:: Is Classic Arabic required to understand alQuraan? ::

Salaamun,
Is classic Arabic really needed to understand alQuraan?
That means every person on earth has to be an expert in order to be guided?
That means Allah made His deed so difficult for His creation?
Being an expert in foreign language is a very big task. What if anyone could not able to do so?Answer to the main question is NO.
As per 2185 ...
alQuraan is the guidance for mankind which includes every individual, be that a scientist, a student, a business man, a shopkeeper or a rickshaw puller. alQuraan is a guidance for all. How?
Every one has to learn Classical Arabic and be an Expert in it? Com'on!I will show the most easiest way to be guided with the permission of my Sustainer, Allah, inshaAllah.
We need 16. That's all we actually needed.
3101
...
...And whoever holds firmly to Allah has been GUIDED to .That is all we need to do. We need to hold Allah firmly for everything and we are guided. Because He is the One Who guides His creation. AlQuraan, alRasool, alNabi are just tools to guide us towards Allah. While they are guiding us, we are not yet guided. But once we realized what they are guiding us to and holds Allah tightly, then we are guided.
If you think without alQuraan/alKitaab we cannot be guided. Then please understand that even to get the true meanings of the aayaat mentioned in alQuraan/alKitaab, we need to turn towards Allah. And not towards any man made dictionaries. You can clearly see many contradictions in mad made books 482.
In such case Allah had to send a dictionary along with alQuraan to understand it's true meaning. But this is not the case, because Allah use those same aayaat to guide people on different levels. An aayat gives a meaning to a layman and the same aayat gives another meaning to a knowledgeable and again it gives another understanding to experts and so on. And they all are on the correct path if they are sincere and honest from their hearts. This is how Allah guides them.
So, there cannot be any dictionary or so called Arabic grammar needed to be guided. Otherwise Allah would have send down a perfect dictionary along with alQuraan, so that people can be guided to .

Is classical Arabic really needed to understand the Quran?
Has God made the Qur'an and the Qur'an alone his ONLY guidance to humanity?
Has God made it difficult to be guided? These are 3 different questions and you've lumped them together brother, as such your article is not logical. I would say re-write a new article (or write 3 different articles as they're all big topics on their own) to discuss whether proficiency in classical Arabic is required to undestand the Qur'an BUT you will need to define what 'understand' means, translations make it so that the message in the Qur'an is widely understandable but this may not be what you mean, but without clarification anyone reading your article would have to guess.
Think carefully about what you're going to title your article with, if it's the problem statement, make sure that statement is clear and then the next thing you should do is provide further clarification and establish your definitions in your introduction and then you can clearly approach this issue.

I expert knowledge of medicinefor each persona anecessity to have a opulation in good health and roperly taken care of.
No. Not every person has to beanexert in medicine. Nevertheless the more careful and health conscious a popultion is the most healthy it may become and the better will be able to handle and follow or understand or judge what the experts in medicine tell them.
That is just an example, because obivously Qur'an is about life and there is no such thing as expert in life. But in fact knowledge of Arabic and its possibilities is an asset that someone must have in order to share. However that is not the main thing. I have been witness and benefitted by understandings of the Qur'an by "nonmuslims" without knowledge of Arabic who were able toto knack a nut which arabic knowers and muslims did not even smell it. So, the Qur'anbeing abbout real lie, anybody with a knowledge of life will be able to have insights.
And the biggest "beware" and one of the great reasons for me or anybody else to want tohave as god a knowledge of Arabic as possible is in fact to not be misled by the interpretations of supposed experts in Arabic who in fact come upsometimes with absolute nonsense as purported Qur'an.
So yes, I would recommend to learn s much Arabic as possible and study carefully the Qur'an taking nothing for granted.
But on the other hand to not disdain people's wisdom. Indeed that wisdom is what the Qur'an mostly speaks to directly. So whoevver can do it and whoever cannot do not make a mountain of it, you can always get the help of other fellow qur'an lovers and benefit mutually.

Salaamun brother,
I agree with what you said. And as you said it can be divided into 3 different huge articles. So I thought of grouping it together.
I saw many people who believe that alQuraan is the ONLY source to reach to the path of Allah.
And many others believe that without learning Arabic or classical Arabic, we are not going to get any guidance from alQuraan.
Almost all are striving hard to understand what is the message of Allah in alQuraan. But from those people no one things beside this dead end approach. Our target is not to understand alQuraan, but our main target is to reach Allah. And alQuraan is not the only source to reach Allah. And His signs are not only in alQuraan
4153
We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness?
These signs which is in our surroundings and within ourselves are enough to guide us to Allah. This is what I was trying to say.
May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path pr

I can't say I've met anyone of this belief, are there any people here who think that? wow
Peace Osman,
I met many. Even they say if you don't understand Arabic you will be misguided by alQuraan.
And some of them are from free-minds who strongly believe that Arabic is required to get guidance from alQuraan.May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path pr

Obviously you have to learn the language the writing uses to be able to absorb the knowledge it conveys. The question is from who you learn it or if you learn it mainly on your own very independently.

Salaamun Amenuel and bkanwar2,
Thanks for your reply.
I would like to know how do you confirm your understanding of any aayat that you understands?
Allah didn't send any authentic dictionary which will help you reach the correct understanding.
In no way you can confirm that your understanding of any aayat is what meant by Allah.
This is why we see so many contradictions in understanding even a single aayat of alQuraan. This is why I understood that seeking guidance from Allah, alRahmaan who teaches alQuraan is the most authentic
way and a clear guidance. I also understood that we can take direct guidance from Allah and no book is actually needed at this point. Like, alKitaab was given to Musa but it was not guiding Musa but it was made a guidance for bani Israel .And I am thankful to my Rabb for guiding me on every step, alhamduliAllah hail

regardless of what language it is in believers will be guided to the right path and rejectors will not understand it like it says, however knowing the original language is a pleasure and a benefit.
Quran is 'preserved in the hearts of those who have knowledge'
you don't need any book of anything to be guided by our Lord but they are a guidance and a mercy for the believers. Its a great blessing to be able to have such revealed knowledge but it is not necessary to being a believer as such. However God tells us that none but the disbelievers will reject the revelations. God warns us if we are straying so we have no excuse to say we did not hear via his revelations.
however once again guidance is something in itself and belief which do not need to come from a book. God guides whoever He wills and leaves to stray whoever He wills. and He guides those who sincerely seek knowledge to Him as he says in the quran

One should at least read the Quran in his or her own language. Any question arising should be brought to table. I am these days coming across certain people who have said they are following God alone, but still go by some major misconceptions about Quran.
Couple of days ago, I had to debate someone who said that the Quran says one can be forced to accept Islam. brickwall
When I gave them 1829 they started ignoring me -\

You are saying exactly what is said in 172.
In short, it is the matter of levels. As per the above aayat if someone is on the level of Musa then he needs no book for guidance but Allah will guide him directly. And if someone is at the level of bani israel, they need the book for guidance. This is because they find difficulty in accepting any guidance from Allah until they see it's prove or written somewhere.
This is how I understand.

Peace Timotheus, all,

Good point. If someone doesn't know Classical Arabic, then I think that he/she can still go get an accurate understanding the Quran. Becuause as far as I know, language is not a barrier when it comes to understanding the Quran. That being said, I think a knowledge of Quranic arabic can be benefit in regards to understanding the Quran.
The Quran suggests that there are three criterias for understanding it
- Purity.
- Knowledge.
- Belief in the hereafter.
Quran 5679 None can grasp it except those pure.
Quran 37 He is the One who sent down to you the Book, from which there are lawgiving revelations; they are the essence of the Book; and others which are of a similitude. As for those who have a disease in their hearts, they will follow that which is of a similitude, seeking to confuse, and seeking to derive an interpretation. But none know its interpretation except God, and those who are well founded in knowledge; they say "We believe in it, all is from our Lord." And none will remember except those who possess intelligence.
Quran 2943 Such are the examples We cite for the people, but none reason except the knowledgeable.
Quran 1745-46 And when you read the Qur'an, We place between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter an invisible barrier. And we place shields over their hearts, that they should not understand it, and a deafness in their ears. And if you mention your Lord in the Qur'an alone, they run away turning their backs in aversion.
Quran is 'preserved in the hearts of those who have knowledge'
Are you referring to verse 4153?
you don't need any book of anything to be guided by our Lord but they are a guidance and a mercy for the believers. Its a great blessing to be able to have such revealed knowledge but it is not necessary to being a believer as such. However God tells us that none but the disbelievers will reject the revelations. God warns us if we are straying so we have no excuse to say we did not hear via his revelations.
I think you are right when you sat that we don't need a book of anything to be guided y our Lord. That being said, I think that a sacred/divine book is a supplement (gives us an advantage) in our journey. Perhaps a divine/sacred book (e.g. the Quran) can accelerate the process of our guidance.
By the way, in verse 544, the Quran states that there was guidance in the Torah. Thus, it's obvious/clear that a divine/sacred book contains guidance.
Quran 544 Verily, it is We who bestowed from on high the Torah, wherein there was guidance and light. On `its strength did the prophets, who had surrendered themselves unto God, deliver judgment unto those who followed the Jewish faith;58 and so did the men of God and the rabbis, inasmuch as some of God's writ had been entrusted to their care;59 and they bore witness to its truth. Therefore, hold not men in awe, but stand in awe of Me; and do not barter away My messages for a trifling gain60 for they who do not judge in accordance with what God has bestowed from on high are, indeed, deniers of the truth!
however once again guidance is something in itself and belief which do not need to come from a book. God guides whoever He wills and leaves to stray whoever He wills. and He guides those who sincerely seek knowledge to Him as he says in the quran
I agree.
By the way, you wrote a good post.
Much respect,

mmKhanI am not sure about this question and it is importaint. Sincerity and honesty is hard to check and also we have to understand the definition of honesty. Many people think that they are honest and sincere but are not ready to challenge any belief they hold. I'm not sure if this feature is relevant in the honesty trait but how would you know if you are honest and sincere? If we have veils over our eyes and ears how would we know it? We wouldn't and we would think we are sincere (to me this is the scariest part) as many mainstream muslims do and go about in their lives without questioninig anything.
Also I would like to think that if people are truly sincere and knowledgable they would come to a similar conclusions regarding the Quran (even if one is a layman). "Experts" are too schooled and we have thier contradictory translations already (so expert should shun his knowledge and start over I guess if he's sincere).
I also think we should ask for Allahs help but I come to think He is working trough people too. Sometimes you will bump into different people that may not have anything to do with Quran but they will say/do something that will be a piece of the puzzle for you.Peace.

To understand Quran, one need to understand what Quranic word Allah means. It has completely opposite meanings to what religion Islam promotes and is based upon. Please go through following first.

You are right in the statement that Allah means something else than what the religion Islam promotes, but what you propagate is not correct either. Good observation nevertheless. You have to study this further.
First of all, elah and allah are both formed from the root Alif-Lam-(Lam) which is also used for the commonly used AL prefix. On both elah and allah, the suffix heh is used.
As a rule of thumb, does very rarely form part of a root. For you to reflect, I can say that the word Allah when saying "their Allah" is not as grammar rules would make it but you say which ought to make the critically thinking individual into contemplation. This makes it easy to conclude that the (heh) of the allah word is the third person singular pronoun. That is just one in a series of hints that the traditional understanding of allah is not correct.
But people always argue against me despite this strong argument and say my reasoning is weak. I do not understand that. Please allow me to shake my head.

Actually, for me, you are both making things far too difficult. The word "Allah" does not need studying or someone to know grammar or...
It is so simple The word " Allah" just means "GOD".
Now ,you can both shake your heads, then move on to the rest of Qoran ,especially the "deeds".
Happy works to both of you.

Peace. No it is not that simple, but I suppose you have not delved into academic studies of the word but rather follow what others have said in the past and present. The word does not mean god just as does not mean God. Rabb is the word for God in Arabic.
is just a standard grammatical word in Arabic constructed from the AL article and Heh (third person singular).
However, I suppose you did not even read my argument that disqualifies allah as a word. I said, to repeat it for the 289592859254th time, Allahhem would be spelled if it was meant that the heh was to be part of the word, but you seem to reject all logic when it comes to religion. It is a linguistic statement and surely you see the grammar is either wrong or Allah is not a word with its . Please use your logic before arguing against this and have a worthy counterargument to why this is so.
And you cannot claim that the Arabic grammar does remove the in a formula like this but there are other words which are spelled with double in a row when it says Hem (theirs) about a word. You have that argument against you.

It is not a big issue. We all know from inside how honest or dishonest and sincere we are.
If we are sincere and honest we will be guided by Allah to the correct path soon as it has happened to Ibrahim 776. Calling star, moon and sun my Rabb is surely not correct. But because he was honest and sincere he was not punished but guided to the correct path.
