Poligamy or not depends on the laws and set up of a society. A society which founds a lot of its functioning in marriage alliances iand which besides practices poligamy will impose on the most signified of its members by political need and also in case of conflict by social need that kind of alliances on its most signified members. Christians under those circumstances have also practised it and the church may not have recognized them as canonical marriage but has accepted them as de facto marriage and blessed them, not like a canonical marriage but as positive unions.

So I doubt that given the particular circumstances prophets had blanket prohibition of poligamy. But as to the Qur'an it is clear that it is monogamy that is held as the normal marriage and that if poligamy, whether masculine or femnini is not outright prohibited it is because there may such demographical circumstances that make poligamy a question of life or death. I have already mentionned several times the case of Paraguay after the War of the triple alliance against them, females outnumbered males 20 to one, and the males left were old decrepit men and minors under age. By law at that time free love was declared at the time. Once the population balanced again, monogamy was again brought back by law. So once those circumstances do not prevail any more, also there is no justification for poligamy.

Poligamous marriage for pleasure is not justified and I doubt in fact that it exists, it is more a question of "standing". If you are powerful and rich you want to show off having a miss Universe as a wife, or several, that kind of thing.

    Salaam

      Peace all

      POLYGAMY A BLOT ON MUSLIMS

      (REFUTATION PART ONE)

And if you fear that you cannot act equitably towards orphans, then marry such women as seem good to you / Marry women of your choice / then marry those that please you of women / then marry such as please you, of other Women two and three and four; but if you fear that you will not do justice (between them), then (marry) only one or what your right hands possess; this is more proper, that you may not deviate from the right course.43

According to the followers of Hadith the above verse gives the permission to men to marry four women and at any given time they can have four wives and not more than that. But before accepting their hypothesis we need to cross- check with the Quran and find out whether the said verse do really allow four wives or we are simply misguided.

Firstly I will refute the interpretation of the proponents of polygamy and then I will give my own version in detail which will open your eyes and you will awake you from the zombie sleep.

A guardian when he fears that he will do injustice to the orphans then in that case to avoid injustice to the orphans he should marry two, three or four other women according to his capacity, but if he fears that he will not be justly with the two to four wives then he should opt for one Other woman or satisfy himself with one MMA, by doing this he will not deviate from the right course.

The reason / purpose / intention to marry two, three or four women, is to avoid injustice to orphans. Therefore the condition to marry two, three or four women is the guardianship of the orphans and the fear of injustice to them. If you do not have orphans under your guardianship, and if you do not fear of injustice to orphans, then you cannot marry two, three or four women. This is the most simplest and clear interpretation of the verse. Without guardianship of orphans and without fear of injustice it is haram to marry more than one woman. It is not a straight forward command to all believers to marry two, three or four women.

O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will?. 419

And (O ye who believe) do not marry those whom your fathers married?. 422

(O ye who believe) Prohibited to you are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your father's sisters, your mother's sisters, your brother's daughters, your sister's daughters, your mothers who nursed you, your sisters through nursing, your wives' mothers, and your step-daughters under your guardianship of your wives unto whom you have gone in. But if you have not gone in unto them, there is no sin upon you. And the wives of your sons who are from your loins, and that you take two sisters simultaneously, except for what has already occurred. Indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful. 423

All the above commands (PROHIBITIONS OF MARRIAGE) are crystal clear and all commands are directly addressed to the believers, unlike verse 43 which is not crystal clear in its message for men to marry four women and neither is it directly addressed to the believers.

And marry the unmarried / single among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. (An-Noor 32)

Do you know that the above verse is also distorted?

And marry the unmarried / single among you the AYAAMA are females and those who will marry them are males and the verse further continues, ?AND the righteous among the male slaves and the female slaves? the audience of the first command to marry female single/unmarried are males and the further command to marry male and female slaves are also addressed to the first audience, therefore how is it possible for men to marry male slaves.

Allah is talking about poor people, and the male servants and the female servants are guaranteed poor, but what is the guarantee that the single/unmarried women are poor?

Actually they are neither single nor unmarried but they are WIDOWS who are poor

= your male servants your female servants (housemaids)

The actual translation is? And MARRY OFF the WIDOWS among you and the righteous among your MALE SERVANTS and FEMALE SERVANTS. If THEY should be POOR, Allah will enrich THEM from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing

Because the conspirators translated ANKIHU in verse 43 as marry, they had to translate ANKIHU in the above verse as marry but they forgot about MALE SERVANTS.

Allah will never enforce His wills on His subjects. All are His creations then why He will give preference to one over other, for Him rich or poor, male or female, beautiful or ugly all are same, yes, but He will always instruct you to help the needy, the orphans, the poor, the widows, the MMA, the male servants, the female servants, the freeing of slaves, the travellers. Helping and marrying off the orphans, widows, MMA, male servants and female servants is a righteous deed, and is a responsibility of the believers as an individual and as a member of the society, and it is for this purpose that we are sent to this world. Otherwise animals and birds are also there who live for themselves. We have read the Quran may be a thousand times, but still we have not properly understood who the orphans are.

Now within this verse there are umpteenth questions which needs answers

The first question How problem of A is solved by marrying B or C.

Let me explain you in simple language by rephrasing verse 43

And if you fear that you cannot act equitably towards (AMERICAN) orphans, then marry such women as seem good to you / Marry women of your choice / then marry those that please you of women / then marry such as please you, of other (BRITISH) Women two or three and four; but if you fear that you will not do justice (between them), then (marry) only one (BRITISH WOMEN) or what your right hands possess (CHINESE) this is more proper, that you may not deviate from the right course.43

The orphans are AMERICANS, the OTHER four women are BRITISH and the MMA are CHINESE. Now explain me how the marrying of BRITISH women and CHINESE women could, avoid injustice to AMERICAN orphans? Without knowing the exact reason of injustice how could one find a solution of that? If I am doing injustice to one orphan named Maryam and if I want to avoid injustice to her, then what should I do, Should I marry a free believing woman named Aisha? Will my marriage to Aisha avoid injustice to Maryam? If marriage to Aisha can deliver justice to Maryam then why I need to marry, Jamila, Humaira, Sakina and pause.

The proponents of polygamy should explain how they will solve the problem of injustice to orphans by way of marrying other women? They should identify the cause of injustice. Forget the numbers two, three or four.

The second question the omission of preposition (MIN) from the translation.

Why all translators ignored/ neglected MIN from their translation?

then marry those that seem good to you/ please you / of your choice OF / FROM /AMONG women

The likely interpretation of the above is that men marry men also, that is why Allah has mentioned OF / FROM /AMOMG women. Some translators, to avoid the confusion, inserted OTHER in the verse, thereby sending a message that these OTHER women are not the female orphans from the group of orphans. My question is why they inserted ?OTHER? when there is no Arabic word in the verse? Why they want to distort the clear message of the verse by inserting the unwarranted word?

What is their explanation of MIN AN NISSA?

among the ignorant, among mankind, among the righteous, among the doubters, among the losers, among the people of the Book, among men, women and children,

So according to me it should be ?then marry such as seem good to you FROM / AMOMG THE WOMEN (it means men also marry men)

The third question (it is logical as well as intelligent)

And if you fear that you cannot act equitably towards orphans, then marry such women as seem good to you / Marry women of your choice / then marry those that please you of women / then marry such as please you, of other Women TWO OR THREE OR FOUR.

To avoid injustice to the orphans the guardians need to marry only OTHER women, but why they need to marry TWO OR THREE OR FOUR. Is it not possible to marry one and avoid injustice to the orphans? Are they playing a number game? WHY marrying one woman cannot render justice to the orphans and HOW two, three and four women can render justice to the orphans? Let the supporters of polygamy answer this question.

Anyway, the numbers required for marrying other women to avoid injustice to the orphans is minimum two and maximum four. As these are the words of Allah they should be perfect and cannot be changed.

but if you fear that you will not do justice (between them), then (marry) only one or what your right hands possess; this is more proper, that you may not deviate from the right course.

Now Allah has changed the minimum requirement of other women to ONE which previously was TWO. Allah also changed the category/class of the women from free believing women to believing MMA. By marrying ONE other woman or marrying one MMA if the justice is rendered to the orphans, then why in the first place, Allah commanded the guardians to marry two to four women, thereby increasing their marriage expenses. Do you believe that Allah will ever change His command?

Alif, Lam, Ra. a Book whose verses are perfected and then presented in detail from Wise and Acquainted 111

The verses are first perfected and then presented but this verse contradicts the verse 43. But it is not possible that the Quran can ever contradict itself like Hadith, therefore it contradicts only because the interpretation of marrying four women is wrong. You will find no contradictions, no change in the numbers of women if your interpretation is perfect.

The purpose / reason / intention of marrying two to four women, was to avoid injustice to the orphans, and not for sexual purpose. But the sudden switch in the command to marry one or MMA, it becomes personal and the purpose/reason/intention of reducing the number or marrying MMA now focusses on avoiding injustice to the two, three or four women (not yet married them) instead of focussing on avoiding injustice to the orphans. Why the focus of avoiding injustice shifted from the orphans to the wives?

      The fourth question

Such women as seem good to you / Marry women of your choice / then marry those that please you of women / then marry such as please you, of other Women

What do the translators mean by ?Such as seems good to you?? Is it that men do marry women who do not seem good to them?

What do the translators mean by ?Marry women of your choice?? Is it that men do not marry women of their choice?

What do the translators mean by ?marry such as please you?? What method should be applied to know which women please and which women displeases.

Did you not attain maturity so that you decide whom to marry? Are you a baby so that Allah will hold your hands and teach you how to walk? Do you need Allah to teach you each and everything, if it is so then why HE did not mention the complexion of the women (white/fair/black)?

in the above verse Maa taaba lakum is ?those agreeable to you?

that you may not deviate from the right course. / Thus it is more likely that ye will not do injustice / That is more suitable that you may not incline ./ that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice.

By marrying only one woman or MMA the guardian is prevented from doing injustice to the (future) wives, but at the same time he is doing injustice to the orphans because to avoid injustice to them he was supposed to marry two, three or four women. Do the proponents of polygamy have any answer to this interpretation?

It is the fear of injustice to orphans that forces the guardians to marry from two to four women and it is the fear of being unjust to the two to four women that forces the guardians to marry only one woman, but what is the fear that forces them to marry MMA? Why marriage to MMA is mandatory? Is MMA a vitamin B12 complex that can be taken by anyone to overcome weakness? Will a marriage with MMA, who does not have any link to the orphans will avoid injustice to the orphans?

The fifth question to whom this verse is addressed and to whom it is related?

According to hadith and the proponents of polygamy this verse is addressed to the guardian believers and if it is so then why all believers are marrying four women without orphans under their guardianship? The main reason of marrying two, three or four is to avoid injustice to the orphans, then ask those thousands of Muslims, who have married more than one woman, to how many orphans they have rendered justice? Should I marry Maryam to avoid injustice to Aisha? Let the supporters of hadith prove that all believers can marry up to four women.

The sixth question why distorting the meaning of Muthna (twos), Thulaath (threes) and Ruba? (fours)

A second standard child (of Arabic medium school) knows that are two, three, four and are in/by twos, threes, fours then why the translators translated these words as two, three and four. I believe that the only intention behind this is to legitimize the four wives at a time for men.

Say, "I only advise you of one - that you stand for Allah, in PAIRS / TWOS and individually, and then give thought." There is not in your companion any madness. He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment. 3446

Do you know why they distorted the count?

The reason is crystal clear, if they translate it as twos or threes or fours, then the Muslims need to marry two women at a time, three women at a time or four women at a time, and marrying two, three or four women at a time is next to impossible, so to avoid the confusion that will be created in the minds of the readers after reading this nonsense they played a dirty trick with the count and distorted it to suit their hypothesis of four marriages and the shameless, so called, scholars accepted it blindly, never protested never investigated, and forwarded it to the next generation.

The following reading will shake you like tremors shake mankind and buildings

What did the conspirators think that their conspiracy will never be exposed? Will Allah not expose them?

So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn. 279

If you fear, (a future tense) (FEAR not explained) pray on foot, or riding, but when ye are in security, celebrate Allah's praises in the manner He has taught you, which ye knew not (before). (2 239)

If you fear (a future tense), (fear is not explained) and the command that follows is to pray on FOOT or RIDING. In clear words it is not a command to PRAY on FOOT or RIDING but to pray on foot or riding ONLY when there is a FEAR (of unexplained), otherwise the believers cannot PRAY on FOOT or RIDING but STANDING. Is it clear?

If you fear a breach between them twain, appoint (two) arbiters, one from his family, and the other from hers; if they wish for peace, Allah will cause their reconciliation For Allah hath full knowledge, and is acquainted with all things. (4 35)

If you fear (a future tense), (fear breach between them) and the command that follows is to appoint arbiters to maintain peace. In clear words it is not a command to appoint arbiters but ONLY when there is a FEAR of breach between them otherwise you cannot appoint arbiters. Is it clear?

When ye travel through the earth, there is no blame on you if you shorten your prayers, if you fear that the Unbelievers May persecute you For the Unbelievers are unto you open enemies. (4 101)

If you fear (a future tense), (fear Disbelievers may persecute) and the command that follows is to SHORTEN the PRAYER. In clear words it is not a command to SHORTEN the PRAYER but to shorten ONLY when there is a FEAR of the unknown enemy, otherwise the prayers have to be offered, as offered normally in peace. Is it clear?

43 is not different from the above three verses but it is exactly in the same format

And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphans then marry those that please you of women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline . (4 3)

If you fear (a future tense) (fear injustice to orphans) and the command that follows is to marry up to four women of your choice or MMA. In clear words it is not a command to marry four wives but to marry four wives ONLY when there is a FEAR that you may do injustice to the orphans otherwise you cannot marry four wives. It is as simple as that.

After reading the above verses and its interpretations, is there anyone who can say that 43 is a general and open command to the believers to marry two, three or four women or MMA.

      More tremors to follow

      To be continued?..

      Thanks

      Salamun Alaikum!

Good article! I agree 80% of what you've written!

But, what do you mean by Men also marry men?

      Wassalam!

        Peace Ijaz

Men do not marry men but when the translators assume ANKIHU as MARRY then the literal meaning of the verse coveys that men also marry men. It is but natural that men marry women so there is no point of placing MIN AN NISSA ( AMONG THE WOMEN) in the verse. if it is marrying then there should be no NISSA in the verse. I pointed out the distortion the translators committed. NISSA in the verse changed the whole meaning of the verse and the hypothesis of polygamists falls flat on their faces

        I hope you understood

        Thanks

I know that Muslims here do not follow hadith and I do not either!

My Sunni friend gave me this, so I wanted to share this

(If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphan girls.) She said, "O my nephew! This is about the orphan girl who lives with her guardian and shares his property. Her wealth and beauty may tempt him to marry her without giving her an adequate dowry which might have been given by another suitor. So, such guardians were forbidden to marry such orphan girls unless they treated them justly and gave them the most suitable dowry; otherwise they were ordered to marry woman besides them.''

Any thoughts? This does not make sense ;D

              Wassalam!

                Peace Noon

There are many words in Arabic that has multiple meanings and care must be taken to use the appropriate meaning of the word depending upon the subject / context of the verse

                WIVES 2234
                CATEGORIES 1588
                MATES 3511
                PAIRS 788

Which meaning you will apply for all the above verses (choose only one)

Do you believe that ANKIHU has only one meaning?

I say that AZWAJ means PAIRS only. Is it correct?

43 and if fear you that not do justice yeh of in the orphaned/bereaved so betroth/take in marriage yeh of what lawful for you from the womenfolk paired/twos and three and quadruplet/four so if fear you that not thou justice/equivalence yeh of so one/single (f/s) or what possess aymnukum/right hands yours such minimum that not thou oppress yeh of

paired/twos and three and quadruplet/four Could you marry in twos and threes and fours. have you ever heard anyone marrying women two, three, four at a time?

                http//i.snag.gy/IXS5g.jpg http//i.snag.gy/NWV8M.jpg

                http//i.snag.gy/WO1TB.jpg http//i.snag.gy/klA7F.jpg

                http//i.snag.gy/wGoxO.jpg

                http//i.snag.gy/LnF9r.jpg

Show me how the guardians will marry two at a time. three at a time and four at a time. the above are not my meanings of Thulaath, muthnaa and ruba'a but of masters of Arabic.

so if fear you that not thou justice/equivalence what is the fear that makes the guardians reduce the number from twos, threes or fours to one or MMA.

PROVE THAT BY MARRYING THE "YOUR OTHER WOMEN", THE GUARDIANS WILL DELIVER JUSTICE TO THE ORPHANS?

PROVE THAT BY MARRYING MMA THE GUARDIAN WILL DELIVER JUSTICE TO THE ORPHANS

THE GUARDIAN BY MARRYING OTHER WOMEN OR MMA WOMEN WILL NOT DELIVER JUSTICE TO THE ORPHANS BUT WILL DELIVER JUSTICE TO HIS SEXUAL DESIRES yeah

                from the womenfolk

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "FROM THE WOMENFOLK?" DO MEN MARRY MALES? WHY ALLAH SHOULD SAY FROM WOMEN? DOES ALLAH NOT KNOW THAT MEN MARRIES WOMEN ONLY. ALLAH WILL ONLY SAY FROM WOMEN WHEN MEN MARRY MEN ALSO.

PROVE THAT IT IS A CLEAR CUT COMMAND TO ALLBELIEVERS TO MARRY UP TO FOUR WOMEN

FOR YOUR KIND INFORMATION THERE IS NO MARRIAGE IN TWOS AND THREES AND FOURS WITHOUT THE ORPHANS AND WITHOUT THE FEAR OF INJUSTICE TO THE ORPHANS.

READ THE FOLLOWING AS IT WILL HELP YOU HOW TO UNDERSTAND VERSES

                Why replacing wife?

But if you want to replace one wife with another and you have given one of them a great amount , do not take from it anything. Would you take it in injustice and manifest sin? 420

Why the word REPLACE and not marrying of second, third or fourth or on and on. Why no ADDITIONS to the existing wife but her REPLACEMENT. It is crystal clear that anyone who wants second wife then he should replace the first wife by means of divorce

What Allah has said in the Quran

And NEVER will you be able to DEAL JUSTLY between the wives, even if it is your ardent desire But turn not away altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air). If ye come to a friendly understanding, and practise self-restraint, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful 4129

There is a doubt on the wisdom of Allah when He allows men to marry four women, when He very well knows and already declared in the Quran that men cannot DEAL JUSLTLY between wives even if it is their ardent desire and moreover He has issued a command to the believers to DEAL JUSTLY.

Indeed, Allah ORDERS to DEAL JUSTLY and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded. (16 90)

How will Allah allow mankind to have four wives when He knows that mankind can never deal justly between wives? How will Allah override His Own command to deal justly between mankind? Will Allah allow His believers to touch the fire when He knows that they will burn their fingers in the fire? Will Allah allow men to touch the fire when He has already issued a command not to touch the fire? This is ridiculous.

Come out of the shell of ANKIHU (MARRY) and see the manifest truth of 43 BEYOND THAT. Do not just translate the verse but explain the verse also. ANSWER THE QUESTIONS THAT ARISES FROM THE AMBIGUOUS TRANSLATION OF THE VERSE.

                Thanks

                  Peace Ijaz

What the Sunni fellow gave you is half, read the full story with my comments.

READ, How Hadith has explained verse 43, (For entertainment purpose only)

                  (And if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry (other) women of your choice, two) Allah commands, when one of you is the caretaker of a female orphan and he fears that he might not give her a dowry that is suitable for women of her status, he should marry other women, who are plenty as Allah has not restricted him. Al-Bukhari recorded that `A'ishah said, "A man was taking care of a female orphan and he married her, although he did not desire to marry her. That girl's money was mixed with his, and he was keeping her portion from her. Afterwards, this Ayah was revealed about his case;

Where is the FEAR of INJUSTICE in the above explanation? Either you pay dowry and get married or forget it. For not marrying an orphan a guardian is allowed to marry four wives? WHAT JUSTIFICATION IS THIS? What about those believers who do not have ORPHANS under their guardianship? Should they also marry up to four women?

Afterwards, this Ayah was revealed about his case; Does Allah needs incidents to happen to reveal His commandments?

(If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly)'' Al-Bukhari recorded that Urwah bin Az-Zubayr said that he asked A'ishah about the meaning of the statement of Allah,

So, such guardians were forbidden to marry such orphan girls unless they treated them justly and gave them the most suitable dowry; otherwise they were ordered to marry woman besides them.'' `A'ishah further said, "After that verse, the people again asked the Messenger of Allah (about marriage with orphan girls), so Allah revealed the Ayah,

(They ask your instruction concerning the women..) 4127.'' She said, "Allah's statement in this Ayah,

(yet whom you desire to marry) 4127 refers to the guardian who does not desire to marry an orphan girl under his supervision because she is neither wealthy nor beautiful. The guardians were forbidden to marry their orphan girls possessing property and beauty without being just to them, as they generally refrain from marrying them (when they are neither beautiful nor wealthy).''

Have you ever come across a verse which says that the guardians cannot marry those orphans who are wealthy and beautiful unless they deal them justly?

(two or three, or four), means, marry as many women as you like, other than the orphan girls, two, three or four. We should mention that Allah's statement in another Ayah,

(Who made the angels messengers with wings, - two or three or four) 351, does not mean that other angels do not have more than four wings, as there are proofs that some angels do have more wings. Yet, men are prohibited from marrying more than four wives, as the Ayah decrees, since the Ayah specifies what men are allowed of wives, as Ibn Abbas and the majority of scholars stated. If it were allowed for them to have more than four wives, the Ayah would have mentioned it. Imam Ahmad recorded that Salim said that his father said that Ghilan bin Salamah Ath-Thaqafi had ten wives when he became Muslim, and the Prophet said to him, "Choose any four of them (and divorce the rest).'' During the reign of Umar, Ghilan divorced his remaining wives and divided his money between his children. When Umar heard news of this, he said to Ghilan, "I think that the devil has conveyed to your heart the news of your imminent death, from what the devil hears during his eavesdropping. It may as well be that you will not remain alive but for a little longer. By Allah! You will take back your wives and your money, or I will take possession of this all and will order that your grave be stoned as is the case with the grave of Abu Righal (from Thamud, who was saved from their fate because he was in the Sacred Area. But, when he left it, he was tormented like they were).'' Ash-Shafii, At-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, Ad-Daraqutni and Al-Bayhaqi collected this Hadith up to the Prophet's statement, "Choose any four of them.'' Only Ahmad collected the full version of this Hadith. Therefore, had it been allowed for men to marry more than four women at the same time, the Prophet would have allowed Ghilan to keep more than four of his wives since they all embraced Islam with him. When the Prophet commanded him to keep just four of them and divorce the rest, this indicated that men are not allowed to keep more than four wives at a time under any circumstances. If this is the case concerning those who already had more than four wives upon embracing Islam, then this ruling applies even more so to marrying more than four.

Where does Allah say that you can keep maximum four wives? From where did the idiot Bukhari got this story?

(But if you fear that you will not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one or what your right hands possess.) The Ayah commands, if you fear that you will not be able to do justice between your wives by marrying more than one, then marry only one wife, or satisfy yourself with only female captives, for it is not obligatory to treat them equally, rather it is recommended. So if one does so, that is good, and if not, there is no harm on him. In another Ayah, Allah said,

for it is not obligatory to treat them equally b]What more proof do the followers of Hadith need that the writers of hadith are anti Quran? Allah has ordered fair treatment between mankind but these idiots say it is not obligatory for the believers to treat the MMA equally.

How do these idiots know beforehand that they will do injustice to orphans? Are they magicians or god? What is SATISFY YOURSELF WITH ONE FEMALE CAPTIVES? In today?s world FEMALE CAPTIVES are not available then what should that chauvinist guardian do?

Why should the guardian opt for MMA when there are plenty of free believing women to marry?

                  Thanks

If the yatamaa are orphans, that includes both girls and boys. By the words marry min an-nisaa, I understand that it is adult persons, grown up women those who must be married, that is, the mothers of the orphans. Not the girl orphans as it seems that some people may have thought.

It is the community that is addressed, and it is plural. No individual male is addressed but all males that might fulfill the requisites for marriage. The in twos, in threes in fours, refers to the number of women marrying. Full stop. The sentence is formulated as a function of the women in question, not of the men, not of any other people. So two women may be married, three, four... twenty... n. It is preposterous to think that those women must be married to the same man. No, to any number of men that meet the requisites and are willing, the addressee is plural. It is the community, and since women must be married it is understood that they must be married by men, but why just one male, whence, by what miracle? Myself, I cannot explain, why or whence this weird interpretation that it refers to only one man when in fact all eligible men come into question. Plural, no singular man.

It seems that minds are closed like clams when it comes to interpret everything in the Qur'an on any basis that is not as a function of the males, when like in this case, it is clear that the given entity are the women to be married, not any man nor men in general. Nothing regarding them is being dealt with. It is something dealing with the orphans and their mothers, not with men. The community is addressed and it is being instructed to arrange those marriages in order to procure justice to orphans. Those are community assissted marriages and the community must see how many of those marriages it can afford to sponsor. That is why it is said "ma taaba lakum" min an-nisaa". That is which women you consider more appropriate to help that way bearing in mind all the factors.

I think that this thing about poligamy in this aya was contrived with the best intentions. It was a way to put it a limit, may be because those in power abused poligamy, went out of bounds and it was thought that if pushing a little (or a lot) this aya some bound could be put, at least that would be gained.

                    Salaam

                        Peace hafeez kazi

There are many words in Arabic that has multiple meanings and care must be taken to use the appropriate meaning of the word depending upon the subject / context of the verse

                        WIVES 2234
                        CATEGORIES 1588
                        MATES 3511
                        PAIRS 788

Which meaning you will apply for all the above verses (choose only one)

Its same word, need to be consistent choose closest meaning depends on context like any language.

2234 and the ones are dying from among you and leaving spouses/mates/color]

Do you believe that ANKIHU has only one meaning?

                        Yes.

I say that AZWAJ means PAIRS only. Is it correct?

                        No.
Pairs ?in English? equate to a couple, twosome, or only two of a kind.

567 and be you spouses/mates trio
3353 ? and not that thou marry yeh spouses/mates his from after him

paired/twos and three and quadruplet/four Could you marry in twos and threes and fours. have you ever heard anyone marrying women two, three, four at a time?

                        Yes.

Show me how the guardians will marry two at a time. three at a time and four at a time. the above are not my meanings of Thulaath, muthnaa and ruba'a but of masters of Arabic.

Then how do the "masters of Arabic" translate the verse?

Prove bereaved widows (with children) who agree to marry are all gorgeous and men only have desires?

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY "FROM THE WOMENFOLK?" DO MEN MARRY MALES? WHY ALLAH SHOULD SAY FROM WOMEN? DOES ALLAH NOT KNOW THAT MEN MARRIES WOMEN ONLY. ALLAH WILL ONLY SAY FROM WOMEN WHEN MEN MARRY MEN ALSO.

Please clarify question (use lower case) and what you mean do men marry males ? translate this verse?

422 and not thou marry/sex yeh whom marry/sex fathers yours from the womenfolk

PROVE THAT IT IS A CLEAR CUT COMMAND TO ALLBELIEVERS TO MARRY UP TO FOUR WOMEN

                        Why, you wrote it?

                        Why replacing wife?

But if you want to replace one wife with another and you have given one of them a great amount , do not take from it anything. Would you take it in injustice and manifest sin? 420

Why the word REPLACE and not marrying of second, third or fourth or on and on. Why no ADDITIONS to the existing wife but her REPLACEMENT. It is crystal clear that anyone who wants second wife then he should replace the first wife by means of divorce

Why not allowed to replace and how many?

3352 not lawful to you the womenfolk? from after and not that replace in them from spouses/mates ?

                        Why not allowed two sisters?

423 prohibited on you mothers yours and daughters yours ?
and that thou gather yeh between the sisters two ?

And NEVER will you be able to DEAL JUSTLY between the wives, even if it is your ardent desire But turn not away altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air). If ye come to a friendly understanding, and practise self-restraint, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful 4129

The verses are about divorce in general.

4129 and never thou be able yeh (m/p) that thou justice/equivalence yeh between the womenfolk and in case ardent desire yours so not inclined yeh each the tendency so leave her like the suspended one and if thou reconcile yeh and pious yeh so surely the god be forgiver merciful

Come out of the shell of ANKIHU (MARRY) and see the manifest truth of 43

I asked simple question in reply to your translation ?marry off?

2827 said that I I want that (translate?) any/one daughters mine these two?

Please translate word in context ? what did he want?

As a woman, I know that a woman actually want to marry a man whom she loves.

Even if a woman is a poor widow with many children, I think her true heart is still longing to marry with the man she loves and loves her as well.

WHAT KIND OF JUSTICE IS THAT IF THE WIDOWS HAVE TO MARRY THEIR "WEALTHY GUARDIANS" (WITHOUT LOVE) IN ORDER TO FEED THEIR CHILDREN??

DOES THE POOR WIDOW HAVE TO MARRY A MAN ONLY FOR FINANCIAL PURPOSE??

MARRIED FOR MONEY?? DOES IT JUSTICE??

Why not helping her to find suitable good husband, who able to take care of her and her children, but before they're married, make sure they have no objection marrying each other. Even though perhaps they're still not feeling in love, I think that at least man and woman need to like each other before they decide to marry.

Any people should be given the right to marry without any compulsion.

I don't protest those (men and women) who are truly willing to join polygamous family, but don't press anyone who aren't willing to do that even if they're poor.

                          Salm.

                            Peace,

It is important to know, Java latte, that in the beginning of the (in)famous 434 the word '' you know I spoke about which is wrong traditionally interpreted takes part. This means the translation ought to look slightly different there. Now when my search for the rightful interpretation of salat is finally over I can focus on injustice such as polygamy. The decree should be as the decree was once revealed to mankind and not according to conjecture by men.

                            Have faith

But that is what the aya says. It is addressed like the previous and the fo9llowing ayas, to the community, and it is a question of sponsoring marriages, so that no economic or sociaol hindrance is put on marrying women with children without fathers either because of social prejudice or because of because of shortage of means.

Those were mothers of fatherless children, they are told to see that those women and children could have stable and wel taken care for families. This aya, like so many have been deviated to a question of poligamy. But it is not there. We know that wealthy widows and beautiful, clever women do not have a problem to marry or remarry, no need to turn the eyes of the community to that and no need for the Qur'an to give particular injunctions concerning that. That is no problem.

But marrying socially outcast women, like single mothers, it is a problem and it has nothing to do with forcing women to marry anybody but with changing peoples hearts so that a good society really encloses and protect all its members, not only the "acceptable" ones. Also by making it a question of the community sponsoring those marriages, those who might be willing to marry the women, but fear social rejection would be encouraged and not discouraged. That is, that kind of marriage would be socially acceptable. And therefore normal marriages that might otherwise take place, but that do not occur due to social rejection of those women, could then take place.

Concerning the social mores in the Qur'an we seem to be in a cloud of unreality concerning women. NO women have ever had to be anything but honourably married women or honourable widiows. In spite of how loose social mores might have been or how male chauvinists men may have been, and therefore how numerous may have been the women with children but no father, because of being undeclared, or because of being outright denier of the fatherhood. It is our imagination only which says that those women do not exist in the Qur'an, that is in any of the social environments that come into question in the Qur'an, that is that we refuse to allow for the Qur'an to deal with things we suppose are not, as to the women, 100% honourable. But if men were or are not honourable, there must have been, there must be lots of women placed in an outcast social position.

In fact, researcher Faatima Mernissi says in one of her books that those women were indeed very, very common in the social set up. And I do not wonder, they have been always very common. Not in muslims countries now, because in some of those countries those children are forcibly taken away from the mother and put in orphanages. So no problem, no single mothers, but orphanages full.

That is not what the Qur'an says. The Qur'an does not speak of orhanages.

                              Salaam

I am against polygamy therefore I will never write that 43 is command to ALL BELIEVERS. It is for you to prove that 43 is a command to ALL BELIEVERS to marry four women. The verse is not directly addressed to the believers, but to mankind, There is no verse in the Quran where it says "O ye who believe Marry one two three or four women" You people twist the verse for your own convenience.

                                Why not allowed two sisters?

423 prohibited on you mothers yours and daughters yours ?
and that thou gather yeh between the sisters two ?

Two sisters are in the list of prohibition and not lawful.

Please clarify question (use lower case) and what you mean do men marry males ? translate this verse?

When you translate ANIHU as marry then it translates as "Marry from/among women" the mention of women in the verse conveys another message that men also marry men. It is but natural that men marry women and even Allah knows about it and when it is known by Allah then what necessitated Allah to command men to marry FROM/AMONG women. It is a logical question.

4130 and if are separated will enrich the god each from abundance his ...

You translated NISSA as womenfolk which is wrong. It is not women but wives. There are millions of women around the world then BETWEEN which women you will never do justice/equivalence. My dear brother it is BETWEEN WIVES and not the common women. Allah knowingly will not allow multiple wives when He knows that men can NEVER do justice /deal justly BETWEEN WIVES

I asked simple question in reply to your translation ?marry off?

2827 said that I I want that (translate?) any/one daughters mine these two?

Please translate word in context ? what did he want?
Perhaps not count so much on the masters of Arabic do your own translations.

There are many many words in Arabic language which have multiple meanings therefore care must be taken while applying which one is the closest to subject/context. There are two meaning of ANKIHU marry and marry off and in the above verse it is marry and not marry off and in verse 43. and 4127 and 2432 it is MARRY OFF. You agree or do not agree it is not my concern

I don't agree with you, it is my personal choice you don't agree with me, it is your personal choice.

We are standing at the two extreme ends therefore there is no point in debating and arguing further and creating animosity between us. Neither you can convince me nor you can change my stance towards polygamy and neither I can convince you nor can change your stance towards polygamy To you is your thinking, interpretation and understanding and to me is my thinking, interpretation and understanding.

                                Thanks

                                    Peace!

I find it unfortunate that people (in general) gets lost in translation. What I mean is that it is very easy to get stuck in a mind set where we treat words as objects or items and then try to match unique objects (i.e. words) of different languages with each other in order to translate a text. I believe we'd be wise to think more about meaning, the underlying meaning and concepts, of the words, and not just the apparent meaning given as a rigid label to a word. When dealing with different languages, we cannot think about language A in terms of language B, because then we'll lose much of the meaning we're trying to convey and translate. Sometimes we can translate one word of one language with one particular word in the other language, but mostly the overlap of the meanings of the two words is not perfect... the meanings do not correspond 100%. Sometimes the meaning in language A includes only a little more than what the corresponding word in language B does, but sometimes there is a big, big difference. Word A may be much more specific than word B.

Like 'baab' in Arabic is translated as 'door' in English, which is alright, BUT these two words actually denote two totally different things. A 'door' is an openable cover or flap, while 'baab' is the actual opening in the wall. In ordinary, everyday use, yes, both means door, but what happens if 'door' or 'baab' are used in other contexts than buildings? What if 'door' then no longer means 'baab'? We should not take anything for granted, but we should try to read the message and actual meaning, and not just the mechanical pairs of words that simple dictionaries give us. We may very well get lost in translation.

So, to me it seems that it is possible that could mean something like 'cause to be married'. Perhaps we cause someone to be married by marrying them directly, or perhaps by arranging a marriage between that person and someone else. If we see it like this then MARRY/ MARRY OFF/GIVE IN MARRIAGE/ ARRANGE OR FACILITATE MARRIAGE/ etc are no longer different things or different meanings. We can find one meaning which includes them all.

Let's tread carefully when handling different languages.

                                    Peace all

WHAT KIND OF JUSTICE IS THAT IF THE WIDOWS HAVE TO MARRY THEIR "WEALTHY GUARDIANS" (WITHOUT LOVE) IN ORDER TO FEED THEIR CHILDREN??

DOES THE POOR WIDOW HAVE TO MARRY A MAN ONLY FOR FINANCIAL PURPOSE??

MARRIED FOR MONEY?? DOES IT JUSTICE??

But Sister, who says this? Qur'aan has no such injunction. Nikah is a relational word. Woman selects or consents for marrying a particular man. Love or attraction or liking is built in.

But that is what the aya says.

I like your understanding about polygamy, sister huruf.

But some/many other translations make me upset.

I think some of the translations seem to impress something like that, brother.

For example, it seems that women of MMA don't have full right to refuse marriage proposal from their guardians?
