Maybe the religious parents were not having Faith at their heart. They were maybe sinful and God did not care about their prayers. I have not read the article you linked to, but there may be an explanation.
You need to know the whole story. Although I have always wondered why God created all these herbs and substances if they were not to be used. We are able to interact with God's creations.

Fever is not just a symptom but God's sign of any developing disease in the power form and that is the only parameter to identify if an underlying disease, whether it is cured or not. The fever starts as a physiological curative force which when put down forcibly using MM medicines takes the form of the pathogenic force causing the pathology in the physiological organs resulting in myriad diseases. If the fever is cured without symptomatic medicine, it is sure sign the individual is cured of ailments before they show their head; if it is increasing then it is a clear sign, the disease is taking shape concretely. I just finished reading your article Peace Vs. Emotions; Health Vs. Diseases. Although it was an interesting read, I do not think it can be applied to everybody in daily life. at least not with my level of intelligence. Even if it is possible to achieve the kind of peace you are referring to, one has to go through a lot of meditation and years of practice to reach to that level. If we look at the Quran, it has been written in such easy and logical way that its teachings can be applied to any kind of race (educated or uneducated) in the world. Some of its teachings are even being followed (unknowingly) by people who do not even know a word called Quran. It has been written so easy that we do not really need to be obsessed with it to understand its teachings. Obsession can lead to negative effects like the people in the past who created Hadith in order to explain it in detail.
Coming back to the thread, Current medication system is a developed form of Herbal and traditional healing process used in the past to cure illness. development means a progression from a simpler or lower level to more advance and mature level. It may happen that some of the medicines have been manipulated by evil doers for their personal gain, that does not mean we can blame whole medical system as Evil's work. Instead of looking it from negative side we should be looking from positive side. Like development of medication system is a blessing from God to protect human against the diseases and illness caused by Shaitaan.

According to the understanding of Quran, destiny is preordainment upon every material out side of a man's soul starting from his every unit of a single cell to the every power exists out side of him for his gracious living, that shall have to deal with him justly. About medications
Every medication has side effects - some fatal, life threatening, causing permanent harm. in the United States, when you pick up medication from the pharmacy, they give you a list of potential side effects for that medication.
You need to weigh the risks and the benefits of the medications. The pros and cons. By the way, herbs are also drugs and need to be respected as such. They also can be deadly. Herbs like black cohosh, ginkgo, ginseng, etc have side effects. If you drink cola, coffee - you are consuming a drug called CAFFEINE. You know what caffeine does to your bladder, heart?
When taking any medication, you take a certain risk and it is a risk you take for treating a condition that can be detrimental otherwise. Before a drug is approved by the FDA, there is a process of testing (on animals, volunteer humans, etc) and the medications are regulated and studied. The "natural" supplements like vitamins though are not FDA approved which has lead to abuse with companies selling products without evidence to their claims. And also, drug companies trying to push their product with fictitious or sloppy studies trying to get FDA approval.
Greed, as God said in the Koran is a fault which drives people to commit evil.
In the past couple of decades, so many medications have come in the market. it is big business and consumers drive up the market. We live in a quick fix world. there is a pill for everything. there is a pill for weight loss. a pill to quit smoking. a pill for balding. a pill for gassiness. You name it, there is probably a pill for it and you don't necessarily need a doctor to get the pills. This is the culture and I don't think this is going to change much.
How many people will like a prescription of losing weight, strengthening the core muscle which would help with back pain. The attitude is I want the MRI, the pain medication....
And then there is a whole misunderstanding about depression. People do not understand mental illness. I am not happy with my life, I need that happy pill. Or I broke up with my boyfriend or going through divorce or family member died or pet died and I need Prozac or Xanax or that pill that will fix my life. brickwall
On the other hand, there is such negative attitude towards medications and medical intervention that people who really have mental or physical illness don't seek proper medical care. This is equally dangerous.
There is a fear and unfortunately, this fear is not without bases. I have this fear. Drugs are withdrawn from the market all the time. Some of these adverse events have been fatal and some have been devastating to the fetus. Thalidomide was a drug used to treat morning sickness on pregnant women which resulted on birth defects. My dad who has diabetes, and other medical problems had fear of taking his medications after he was informed of the side effects by his doctor and pharmacist. This is where he had to weigh the risks and benefits. Did his doctor give him a medication to harm him? No. He gave him medications to prevent complications from diabetes and not having the same fate as his father and his sisters who died in their early 50's.
I have inherited the same medical problems from my parents. Doctors are not trying to cure diabetes with medications but try to manage. I manage my disease with diet, exercise. I had to cut out breads, rice, pasta and a whole lot of things. Even the healthy stuff like fruits, I have to cut down and limit. I know that eventually I will be on medication for diabetes but postponing the inevitable as much as I can. I don't like taking medications and if it is something that I can control without mediation, I take that route. But if I get an infection that I need antibiotics for, I will take. And yes, I have gotten side effects from antibiotics and needed a different one that I could tolerate.
Medications are not an invention of satans as drfazl claims. And doctors are not prescribing medications to willfully cause harm. Doctors most certainly are not prescribing medications to pregnant woman that are category x and with the intent of causing harm to the fetus. Making such allegations and accusations is wrong and isn't that a sin?
I am sure people here have taken medications and have family members who have to know that they do help. and medical interventions such as screening for colon, cervical and breast cancer do help.
drfazl, calling doctors quacks, satans, evil, and so forth is a reflection on you and if anything, you won't be taken seriously and the concept that you are trying to put across only gets diluted with your vitriol.
Taking something that is a fact like some medications that are category X during pregnancy and then making a claim that all birth defects are due to medications and medical interventions, absolutely does not make you credible. Down syndrome as an example is not caused by medications. Not all intellectual and physical disabilities are due to modern medications as you claim. Viruses such as chickenpox virus affects fetuses. And so on.
Drfazl, Clearly you have very negative attitudes towards the medical profession and what you are doing is a disservice.
I sure would hate people to not get vaccinated against whooping cough, measles, rubella, polio and other viruses which in times past lead to much suffering and death. I sure would hate people not to seek medical attention when having chest pain as that could be a sign of heart disease. Or get a mammogram which would have saved much suffering like to my aunt who now has advanced breast cancer. Well, I can go on and on.
And most certainly, I would hate for a child to suffer and die because of parents beliefs and refusing to seek medical care. Ex instead of seeking antivenom when the child was bitten by poisonous snake, the adults prayed to God to save the child.
God also gave us the brain in addition to the koran and we must use them both.

Example person in her 40's prays that she will not have a child with Down syndrome. She ends up getting pregnant with a child who has Down syndrome. Does this mean her prayer didn't work? Or she was not truly faithful enough? Or that God failed her? Or is punishment from God? And so on.
This kind of thinking about prayer is wrong.
I believe in the power of prayer and that prayer changes things. Asking God to help prevent and ease the burden, to bear the hardship, the suffering, acceptance and strength to get through, to do the right things, i am a firm believer that prayers help in dealing with life situations. God provides, protects, heals but I have to do my part.
The Koran really is a guidance. Meaning I don't fall apart if something I value is destroyed or someone close to me leaves or dies. Possessions and persons come and go - this is what Koran teaches me. I do have emotions and it is normal to have them but it is how we deal with emotions, with life and suffering that Koran teaches us. For example, I learn from the koran not to get all riled up and react when people say or do things that are insulting, offensive, mean spirited and hurtful. I ask God to help me when I get angry, sad, upset, hurt, stressed, distressed, afraid and God really does. Prayer does help.
But praying that God will fix a displaced broken bone putting it back together, I sure would like someone to explain how?

I am reminded of a story. There was a man who lived in this village. He was a very faithful man. There as warning of a flood coming his way. There was announcement in the radio and TV. People were all evacuating except this man. He stood on his porch calling people hypocrites for not believing in God and not having faith that God will save them. His friends and family tried to get him to evacuate but he refused. His faith will save him. He was a true believer. The flood came and the water was knee high. A friend came by boat pleading with this man to evacuate warning him that he will die. The believing man refused to budge. God will save him. The friend left. The the water rose and the man went to his roof top praying for God believing that he will be saved by God. Another friend came on helicopter pleading with this man to evacuate. The man called him weak and a disbeliever as God will save him. His faith is no match to any flood. God will rescue him. Well the friend tried but couldn't convince the man to leave and the friend had to leave as the flood was getting worse.
The flood swept the believing man who ended up dying. The man feeling betrayed by God asked why He didn't save him after all he believed so much. And God said "I sent a warning, sent a man by boat, a man by helicopter. Well, not much I can do if you are stupid and refused to listen."

What a fever is
It is a power with specialised and heightened activity of the energy system of a human nature. Temperature is nothing but active power. Normal temperature or power for a man to be active is 98.4 degrees. This is the normal temperature for basic physiological activities when a person is calm and quiet with peace in mind. We will confirmedly not forget this subject of essentiality of temperature for all bodily activities.
Now consider a disease develops in an active form somewhere in the bodily system. The temperature system of the body necessarily has to gear up its power and activity against this disease developing force. This is disease force or the "Pathogenic Force - PF". Against this PF, the "Defence Force" develops which we shall understand as "Immune Force". Thus the IF becomes disease preventing and disease destructible defence force.
First the disease force builds up causing feverishness with certain malaise and body ache. At an optimal rise of this temperature, the defence force builds up against the disease producing pathogenic force. This means the temperature physiologically rises against the pathological force to kill and eliminate the evil force totally from the body system. A great and considerable amount of the physiological energy from the entire body source converges upon for conversion to defence force. As the defence force is increasing the body temperature rises which we feel and say as fever.
This is the reason for the over all malaise with feverishness and weakness during the onset of a fever. Since the physiological energy is converted to defence normal activity of the physiological organs such as eyes, nose, throat, lungs, stomach, spleen, liver, colon, kidneys, skin and every cell becomes lethargic maintaining mere survival level of functioning. So there will be sluggishness of all the normal activities. There will not be thirst, appetite, shallow respiration, urine will be scanty and dark, and the external organs such as eyes becoming sunken, inability to do any physical activity and lying down in total prostration. This will go on until such time the defence force pins down the pathological force. Hardly within 24 hours of the start of high fever i.e. with its maximum defence power the job would be done. Thereafter the fever begins to fall and in another 24 hours the defence energy becomes re-distributed to the respective physiological force. Thus within or just about 48 hours any fever or the immunity will wash away the diseases of the future and settle down to complete normalcy.
It is common sense now the fever is to be honoured and welcomed for the higher the fever, the more powerful is the immunity which is a happy sign that confirms the person is perfectly ok. As long as the fever is not there while one is suffering from physiological organ dysfunction or pain and suffering of the external physical organs such as knee joint pain, muscular pain, body pain, headache, ear ache, tooth ache, throat pain, neck pain, hip pain, shoulder pain - these mean every disease will stay as silently growing chronic diseases till the organ is totally destroyed. They would diagnose these condition as chronic "itis" which means infectious affections using the name of the organ involved e.g. being frozen shoulder for there is no fever or temperature or immunity to remove the pathological force; now the doctors would resort to UV radiation, heat therapy, fomentation and so on. Yet nothing will do. The temperature must generate from the inbuilt fever mechanism. Who destroyed the immunity, the defence force, the curative high rise of temperature with the powerful antipyretic i.e., the anti fever drugs? It is the MM, the formidable enemy of entire human race.

What to do when there is a fever?
Since all the physiological organs' normal functional energy has been converted to defence energy, you shall absolutely have no functional ability. Naturally you will be prostrated. Take absolute rest and lie down in the most comfortable prone or semi-prone position. There will not be active thirst mechanism; so drink not water. Gastro-intestinal system will be paralysed; so feed not with any food for just 24 hours. Within this period the High fever will begin showing the signs of climbing down and the face of the patient will be brighter than the previous day. First the thirst will begin to show; sips of water at frequent intervals can be given; mind you, not gulps of water; the fever might increase for the heaviness in the abdomen will draw more energy from the defence force all of a sudden will cause the pathogenic force to regain momentum and as a result the immune force again will have to gather the strength to fight back all over. The fever will shoot up again. So be take sips of water as the defence energy turns back steadily into physiological energy. And within hours of dryness of the mouth appears thirst will develop more and more demanding water in large quantities. You can be very happy even at the heights of temperature that the disease is put down as you find the dryness of the lips and throat begin to appear for frequent sips of water. You will never drink anything other than water. The fever is extinguished after hours of water intake and the appetite will begin to start. Wait until the appetite kills you before taking the first morsel of food. In other words, once the appetite starts you will wait until after exactly 24 hours have passed before taking that first morsel of bland food. And that is it for the day. Then from the next day you can consume the normal food. The fever is cured and there is no disease of the future that would be chronic at any point of time.The anti fever medicine of MM is the reason for all the diseases from A-Z and death from every disease. Without this anti fever medicine the MM will be extinct from the surface of the earth. The death-knell has been rung for the MM today.

Peace to Justamuslim, Oneandonly, Man of Faith and to All.
I would like to share my experience with regard to believe GOD ALONE for my health care not only for me, but for my wife, son and two daughters.
By GOD's Grace I came in contact with Dr.Fazlur Rahman 15 years ago for my long list of ailments of 30 years since childhood and got cured , since then Iam having anew lease of LIFE .
My son was born in a Hospital before believing in GOD ALONE , and thereafter my two daughters were born at home without the help of any sort of medical system, leave alone Modern Medicine. Till date for any sort of ailment we turn towards GOD as HEALER by seeking forgiveness and patience .
We all would accept that GOOD intentions and deeds would bring as GOODS. But we find difficult in accepting the TRUTH that any hardships such as ailments, accident, socio-economic problems etc., are earned through our bad intentions and deeds. By GOD's Grace accepting this TRUTH gives us patience during the testing period, and this belief in HIS Prowess is growing day in and day out for the past 10 years in my family.
One more example for people who are jittery about accident and bone fracture. My close aide who fell flat from a height of 10 feet suffered fractured spine in the abdomen area. Initially he was admitted in a hospital, and the doctors suggested for surgery. He came across a fellow patient who was crippled after surgery , and by GOD's Grace understood that the treatment by any human system is not wholesome but half baked.
Thereafter in consultation with Dr.Fazlur Rahman resorted to faith healing over phone, and his consoling words helped to tide over difficult times and strengthened his belief in GOD as HEALER. He was only able to move in a sitting position with hunch backed. After two months , one night during high fever his back straightened up, to a great relief and realised as newly born. Since then seven years have passed and he feels even more healthy and their family members too started believing in GOD ALONE as HEALER.
Kindly note that Iam just one among the thousands who have benefited cure from all sort of ailments which are not humanly possible.
Presently this could be difficult for many to comprehend, do not NEGATE , rather feel how nice it would be a community without any ailments , trust in GOD and he is sufficient for us.

Thanks for the sharing your truth revealed upon you.
It is increasing our belief further more upon "Allah alone".
I would like to add, I am another one in thousands of family follows "one and only Allah"as advised by drfazl for all needs.
May Allah forgive me if i set up any equals to Allah while i know.
He is the one feeding me, watering me & Healing me. And He do not want any helpers to do these when he created me from nothing.
- Thee alone do we worship; unto thee alone do we seek for help.
May Allah protect us from dirty knowledge and guide us all to know the hidden truth.
And you are right, even i was offending this way before but really god grace as he is unrivalled merciful, I am being directed towards "Allah alone".
