    Peace,

As per my understanding, the best definition of the word Layl is in 3637.

    3637
3637 And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it day, so they are in darkness.

It is so clear and simple to understand and it also supports 1712.

May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path pr

Im with you on that and thats what i have been saying but Wakas made me think when he pointed out that Allah says He removes the day/light from IT. Therefore he sees it refers to the word Night in the verse. Which draws him to the conclusion that if night is darkness, what light is there to be removed?

Unless He is talking about moonlight? But then, you don't remove moonlight.

I have to say that even though he stated that Maghrib doesn't have a specific time point because it is when the sun is setting, well doesn't layl also not have a specific time point? Since there is night with light in it, night with darkness..?

If it really is night time when it is dark, that is refered to in the verse, then how long would that be before "ghusaq al layl"? Which i am under the impression is at least 1 1/2 hrs after sunset? Just guessing

      Peace,

      handshake

Red Layl is few minutes after Ghasaq alLayl not before. Here in my area, night is almost after 35-45 minutes after sunset.

      May Allah bless you pr

          Peace

Quran only give the meaning of maghrib and layl in general term, but for more specific ways, like counting 1/2, 20-30 minutes etc, it's more better if we still counting the proper hisab from country autharities.

Like me, I still depending on normal adzan as a sign for knowing when is subh, ashar, isya' etc.
