To Those Who Prohibit Reciting Prophet's Name For Shahadat and Duroot.
-
Salamun'alaikum. sun
After six months joining this forum and already reading some posts in here.I noticed if some Quran alone follower say if reciting Prophet's name like Muhammad, Ibrahim etc is forbidden during recite shahadat, dzikir, or even during Salat or prohibiting write name of Phrophet alongside Allah in the mosque.
But after I reopened my Quran again, I got some points
-
There is no verse in the Quran which prohibit reciting Phropet's name during salat and writting Prophet's name alongside Allah in the mosque.
-
But the verses in the Quran was mentioning if we must obey Allah's Rasuls by following the messages they delivering (the Quran).
-
When we say something like "lailahailallah muhammadurrasulullah (There is no illah (God) beside Allah, Muhammad is Allah rasuls)".
Look by saying something like that, are we going to worship Muhammad or set a equal beside God? Not right.
It's like we honoring our national heroes, is that means we worshipping them? of course not.
It's like Nabi Muhammad, Nabi Muhammad is our beloved Islamic hero who struggling for delivering the message to his ummat. So it's not strange if we honoring him as Allah's rasul.
The conclusion is we aren't worship Muhammad but just honoring his name as a hero. -

It is NOT shirk.
Unfortunately, some Quranists (including Rashad Khalifa) are copying Wahabists definition of shirk, while shirk has a totally different meaning in the Quran. All they can do is just shout SHIRK at everyone they don't agree with, just like some salafis/wahabis shout allahu akbar when killing innocent "kafirs" (most of the time muslims from a different sect).
Also see http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9605007
Edit
Ofcourse, there will be people who won't agree with me. Because they know that the shahada in itself is no shirk, they will change the subject to traditionalists, taking some extreme cases (and exaggerating) how they praise the prophet 50 times a day. However, this is not the subject. The subject is the Shahada, not what the traditionalists do. The shahada is no shirk. What the traditionalists do is none of my biz niz, God is the best of all judges.
Edit2
A good post from above topic
Good points raised. The reason why some Quranist see all this as shirk is due to how they understand what shirk is. Many Quranist came from a Sunni background and in the last decades there has been a strong influence by whats known as salafis. They understood shirk to be intercession and veneration. However shirk if studied properly is radically different than what many assume.
I have reseacrhed more than theirty pagan traditions and have found shirk to be a radically different theology than what is sometimes assumed. Sunnisma nd Shiasm and even Christianity and Judaism have nothing to do with shirk.
I have dealt with this issue here
http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9603937.msg299923#msg299923
As can be seen shirk is very different than anything you mentioned. Shirk is a theology and not a behavior. You don't commit shirk, you either believe in it or not. No monotheist can ever commit shirk.

Peace mohf.

I'm not Rashad Khalifa follower, yeah some term such like the word zeena, shirk, junub is different from Quran, hadith and dictionary.
I'm also reading your thread and my answer is "C" for all questions.

I think not, because the meaning of shirk is differently each other according different point of view.
ExampleI live in a Javanese village, and my people often mixing Hindhu rituals with Islam.According to Quran, it's okay because that rituals is dedicated to Allah not anyone else, but by Sunni traditionalist ulema, they will labeled my village as a shirk village becaue Nabi Muhammad never do that.
SO according my villager, that was not shirk but traditionalist ulema says it's a shirk.
So if we mentions Muhammad name during Shahada is okay, as long as we aren't made Muhammad a God like Christian made Yesus a God

Peace,
I deem it idolatry when you do not dedicate your whole life, prayers, personal sacrifices absolutely to God alone.
When you excessively commemorate Muhammad for example, then you have an idol. If you believe he can do anything for you then you have an idol. If you praise him and idolize him in an unhealthy admiration then it is idolatry. This applies to any person.
You can have a role model, but there should be limits. We should only follow God and be our own individuals.
Of course there are cases when people are afraid of idolatry just for thinking about Muhammad or mentioning his name anywhere, but it is not that bad. We need to draw our own distinction between what is idolization and not.
Mentioning Muhammad and his family's name repeatedly during a religious gathering is obvious idolatry, who would argue that? Mentioning his name during every move in a prayer is idolatry, who would argue that? Saying Ya Ali (o Ali) every time one rises up to is idolatry, who would argue that? Putting up banners with Ya Hussein or Ya Muhammad, especially in mosques is idolatry, who would argue that? Who would argue that people do not idolize Muhammad and other powerless people who are also not in this world anymore?
It has nothing to do with traditional understanding, it is my independent opinion and also together with interpretation of Quran.

...1) There is no verse in the Quran which prohibit reciting Phropet's name during salat and writting Prophet's name alongside Allah in the mosque...
I give you the following two verses of The Qur?aan among many others.
2014
Verily I myself; I AM ALLAAH. There is no god but Me, so worship Me, and establish Salah for My commemoration.
7218
And that the mosques belong to ALLAAH; so, do not invoke anyone alongside ALLAAH.

It's depending on our niat, Man of Faith. If you calling Muhammad's name because praising him as Islamic national hero and as Allah's Rasul then it's still okay. But if you worship Muhammad as a equal of Allah, then it's different story.
Ya Ali, Ya Hussein hehehe, it's the symbol of sectarian especially Shiah.I will hang back for saying that name.
So it's shirk or not is depending on your niat.

Sorry kgwithnob,is reciting Muhammad's name is a act of shirk?
Is by reciting Muhammad's name, means we setting equal to Allah?Yes that verse is talking about Allah is only God, but not as commandment for prohibit recite Muhammad's name.
7218
And that the mosques belong to ALLAAH; so, do not invoke anyone alongside ALLAAH.
Plus if a Muslim recite Shahada of Muhammad, this means we worshipping him?
Just tell any Muslim both Sunni or Shia even Quran alone, is there anyone of them worshipping Muhammad like worshipping a God? -
Peace,
I have a question regarding this. Given the topic and context of this thread, what about elevating the status of a Messenger above other Messengers, which we are warned about in the Quran?
The issue of the second (the word second is important since it shows there is another but this one is prefered) shahadah is not that just saying it makes one commit shirk. That clearly can't be the case because its all about your intent.
It is about the intent of creating a second shahadah when there already is one in the Quran. Just like the people who are told to say the phrase repentance upon entering a village but they couldn't even do that they had to edit and substitute it. Also it can be the intent of some of those who say such a phrase and say well its only mentioning Muhammad not praising him. But I hear some Sunni etc say that Muhammad was the greatest Prophet. - It all builds into this idea they have of Muhammad of more than just a Messenger like any other Messenger, the way they follow hadith even when it goes against the Quran. Allah swt knows their intent best.
The second shahadah also exists in hadith not the Quran - this preference of the hadith version relates to the issue of taking anyone else above God when God has already stated one point and then the scholars state another - the scholars, rabbis, monks, priests etc of the day, above your actual Lord.
"They have taken their rabbis and their monks-as well as the Christ, son of Mary-for their lords beside God, although they had been bidden to worship none but the One God, save whom there is no deity the One who is utterly remote, in His limitless glory, from anything to which they may ascribe a share in His divinity!"

Salaam,
I reccomend to everyone to do as much as possible durood, it's benefits are beyond imagination
1.For every Durood Shareef that you recite, ten sins are forgiven, ten good deeds are entered into your sheet of actions and ten positions are upgraded.
2.Allah showers ten blessings on the man who recites a Durood.
3.The first man who will meet Muhammed on the Day of Judgement will be that person who had recited the Durood maximum number of times in his lifetime.
4.Those who recite Durood in maximum number will be nearest and dearest to Muhammad in the next world.
5.If any one is involved in a difficulty then he must recite countless number of Durood Shareefs.
6.Reciting Durood Shareef eradicates poverty and hunger.
7.If the Sawaab (meaning benefit also spelt as Thawaab) of the Durood Shareef is dedicated to another person, then that person will receive the Sawaab, while the Sawaab of the reciter will not be lessened.
8.Reciting excessive Durood Shareef brings purity.
9.Reciting maximum number of Durood Shareef is full compensation of all sins.
10.Any one who recites excessive Durood Shareef in this world will be safe and sound in the next world.
11.When a prayer is made to Allah it is never accepted unless praise of Allah Ta'ala and Durood Shareef on Muhammad is first of all recited.
12.Those who recite Durood quite often will see Divine Light on the dark Day of Judgement.
13.Three persons will be under the cool shade and the favours of Allah Ta'ala on the Doom's Day. One who kept Muhammad's Sunnah alive, one who removed difficulty of a fellow being and one who recited maximum number of Durood Shareef in his lifetime.
14.When you forget anything and your memory fails to recollect it, then recite Durood, you will remember the forgotten thing.
15.Reciting Durood in this world is rewarding in the next.
16.The reciter of 10 Duroods in the morning and 10 in the evening will receive the help of Muhammad on the Day of Judgement.
17.One who recites Durood Shareef near the shrine of Muhammad is heard by him there and then alone.
18.Any one who recites Durood is just as one who purchased a slave and freed him.
19.Muhammad said that he himself recites blessings on one who recites Durood on him.
20.Any one who wants to meet his Allah with a happy face must recite countless number of Durood Shareef.
21.Reward equivalent to a big mountain (Uhad) is given to one who recites one Durood.
22.All people will be presented to Muhammad with their habits, natures and distinct manner, so it is obligatory for a man to recite maximum number of Durood.
23.Allah is Great and Almighty to forgive all sins of the reciter during the day and night when he recites Durood Shareef.
24.If any one meets in a tragedy, he should recite Durood Shareef in countless numbers.
25.Reciting Durood is like giving something in charity.
26.Reciting maximum number of Durood kills all hardships.
27.Recite Durood Shareef in countless number on Friday, as it is presented to me (Muhammad).
28.Bad deeds of 200 years (equivalent) are obliterated if a man recites 100 Durood on Friday.
29.Anyone who recites Durood will overcome all their troubles.
30.If the name of Muhammad is mentioned and one who hears it but does not recite Durood Shareef, understand that he has forgotten the path to Paradise.
31."I pray for all those who recite Durood on me", said Muhammad.
32.If any one recites Durood Shareef from any place, any part of the world from any distance, it actually reaches Muhammad immediately. Allah Ta'ala has appointed several Angels who are given exclusive duty to collect all Durood Shareef and present the same before Muhammad immediately.
33.Angels of Allah shower 70 blessings on a man who recites Durood once.
34.Whenever you hear the call of prayers (Azaan) you should recite Durood.
35.Wherever you are, from any quarter of the world, you must recite Durood as it reaches Muhammad.
36.Ablution is not complete if Durood is not recited on it.
37.Muhammad said to his wife that any one who hears the name of Muhammad and does not recite Durood on him will not see the beautiful face of Muhammad on the Day of the Judgement.
38.Sayyiduna Ali (radi Allahu anhu) reports that Rasoolullah said, "The real miser is he in whose presence I am mentioned and then he fails to recite "Durood" on me".
39.If a person recites 1,000 Durood Shareef daily, he will never die unless he himself sees his place in Heaven with his own eyes.
40.The Durood Shareef that is recited by the person is written with a Golden Pen on a Silver tablet by the Angels. The Angels then present this Durood Shareef to Sayyiduna Rasoolullah and proclaim, "O Habeeb of Allah! The son of such and such a person has presented this gift in your majestic court".Source CLICK

Its when you make a prophetic biography as a theology at the expense of the other as Christian's do with Jesus's crucifixion or Muslim's do with Muhamed's hijra and biography that you create the problem. All prophets have their unique biography and all have their own contributions as an example to us. We must not distinguish any over the others or isolate one over the others.

Here's the problem with bringing Muhammads name into Salat. This is a video of Shia Salat. They say the name Muhammad maybe five times more than they say Allah. Who are they worshipping? It's very easy to fall into the trap of Prophet Worship. It's human nature. And I believe most Muslims have assigned Prophet Muhammad as a partner besides God (or in some sects, they've put God beside Muhammad). But they will never admit it. Love the Prophet, respect him? Sure. But people always take it too far. Yet another failed test. Worship is for God alone. Don't fall into the trap of Prophet worship. Watch this Shia Salat...

I think they have variance in what to say in ruku and sujood. Even Sunnis do not have specifics.
- It is better in normal situation to say Subahanallah three times, or Subhana Rabbiy al-A'la wa bi hamdhi once. And he should utter these words in succession and in correct Arabic. Actually, as an obligatory precaution, uttering any Zikr to this extent is sufficient. And it is Mustahab that Subhana Rabbiyal A'la wa bi hamdhi should be said three, five or seven times, or more

Salam.
Saying "Muhammad is God's Messenger" isn't wrong but the problem is God alone isn't enough or complete according to mainstream 'Muslims'.
According to mainstream "Muslims", mentioning God alone isn't enough.
And the 2 Shahadahs. Why is only Prophet Muhammad's name mentioned? Why aren't Jesus, Isaac, Enoch, Adam, Moses, Ishmael, Jacob, Abraham, Solomon, Noah, Lot, Joseph, Zechariah, David etc mentioned? -
Peace,
Easiest solution just mention God's name when you pray. Then you do not idolize anyone and maximum focus is on God. I really see no point in mentioning anyone else other than God.
Also, you really never knew any of the prophets personally and you do not know who you pray for. And your prayers are having no real effect and they are also "out of the game", game over, they have their final score recorded. And if they are in paradise nothing is going to change that and they were promised nothing but peace. No need to wish them more peace.
Commemorating and excessively thinking about them is to have an idol. Same would be that if you, for example, would think about Abraham Lincoln several times per day and he is always on your mind when you think about God. Now is that not that tantamount on idolatry so tell me.
You can read up on someone but it should not become such an obsession that much of your time is spent thinking about this person.
Consider what is the connotation for the word idol.
I would take it so far as to say the Quran can be an idol, if you stop believing God has any present spirit in this world and is only working through the Quran, despite it being the exact wordings of God. Then the Quran is your intercessor and not God. It is not an idol if you believe it to be the Guide it is and that you will gain help from God to interpret it and that He will guide you right in life by applying its rules. And of course doing righteous deeds based on the rules you have in Quran, they are your guidelines, a fundament to make decisions in life upon.
God bless you

Say, 'What testimony is of greatest import?' Say 'God's. He is witness between me and you and this Quran was inspired to me to serve as a warning to you and anyone it may reach that you bear witness that there are other gods beside God.' Say 'I do not bear witness', Say 'He is the One God and I disown those whom you associate.'
Say 'we believe in God and what was sent down to us and what was revealed to Ibraheem and Isma'eel and Iss-haq and Ya'qub and the patriarchs and what was given to Musa and I'ssa and what was given to the prophets by their Lord, we do not differentiate among any of them and we are submitters unto Him'.
When the hypocrites come to you they say 'We bear witness that you are the messenger of God' God knows that you are His messenger, and God bears witness that the hypocrites are liars.
-
Peace everyone,
Salat and prayer focus on us recognising and acknowledging our connection to God. It is all about God and our relationship with Him. Its strange that people say they want to be close to God swt but then do they want to focus on God in terms of their prayer? And do they want to talk about God's guidance in its many ways, or do they want to mention all the things Prophet Muhammad apparently did and then follow that even when it goes against the Quran? Simple things like ablutions for example up to things like death for apostasy. In terms of mentioning other people, I would say its more when we want to ask God for guidance about a relationship or something like that. Or if there is someone that we know, who is facing difficulty or something and to ask for help, blessings and just reassurance from Allah swt.

Very Good,
When GOD ALONE is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the
Hereafter shrink with aversion. But when others are mentioned beside Him, they become satisfied. Some folks are just not satisfied with God alone, they feel the need to "add" something
due to fear, ingratitude, disrespect, or ignorance, rather it be jesus, muhammad, john smith
(mormon), mary, or haile selassie. The question is, why can't followers let go of those
who point them to God?ONE DEEN

Supportnotwar, Lets try not use hadith as prespective, but I will give you example
You're from UK right? then how you honoring your queen, you may say somthing like "Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth".By say something like that, is that mean you worship Queen Elizabeth as a God? Not right ).
And the verse 931, you pointing out is about Christianity. When Prophet Muhammad was alive, did he say "I bear witness that There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger"?
Did Prophet Muhammad recite Durood during Salat and send blessings upon himself and his family?Aamer. No no no no no.I'm not reciting Shahadat Nabi like dua in hadiths like tahiyat akhir. When I join Quran alone, I never again recite that kind of du'a, cause it's "strange".
I reccomend to everyone to do as much as possible durood, it's benefits are beyond imagination
Good point Bender. But the points you pointing out are advices from hadithsSo it's not wajib if we believe that or not.
Also Al-Azhab ayat 56, clearly stated. There is nothing wrong with mentioning Muhamad's name but there is nothing wrong with mentioning any other prophets' name. There is nothing wrong with establishing a calendar based on the supposed Muhamedan hijra but there is nothing wrong with establishing a calendar based on the supposed Jesus's birth or Joseph's release from prison or David's ascension to the throne of Noah's escape by the ship or Moses's crossing of the Ocean.
Yeah Bigmo. It's nothing wrong as long as we praise the Nabis in limittes as hero only, not as God.
Yeah we can also make a calendar counted from supposed Muhammad hijra and it's not disturbing our faith, because dIfferences in fatwa is not too important (see 2177)http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7KlHNez5eA&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Haha. They're not Islam but a Muhammadanism.

Not only Muhammad, but also you can recite something like "Sholallah ala Ibrahim, Sholallah ala Ismael etc" ).Easiest solution just mention God's name when you pray. Then you do not idolize anyone and maximum focus is on God. I really see no point in mentioning anyone else other than God.
Man of Faith, don't forget about verse 3356.
-
Pixel Angel Baby, thank you to pointing out some good ayat, but you may also don't forget to ayat 3356.
When GOD ALONE is mentioned, the hearts of those who do not believe in the
Hereafter shrink with aversion. But when others are mentioned beside Him, they become satisfied. You may read my reply above this post.
As long as we not worshipping Muhammad saw like a God.
Verse 3945 is not a prohibition for honoring Muhammad's name, instead verse 3356 order us to do it.
