with Quran, Muhammad was the target.
Highly philosophical is what I wrote, but according to me a viable explanation.
(the Holy Spirit for me feels as something like the Force in Star Wars)
God bless you

Therefore, Jibril is a spirit, and there is no warrant to assert that Jibril is an angel. But Jibril can only be an angel, if spirits and angels are not separate entities, which seems to be very
unlikely from the Quran's perspective.so ruh in Quranic meaning divided into tworuh (human soul) and ruhul Qudus (Jibril)

so ruh in Quranic meaning divided into tworuh (human soul) and ruhul Qudus (Jibril)
In the Quran
The human soul is (Nafs)
The spirit existing only in a singular forme is (Ruh)Regards

Peace,
There are three things we shall take into account Allah, His Messenger, His RUH
If Allah is with You and His Ruh is with You, then His Messengers such as Ruhul Quddus(Gibreel, The Messenger who convey the Purest Words from Allah), Ruhul Amin(Mikhail, The Messenger who show the Surest Way by the leave of Allah), are also with You - in Your Heart. Nothing is away or outside of you, if you want to be led to heaven in both here and in the world after.
Say, "Whoever is an enemy to Gibreel - it is he who brings down upon your heart, Allah's Command and by His leave , confirming that which was before it and as guidance and good tidings for the believers." Whoever is an enemy to Allah and His angels and His messengers and Gibreel and Mikhail - then indeed, Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers.
If we mind and remind ourselves, these two angels are our true real time Prophets, Messengers for the rest of the world - the worlds' life time.

Ruhul Amin(Mikhail, The Messenger who show the Surest Way by the leave of Allah),
Sorry my brother @drfazl.In my opinion Ruhl Al Amin is Gabriel too, look at this verses
" And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds." (26192)
" Ruh al Amin who brought it down"The Quran only pointing out if only malaikat who delivered Quran to Muhammad is Gabriel itself.
What bases you used, if Mikhail is Ruh al Amin? -
Earthdom,
PeaceA grave translation mistake has happened in your reference
" And indeed, The Quran is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds." (26192)
" And indeed, THIS is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds." (26192)" Ruh al Amin who brought it down"
Before I give you the explanation, I want you to reconsider your understanding if RUH UL QUDDUS and RUH UL AMIN are the same. Quddus and Amin are two different attributes. For the time being let it be so. Are Jibril and Michail also one and the same Malayika? Or they are two different Malayika?
If you know that belief in the Malayika is the third of the five pre-requisite to become a Muslim, only after your belief in Allah and The Promised Day - you should have had clear understanding about these two Malayika in the least. Unless you know these two Malayika, there is no way you can distinguish who RUH-UL-QUDDUS is and who RUH-UL-AMIN is.
According to 297, and 298 you cannot be an enemy to them both; you could not have been unmindful of them in your entire life; you could not have been heedless towards them. In other words you should have followed them in spirit, manner and form as they kept guiding you all the while. Have you ever followed the two Malayika? Have you ever feared God and strived to know them to become a Muslim before death arrives? Have you ever feared and turned to God to know who the said Malayika are and sought from Him The Guidance to follow them so that you will not be their enemies either knowingly or unknowingly?
Please answer before I further.

Peace be unto you.
I agree with Earthdom. I think the Holy Spirit (Ruh al-Qudoos) and the Faithful/Trustworthy Spirit (Ruh al-ameen) is the same Spirit given two different attributes.
Say, the Holy Spirit (Ruh al-Qudoos) has revealed it / brought it (nazzala) from your Lord in Truth,
in order to strengthen those who believe, and as guidance and glad tidings to Muslims. (16102)And indeed, it surely is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds. The Faithful / Trustworthy Spirit (Ruh al-ameen) has revealed it / brought it (nazala) upon your heart that you may be of the warners. In plain / clear Arabic language. (26192-195)
If someone says that the two different attributes suggest two different spirits, then that would mean the Quran was being revealed to the Prophet by two different spirits. And I don't think that's the case. God knows best.
But my question is, can anyone show me any proof that a spirit and an angel are NOT separate entities?
-
A grave translation mistake has happened in your reference
So what is this?If we read the whole verses in Quran, the word this can be mean Quran,Kitab and provision. So what is the word this according to you @drfazl?
Like all @Scribbler says, the entity who brought it/this is Ruhul Qudus aka Jibril.
the Holy Spirit (Ruh al-Qudoos) has revealed it / brought it (nazzala) from your Lord in Truth
The Faithful / Trustworthy Spirit (Ruh al-ameen) has revealed it / brought it (nazala) upon your heartQuran never say if Mikhail is brought anything from God, so Ruh al Amin is actually Jibril. The only verse that mentioning Mikhail is 298.
-
Ok Mr Fazrul Rahmaan, I will answer all of your question.
QAre Jibril and Michail also one and the same Malayika? Or they are two different Malayika?
AFrom verse
298 ?Whoever is an enemy to God and His angels, and His messengers,wa Jibril,wa Mikael, then so God is the enemy to the disbelievers
This means Gabriel and Michael are separate entity, it means different Malaykat.QHave you ever followed the two Malayika?
ANo, there is not exist in Quranic teology, that we must follow Malayka. The truth is we must follow Allah n His Roosuls.
QHave you ever feared God and strived to know them to become a Muslim before death arrives?
Have you ever feared and turned to God to know who the said Malayika are and sought from Him The Guidance to follow them so that you will not be their enemies either knowingly or unknowingly?ASorry to say this Mr Fazl, this question is fit for student in madrasah or high school.Of course I have iman on Gabriel and Mikhael as Allah's angels.Btw why I bothering myself for declaring Gabriel n Mikhael as my enemies.
Just to the point, Mr Fazrul RahmaanWhat bases you used, if Ruhl al Ameen is Michael?
-
Peace Earthdom,
So if an angel came to you then you would not obey?
God bless you
-
So if an angel came to you then you would not obey?
Peace @Man of Faith
First I don't understant your question. If we ordered to follow the Angels, then what we must follow since they're not create a teaching.
Both of humans and the Angels ordered to worship Allah only.Is there any verse that told we must "following Malaykat"? Nothing right )
-
Ok Mr Fazrul Rahmaan, I will answer all of your question.
QAre Jibril and Michail also one and the same Malayika? Or they are two different Malayika?
This means Gabriel and Michael are separate entity, it means different Malaykat.
Now the question to you is how do you become an enemy to both of them as per 298? If you follow malayika they are your friends in both the worlds; and if you reject them you are their enemies. Is it that you act against them? Mistreat them? Become treacherous against them? You do not heed them? Or obstruct the people who heed their call? Or you dismiss their warning and ignore them? Or you do not follow them? Are they two not messengers unto you from among the Malayika - both Jibril and Mikhail? If they are two different Malayika, what are their different works with regard to man? Please answer to all the question one by one.
I will stand by this thread till the end if you care to answer with reference from the ayats suitably.

Peace,
Of course these angels are different individuals. Angels are beings like us although seemingly superior. They are not taking part in this test here and are helpers in the supervision of this test. They are servants of God who were created before humans and have not failed to obey God, so they are not subject to trials. Apart from that we do not know much about them except some of their characteristics
I never said anything about worshiping an angel. I was talking about obeying the command of an angel if they came around as a Messenger here on Earth. God can hypothetically send an angel under the guise of a human and give various instructions or other information. It has happened several times in the scripture. Obeying an angel is safer than obeying a human, even if it was a prophet.
If they are not as a form of human they are like a bright light in their appearance. Hard to miss that they are from God then.
God bless you
