It might help if we all clarify what our sawm is to others as Maryam did. I see no reason that one may not abstain from as many things as one likes unless one has a direct revelation from God telling them what they personally must not abstain from.

Months should be understood as they were at the time of revelation, i.e. according to the Julian calendar.
