:: Do tawakkal on Allah or be a mushrik ::
-
Salaam,
This is going to be a huge topic which will be hard for all of us to practice. May Allah make it easy for all of us pr
InshaAllah, I will write here whatever I was taught by Allah about doing tawakkal on Allah or else be a mushrik, with the permission of my Lord, Allah alone.Warning This is just my personal understanding, please refer all the aayaat quoted very carefully and seek Allah's help on the same.
Tawakkal is an Arabic word, which simply means rely or be solely dependent. At the moment I am not going into its derivatives and other usages.
We are to do tawakkal on Allah alone being a mumin otherwise we may fall mushrik .
(Please click on the aayaat numbers to see more translations)
82
The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely.
People get confuse with tawakkal and araada as in 226. Like for example, if you do araada i.e., intend to start a new business and could not able to decide, then consult with other believers and when you decided to take a start, then just rely on Allah instead of making plans. Like expecting this much sale per day and so that the turn over will be this much, then I may able to buy this and that in a year and so on.
3159
So by mercy from Allah, you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in the matter. And when you have decided, then rely upon Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who rely .
I hope this aayat is clear enough to understand what I said above, inshaAllah. If it is still not clear, then continue reading with the next aayat i.e., 3160 carefully, inshaAllah you will understand.
Someone may ask, how do we do tawakkal on Allah without making any plans? Making plans by yourself will keep you away from your Lord, Allah. Why do you not think that Allah is the best planner for you? He is Knowledgeable of past, present and future, so can we plan better than Him in any ways? If still you think, that you can plan better even after you are told to rely on Allah, then you are keeping yourself beside Allah, hence becoming a mushrik.
If you think, we can plan first then later we can rely on Allah for everything, then you are a loser. Because why will Allah help you on your plans, when you are asked to be dependent solely on Him alone? Take a look at father of Yusuf.
1267
And he said, "O my sons, do not enter from one gate but enter from different gates; and I cannot avail you against Allah at all. The decision is only for Allah; upon Him I have relied, and upon Him let those who would rely rely."
What do you find wrong about Yusuf's father in the above aayat? Anything?
Yes, he made a mistake by planning and then he rely on Allah. He planned by asking their sons to 'not enter from one gate but enter from different gates'. It was a mistake because when you rely or do tawakkal on Allah, He will never let you down.1268
And when they entered from where their father had ordered them, it did not avail them against Allah at all except a need within the soul of Yaqoob, which he satisfied. And indeed, he was a possessor of knowledge because of what We had taught him, but most of the people do not know.
See what Nooh said in 1071 about tawakkal.
See what Musa said in 1084 about tawakkal.
See what Shuaib said in 1188 about tawakkal. Why they do rely on Allah? They do rely on Allah because of its benefits. If we do rely or do tawakkal on Allah ALONE, then even shaitaan is not able to play tricks on us, inshaAllah.
1698
So when you recite alQuraan, seek refuge in Allah from shaitaan, the expelled.
1699
Indeed, there is for him no authority over those who have believed and rely upon their Lord.
16100
His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who through him associate others with Allah.
Please also note that how tawakkal and shirk is in relation in the aayaat given above.
So, on what things we should do tawakkal on Allah? Answer is on everything.
The most difficult part to rely or do tawakkal on Allah is on our living. We don't rely on Allah by making so many excuses, like why have Allah give us intelligence and strength? Is it not to decide and plan what is best for us? NO!
That means, if Allah makes us strong or a body builder, then we should beat or slap every one while walking on street?
Allah has given us brains, intelligence to acknowledge Him.See what the following aayaat has to say regarding this.
2959
Who have been patient and upon their Lord rely.
2960
And how many a creature carries not its provision. Allah provides for it and for you. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
What do you find the relation between these two aayaat?
See how creatures rely on Allah, they don't carry their provision, but Allah does not only gives them, but He provides it for you too, just ask Him. He is Hearing and Knowing. And take a look at the following aayaat what Ibrahim has said.
2678
Who created me, and He guides me.
2679
And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.
Here you can ask how? Like He promised in the above aayaat.
2680
And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.
It means, if we get sick, do not have to visit doctor. NO!
Allah is the best doctor for you, inshaAllah. Doctors keep you far far away from Allah.
They ask you not to eat red meat , they ask you not to eat how much you needed, they ask you to reduce weight and eat more and more non-veg , etc. Everything is against the book of Allah. If you try pondering on many many aayaat in the book of Allah, you will notice how this tawakkal thing is made mandatory.
For example, please take a look at Yusuf.1233
He said, "My Lord, prison is more to my liking than that to which they invite me. And if You do not avert from me their plan, I might incline toward them and be of the ignorant."
1234
So his Lord responded to him and averted from him their plan. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
See how Yusuf seek Allah's help and He answered him.
1242
And he said to the one whom he guess would go free, "Mention me before your master." But Satan made him forget the mention his master, and Joseph remained in prison several years.
See here, how he rely on that guy who is go free instead of relying on Allah and he remained in prison for several years.
You can also take a look at 1156, 11123, 1330, 3938 and 653.2557
Say, "I do not ask of you for it any payment - only that whoever wills might take to his Lord a way."
2558
And rely upon the Ever-Living who does not die, and exalt with His praise. And sufficient is He to be, with the sins of His servants, Acquainted.
12108
Say, "This is my way; I invite to Allah with insight, I and those who follow me. And exalted is Allah; and I am not of those who associate others with Him."
May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path and make us solely dependent on Him alone pr

I need some time to ponder, brother.
I like your knowledge sharing - post, as usual.
However, I'm not sure if we don't do tawakal on Allah then it will be mushrik.
About tawakal itself, I truly like it and I'm grateful to Allah that He orders us to rely on Him.
I think tawakal is good, but honestly it is not always easy to practice because sometimes it needs lot of patience, and also very big trust in Allah.
Thank you very much for sharing your understanding.
Peace.

tawakkal on Allah or else be a mushrik
I believe the option between "tawakkal" or else "mushrik" is not accurate. It is religionism.
Allah is the "Mutasyaabihat" and how can someone tawakkal to "Allah" without first understanding his duty in the Quran?
Now, let's assume Muhammad receive a complete Quran when he became a Prophet, a very beautiful Book perfectly compiles by Allah.
Could he immediately practice all the commands and prohibitions in the Quran, without leaving any single verse?
If not, is it a sin? Is he a Disbeliever?
Could Allah say to Muhammad, "You are not a Believer. I have given you the Book, and you should immediately practice without failed !".
Understanding takes time and that's why many of the above verses are actually the last verses of the Quran.
I believe it is more accurate to say that they are "reformers". . .
Except for those who <- "sincere" and all the following requires understanding
(1) repent
(2) correct themselves
(3) hold fast to Allah and
(4) are sincere
(5) in their deen
(6) for Allah
for those will be with the believers
And Allah is going to give the believers a great reward

However, I'm not sure if we don't do tawakal on Allah then it will be mushrik.Salaam,
Thanks for your reply and vote.
I respect your views. I know it is very hard for most of us to accept it.About tawakal itself, I truly like it and I'm grateful to Allah that He orders us to rely on Him.
If you understand what could be the purpose of asking us to rely on Allah, then inshaAllah you will understand the shirk part?
Allah stated about Ibrahim in 2678-81, hence he was called means he was not of the mushrikeens . These words was not said for anyone else except for Ibrahim.Because he relied on Allah for food and drinks and he relied on Allah to cure him when he gets ill . You will not see even these words for anyone else except Ibrahim.
I believe that another word used for only Ibrahim is . This word also explains a lot. Hanifa means to cut off everyone and everything from the path of Allah and inclined towards Him alone.
I think tawakal is good, but honestly it is not always easy to practice because sometimes it needs lot of patience, and also very big trust in Allah.
I agree that it needs a lot of practice and patience.
Thank you very much for sharing your understanding.
Peace.You are very welcome.

Salaam,
Thank you for your reply, hope you gave the vote, inshaAllah.
I know and I understand that this part is really difficult to accept. BTW, I respect your views.
I disagree with religionism part.Allah is the "Mutasyaabihat" and how can someone tawakkal to "Allah" without first understanding his duty in the Quran?
I don't understand why and how you said that Allah is mutashabih hmm
Yes, understanding Him from alQuraan needs a lot of time.
I have given you the Book, and you should immediately practice without failed !".Sorry bro, I don't know whom you are talking about.
But you are correct that no one is asked to practice alQuraan immediately without leaving a single verse.
Understanding and practicing of each topic of alQuraan needs a lot of time.Understanding takes time and that's why many of the above verses are actually the last verses of the Quran.
I don't know what you means by 'last verses of the Quran' hmm
I believe it is more accurate to say that they are "reformers". . .

(4146)Thank you for this aayat.
If you notice in 1699 the word used is and in 16100 the word used is , what relation do you understand between these two words here?
I strongly believe that tawakkal and shirk part can be understood easily by self practicing it and it is really difficult to understand by reading other's views.
May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path pr

But you are correct that no one is asked to practice alQuraan immediately without leaving a single verse.
Understanding and practicing of each topic of alQuraan needs a lot of time. Therefore there is no option as either "tawakkal" or else is a "mushrik". .
tawakkal on Allah or else be a mushrik
In facts, it is our duty (or any Muslim) to reconcile all parties (ie. this is the subject matter of "tawakkal". .
And if two parties of believers battle with each other <- so they are not mushrik!
you shall reconcile them
but if one of them aggresses against the other
then you shall fight the one aggressing
until it complies with God?s command
Once it complies
then you shall reconcile the two groups with justice
and be equitable
for God loves those who are equitableThe believers are brothers <- and they are believers, and brothers!
so reconcile between your brothers
and be aware of God, that you may receive mercy
(49.9-10)and Allah continues by command the believers not to mock or ridicule any of them, regardless of their madhab / religion . .
O you who believe, let not a people ridicule other people
for they may be better than they
Nor shall any women ridicule other women
for they may be better than they
Nor shall you mock one another, or
call each other names <- such as calling others as mushrik or kafir!?Evil indeed is the reversion to wickedness after attaining faith
And anyone who does not repent
then these are the transgressorsO you who believe, you shall avoid much suspicion, for some suspicion is sinful
And do not spy on one another, nor shall you backbite
Would any of you enjoy eating the flesh of his dead brother?
You certainly would hate this
You shall observe God. God is Redeemer, MercifulO mankind, We created you from a male and female
and We made you into nations and tribes
that you may know one another
Surely, the most honorable among you in the sight of God is the most righteous
God is Knowledgeable, Expert
(49.11-13). . .
Thank you for this aayat.
If you notice in 1699 the word used is and in 16100 the word used is , what relation do you understand between these two words here?
Verses 16.199 and 100 is not about "tawakkal". . .
When you read the Qur?an, you shall seek refuge with God from Satan the outcast.
He (Satan) has no authority over those who believe, and who put their trust in their Lord.
His authority is over those who follow him, and set him up as a partner.
16.98-100But (4146) is the conditions for them to be "Believers", even though they are not yet the (True) "Believers". . .
for those will be with the believers
(4146). . .
I don't understand why and how you said that Allah is mutashabih hmm
What I means is no one can understand or explain what is Allah, and
the requirement in verse (3.7) is to believe and ignore the subject
Allah merely asked us to focus on the part of hablum minannas (humanity), not on the the hablum minallah (sin, reward, paradise, hell etc.)
This is the key to the success of Muslim UmmahI don't know what you means by 'last verses of the Quran' hmm
I mean in its chronological order of the revelations . . .
-
Therefore there is no option as either "tawakkal" or else is a "mushrik". .
Salaam brother,
We are not talking about whole alQuraan, but we are just discussing on a single subject. If you do so, you are doing this or else you are among them. I don't find your reasoning suitable here.
In facts, it is our duty (or any Muslim) to reconcile all parties (ie. this is the subject matter of "tawakkal". .
And if two parties of believers battle with each other <- so they are not mushrik!
you shall reconcile them
but if one of them aggresses against the other

and be equitable
for God loves those who are equitableThe believers are brothers <- and they are believers, and brothers!

(49.9-10)Thanks for the aayaat.
There are many different levels IN momineen. Such as
3323
Among the believers are men true to what they promised Allah. Among them is he who has fulfilled his vow, and among them is he who awaits. And they did not alter by any alteration.
12106
And most of them believe not in Allah except while they associate others with Him.
and Allah continues by command the believers not to mock or ridicule any of them, regardless of their madhab / religion . .

the requirement in verse (3.7) is to believe and ignore the subjectThe word mutashabih used in 37 is not about Allah but it was used for aayaat of alKitaab.

If you do so, you are doing this or else you are among them.
I don't bother much to be a mushrik because I know it is not within human power to decide who is mushrik
especially when one have presented with direct ayat from the Quran and with proper reasoning
unless it shows that they want to take over God's power. . . to become God.and . . in fact, I believe even Abraham himself was not confident he and his family are Muslims . . .
And Abraham enjoined his sons and Jacob
?O my sons, God has selected the system for you
so do not die except as ones who have submitted (to Islam).? <- they are not yet following Islam?
2.131so , you can call me a mushrik if that what's make you happy . . .
. . . .
There are many different levels IN momineen.
What is your point ?
And if two parties of believers battle with each other <- so they are not mushrik!
(49.9-10)The point is. . Allah refer them as "Believers" and when they are disputing with each other,
ie. one of them or both of them are not complying with Allah's command in the Quran. . .
and which include, "if one of them aggresses against the other"
Allah does not refer them as mushrik , and Allah said they are "brothers"Therefore, what's the merit of your point ?
Allah said they are "Believers" and you want to argue that they are "not Believers" ?? They are mushrik ?
. . .
I never meant in that way, my Lord knows my intentions.
Don't worry. . no one is perfect.
. . .
What are the Arabic words for the highlighted words above from your quote?
Again, what is the merit of your point ?
The ayat said. . .
When you read the Qur?an, you shall seek refuge with God from Satan the outcast.
He (Satan) has no authority over those who believe, and who put their trust in their Lord.
His authority is over those who follow him, and set him up as a partner.
16.98-100The context of the subsequent ayat is related to "When you read the Qur?an"
It is about our understanding (faith) when reading the Quran . .
It is obviously got nothing to do with the topic of "tawakkal" (action) you have mentioned in here.
. . .
As I said above there are different levels in believers.
Allah said "are only", and therefore they are only one type of "Believer" . .
The believers ARE ONLY the ones
who have believed in Allah and His Messenger
and then doubt not but strive with their properties and their lives in the cause of Allah
It is those who are the truthful.
(49.15)The believers ARE ONLY those who,
when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and
when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and
upon their Lord they rely
(8.2)and you have to understand how to read the "legal structure" of the Quran.
. . .
The word mutashabih used in 37 is not about Allah but it was used for aayaat of alKitaab.
AND the alKitaab is about Allah. Does it make any differences ?
. . .
You said something on Allah that you have no knowledge about and which I cannot dare to.
Evidence needed from alQuraan, please.Angels prostrate to Allah (hablum minallah) and Adam (hablum minannas) . . .
Iblees prostrate to Allah alone (hablum minallah, ie. bigotism) .Iblees is Allah/ God Alone.
Therefore, God Alone is Iblees. . ie. the path of Iblees.
. . .
Sorry, I don't believe in such crap which is not supported by alQuraan in anyways.
So you believe Allah gave Muhammad a Book perfectly compiled when he become a Prophet ?
I don't believe in that crap.

I don't call anyone kafir or mushrik. Why should I call it to someone? And what is there which makes me happy to call it? hmm

So you believe Allah gave Muhammad a Book perfectly compiled when he become a Prophet ?
I don't believe in that crap.
Who is Muhammad? Please take a look at my detailed thread here.

You should analyze and understand these aayaat carefully 1745 - 1746 and 3945 and 4012.
So what is your conclusion ?
You don't agree that Iblees prostate to Allah Alone, and the angels prostrate to Allah and Adam ?
Ignominy shall be their portion
wheresoever they are found
save (where they grasp)
a rope from Allah (hablum minallah)
and
a rope from men (hablum minannas)
(3112)Who is Muhammad? Please take a look at my detailed thread here.
I don't know what's the merit of your point but what I'm trying to show is that there is a chronological order of the revelations. . according to the link I've given or else, doesn't matter. . and because Allah does not send a Book perfectly compiled to Muhammad. This chronological order of the verses is very crucial to the understanding of the Quran because it shows us step by step how to understand and implement the rules in the Quran.

Peace,
I am doubtful of the word's meaning as prostrate at all but I believe it to mean submit or humble. Perchance the word does not even mean that but mean behold or similar is in admire something. Just as 'muslims' in this case I doubt that God told the angels/controllers to physically prostrate or even submit to Adam. That would be against the decree even if explicitly told by God. It does not suit the context. It seems retarded that God asks the angels to submit to Adam. Pay homage or something similar I could agree on, but in that case you pay homage to God as well when you do sujud in a masjed (I know Wakas' interpretation of it not meaning place of worship but I did not buy that at least not yet).
The same is when people are told to enter gates in sujud. It simply cannot mean prostrate intricately but pay homage which can be done in more ways than prostration even if the word has become associated with it in the traditional Arab rites and later forgotten of its more generic meaning. Pay homage can be done by bowing your head or kneeling (with one knee for example) so it is a very generic meaning of the word.
God bless you
-
It seems retarded that God asks the angels to submit to Adam.
Isn't that what the angels do all this time ? To serve human beings etc ? Well. . I do believe it is consistent with the facts of the Quran , and to serve Allah means to serve other human beings , to follow Allah's commands for the benefit of ourselves, family, friends and other human beings. . . It is all about human beings and because no one knows what is Allah.
-
Peace,
It may be so, but that they submit or yield to Adam is still slightly inaccurate. It seems a bit off. Pay homage to the human Adam could be it in that case. A show of respect to him. All except Ebless accepted to do it because he was too arrogant to show any respect to someone as inferior because he is made of fire while humans are of mud.
If they serve anything it is God and not some human. If they do something for us it is because God decreed an order. They are hardly subordinate to us.
God bless you
-
If they serve anything it is God and not some human.
If this is your contention . . then we don't have to serve and take care our family, children, friends, family and other human beings . . . We only serve God and pray all the time , but wait. . .what is God's commands in the Quran ? Righteousness etc ? Isn't it to serve other human beings ? Now. . . is this the same as what the angels are doing for all this time ? ie. God command angels to serve human beings . . . prostrate to Adam (ie. mankind).
And when your Lord
took from the children of Adam
from their loins
their descendants <- this is what Adam represents
and made them testify of themselves
, "Am I not your Lord?"
They said, "Yes, we have testified."- lest you should say on the day of Resurrection
"Indeed, we were of this unaware"
(7172)
To serve Allah is to serve mankind . . .
You alone we serve (ie. through serving mankind, righteousness), and You alone we seek for help.
1.5God orders justice and goodness
and that you shall help your relatives
and He deters from evil, vice, and transgression
He warns you that you may remember.
(16.90) - lest you should say on the day of Resurrection
-
Peace,
I do not doubt that the service of mankind is in our mission. But the issue here is submission to Adam under the same "banner" as is done traditionally in a masjed. And I say that the conceived prostration here is a much milder word in the context more to show respect or pay homage. The angels are in service to God and they serve God alone. But they can show respect to Adam and so did all except Ebless.
God bless you
