I'm still trying to figure out what Jinn are. Spirits, 'foreigners', aliens, etc, etc. It will need much pondering. For me anyway. )

        Salaam,

It is simply an exemplar, that we must excercise the control of the emotions/jinn and use them for our benefit, thus controlled/useful jinn = malaika.

          Salaams all,
came across this ayat tells us about the physical nature of men and jins ,what does Nabi think.

          7179
Many are the Jinns and men we have made for Hell They have hearts wherewith they understand not, eyes wherewith they see not, and ears wherewith they hear not. They are like cattle,- nay more misguided for they are heedless (of warning).

          Salaams.

              Salaams,
don't live in a world of magic and wichcraft.

              006.128
YUSUFALI One day will He gather them all together, (and say) "O ye assembly of Jinns! Much (toll) did ye take of men." Their friends amongst men will say "Our Lord! we made profit from each other but (alas!) we reached our term - which thou didst appoint for us." He will say "The Fire be your dwelling-place you will dwell therein for ever, except as Allah willeth." for thy Lord is full of wisdom and knowledge.

              006.130
YUSUFALI "O ye assembly of Jinns and men! came there not unto you messengers from amongst you, setting forth unto you My signs, and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say "We bear witness against ourselves." It was the life of this world that deceived them. So against themselves will they bear witness that they rejected Faith.

              007.179
YUSUFALI Many are the Jinns and men we have made for Hell They have hearts wherewith they understand not, eyes wherewith they see not, and ears wherewith they hear not. They are like cattle,- nay more misguided for they are heedless (of warning).

People who lived in prehistoric times ;People of different far flung countries living detatched from other civilised peoples subjected to no laws or rules of conduct .

The primary meaning of the word Ma?shar in the verses 6128,130;5533. also reinforces this interpretation .Ash?arahu? means he lived in close communion with him and was on intimate terms. Thus by calling Jinn and Nas (human beings) as a single community clears that here Jinn and Human beings are not two different kinds of beings.

              According to The quranic Dictionery

Jews of NasibinStalearts whom Solomon had taken into custody and having subjected them and made them work as cunstructors of huge buildings and who were experts divers .
People who are peerless , having no match or equal.

              Salaams all.

Agreed. Very simple. I am sure those who are just getting around to studying this will arrive at the same logical conclusion.

                Mz357,

(7179) And We had created to Hell many from the hidden ones (jinns), and the humans, for them (are) hearts they do not understand/learn with it, and for them (are) eyes they do not see with it, and for them (are) ears they do not hear with it, those are as the camels/livestock, but they are more misguided, those are the ignoring/neglecting

Looking at it from one verse only can sometimes give you the wrong understanding. For example, if you just look at a cerse that says "Obey the God and His messenger", you might draw the conclusion that there are two different messages to be followed. You might think that you are to follow the God, then you must seperately follow the messenger, not realizing that in terms of the message, it is the very same instruction. The God only seperates the PARTS FROM THE WHOLE(dismember) so we can learn each part, then we are to put the parts back together again (RE-MEMBER). "Jinn" normally comes before "Mankind" in this reading to illustrate the process of thought then action, from the inner to outer, unseen to seen.

Jinn are like seeds and mankind is the soil, what plants will you grow?

Ok, if Jinns are not the traditional beings that sunnis et al say exist, then, are there other beings that are apart from the five kingdoms of living things?

My wife does not believe in traditional Islam. However, so is someimes able to see beings that are like the classical version of ghosts and spirits. Human-like, tiny, numan sized or quite big. They are not limited by things like our construction, like walls etc. They do not appear solid.

It is easy for most people to dismiss this as superstition or whatever... but seeing is seeing.

I guess God never gave us a list of what is part of the unseen, and what is not part of the unseen. I think that the greatest part of reality is hidden... and we human beings are very very limited inour perceptions.

                  Any thoughts on this??

I have no knowledge of this, so I can't speak on it. Can you elaborate on these beings? Is there conversation envolved? When does she see them? What does she believe thier purpose is.

What about the 'nations' of jinn? The jinn talking amongst themselves? There are many cases where they are seemingly protrayed as people, they have free will, I'm of the opinion Iblis was a jinn too. I'm finding it hard to see it from your point of view idolfree...although it is a nice way of thinking, but there are times when I just cant see it from reading various verses.

                        Peace be upon you Beatnik,

What about the 'nations' of jinn?

That would be the nation INSIDE of you. Sometimes when you catch someone in TRANCE, and you ask themn a question, they have to shak ethier heads and say "Sorry, I didn't heard you, I was in my OWN LITTLE WORLD!"

                        The jinn talking amongst themselves?

                        Your inner conversations, non verbal.

There are many cases where they are seemingly protrayed as people, they have free will, I'm of the opinion Iblis was a jinn too

Iblis is indeed a jinn. Jinn only means hidden. There are good jinn(malaika) and bad jinn(shayteen). No one on this forum disagrees that Iblis is a jinn. What some disagree to is that Iblis WAS a malaika.

I'm finding it hard to see it from your point of view idolfree...

I can respect that answer, it takes time and serious study and reflection. One must seek ALL knowledge. The study of ALL "religions" helpd shed light on these subjects. We don't have something EXCLUSIVE, these teachings are all saying the same basic thing.

although it is a nice way of thinking, but there are times when I just cant see it from reading various verses.

The Gdo will help you if you are patient and maintain the process of learning.

With all due respect, I see nothing valid in the above discussion.

If you did not see it it is HEARSAY, just like hadith of buckari.

Jinn means "hidden", thats all. Why are you trying to make it into some monster? Why is there a need to beleive in demons?

The faculties within you that govern your life are HIDDEN(jinn) , thats all. Very simple.

You say that Jinn means hidden and your addition of the word "thats all" signifies this as a definite definition. You also say that these Hidden faculties govern our lives. The Qur'an says very little about Jinn and I have never read anything to make me believe that Jinn are exclusively responsible for governing our lives. Is there a particular ayat you can reference that aided you in your definite and "very simple" conclusion? I say this because, based on all the verses I have come across, the entire concept of Jinn seems complicated...largely because of the vagueness of their description.

                            Peace be upon you Saladin,

                              Jinn means "hidden", thats all.

If it means 'hidden', could they also be hidden in OUR bodies? Since our mind/head is our innerworld, could it also mean that it's THEIR world?

The reason why I'm asking those questions is because I had some conversations with a djinn named Robert. He told me that djinns live in our bodies and that they 'lead' us. There are good and bad djinns, the good ones lead us on the right path and the bad ones (he told me they're called satans) lead us on the 'evil' path.

What do you guys think? Could the djinn be telling the truth?

The first time 'Robert' came to me, he told me he was sent from God. He told me he was a good spirit, leading me on the right path. He even told me what I did wrong and what I had to change about myself (bad habits etc.). He even let me look into my subconsciousness. Teached me how to control my anger, have patience, talk polite and show respect/love. He was the djinn who was leading me to the right path and that's how I became interested in the Quran. And that's how I searched the internet looking for answers about Islam, because I was questioning a lot of stuff and actually didn't want to get involved with islam (I was to negative about islam).

He said it's your own spirit and the djinns in you who lead you to act right or behave bad. In the end it's your choice.

                              Your opinion please?

                                      Hello kyle,

following zulf post and your question

i saw some inexplainable light a short while ago on my terrasse - it pushed open my bay window and just vanished inside my appartment. I was absolutely petrified (even though there was nothing evil about it) but an african friend sitting next to me just said hello to it... he had seen it too and it didn't bother him - he's kind of used to it. Two days later my son of 8 also saw something... It has vanished since, alhamdullelah.

No discussion involved in this case, but another friend of mine sometimes has visitors she discusses with. She's a medium since she was a small girl.

There are things one cannot just explain logically even though a lot is BS is going on around such stories as well for sure!

                                      Peace, elke

There are things one cannot just explain logically even though a lot is BS is going on around such stories as well for sure!

                                        Peace, elke

Khi- Salam. I wldnt say "which one cannot explain logically" but rather "which one cannot explain by normal natural laws or conditions which we are used to regularly" because everything can be explained logically, yes even ghosts. We can say tht it's an energy acting froma parallel universe for example. What we cannot do is explain it naturally for under "normal" situations we wouldnt expect such to occur though that doesnt mean it's impossible. Illgical would be is eg a tall short man appear infront of you because something/one ccannoit be tall and short the same time. GOD Bless!
