      Peace warda

Could you please first tell me where in the Quran is explained "HOW TO PRAY"

Could you please tell me where in the Quran is mentioned the names and timings of the three prayers ZUHR ASR and MAGHRIB

These are the primary questions and what you have asked is secondary

      Think about it.

      Thanks

          Salaam Warda,

There is no mention of it according to my recollection. I think praying/du'a is instinctual, we see men call out to Allah for deliverance, help and protection .

            Salam sister wink

please go to the homepage under WOMEN there is an article about women's dress code in islam.

Now a direct answer to your question - to my knowledge and understanding of islam there is nothing in coran telling you to be veiled when you pray.

Living in a muslim society, there are many women that are not veiled normally, but which "dress up with veil" for praying. When asked why I don't (sometimes quiete violently) I ask those The veil is widely understood as a protection of the women from the men (dirty eyes and so on). So, why do you put the veil on only when your alone with God ????

Usually I get no answer. Just once, someone told me the veil was for protection of djinn in that case...I said, then why only the women??? And that poor woman answered "because women attract the evil more than the men!!!" shock

              Peace be upon you,

"praying" du'a is done at anytime, anyplace, with any clothing, or no clothing.

Do not get "prayer" confused with "salaat".

                Hello everybody!

                Thanks for your answers.
So propably I confused you with my mentioning of prayer. Actually I meant Salat.

"praying" du'a is done at anytime, anyplace, with any clothing, or no clothing
                .
I know about that although I would not say du`a while not dressed oops

So, again, does it say in the Quran that women are to cover their head for SALAT?

                  Peace Warda

You are looking in the Quran that which is not there, but what you are practicing is also not in the Quran.

Why dont you search in the Quran for the three times and names of the prayers and its method of offering.

If you dont find about Hijab in the Quran, then you will not follow the wearing of Hijab while offering prayers.

But then if you dont find the three names and times of the prayer and its method, will you still follow.

Look for everything in the QURAN because it is complete and has neglected nothing.

                  thanks

                    Salam warda,

I very well understand your questions - you are in motion...just as most of us here on free-minds - some being already much further in their reflection. Just take your time.

Idol is right, prayer (duaa) is anytime anyhow when you turn to God.
Hafez is right, in coran you'll only find salatfajr, salatichaa. Assalatualwusta being the most balanced salat. Even though I pray (duaa) anytime anyhow, I still settle down in a specific manner for those two salat, but without hijab - I never did. Must admit it is still a kind of ritual to me, but the process of my mind has changed completely and it's for sure not "ritual salat" anymore.

I do not think you need to be embarrased before Allah of whether you are naked or not. We were created without clothes. Even if you do wear clothes and call out to Allah you are still naked before Allah because Allah sees all things.

Du'a is the equivalent of prayer, calling out to Allah. Check the ayaat I had given before and compare.

I searched for it; I found it quite a while ago but I think I dont have to prove you so. During the past weeks I was engaged with the Salat and since I was thinking all what Ive learnt over (the Sunni-way) I questioned the Ischarb/headscarf.

Yes, Joe you are right and I know what you mean. My intellect may tell me so. But nevertheless education has left traces in my personality, if you know what I mean. This is a question of how is your relation to your body. I think women do have much more an unfree, ashamed relation to their body since it was told us that so many things are "haram" and "aeb" , "shameful". The second aspect why I will not mention Gods Name while beeing naked is respect. In my understanding it is not respektful to mention His Name or make Dua while beeing not dressed. But those two aspects belong together propably.

Warda, who do you think made us? God, right? Don't you think God knows how our hair look like? God sees us all the time. Traditionalists being as stupid as they are ask women to cover their hair while praying, is it because women are tempting God and angels now?

Of course, I asked myself this question too (not who made us but why to cover my hair when praying to my Creator). And I was asked it from my non-muslim friends a lot. I must admit that I followed just the way it was told me to follow. When I started to make Salat I questioned a lot of things (headcover, menstruation, invalidation of Wudu,times,...) but answers were always its like this, its written here and there. And in all of the literature I own it is written that we are to cover our head. And instead of taking the Quran and searching for the answers I believed them. Sometimes I got frustrated and sometimes I did Salat just my way.

First it was objectivfying us telling the the men would triple at the site of a hot mama, now the same applies to God???? YUCK!!!!

I don't think anyone is suggesting to make an effort TO PRAY while naked, they're just using the extreme of nakedness to make the point that dress doesn't matter.

Yet, you don't have to go to any extremes to make sure every bit of skin is covered.

It even says in the Quran that on judgement day we will stand before Him as bare as the day we were created. We have nothing to hide from God and he's not ashamed of His creation.

Welcome to the Forum and congratuations on being a new Muslim.

As with a number of quranic terms there is some discussion over the precise meaning (lets say translation!) of the word Salat. Some people here talk about it as a contact-prayer, or "learning-connection". Other will use the term 'congregational prayer' or simply "Assembly." It has been a long-standing and wide rangeing debate on this site and I don't pretend to be able to articulate the various shades of opinion that have been expressed - but hopefully the above will give you some idea.

Dua is taken by most people to also mean prayer and its translation is less contentious. For myself the closest English word would be 'supplication'. I'm sure others will be able to offer their views on this - my own understanding is nothing more than that!

peace bro, May the God bless you
