I find it is a bit counterproductive to eat "a lot" after finishing the fast, kind of missing the purpose with it.

It is not possible to eat a lot, that is why Muslims mostly begin with some dates and water. Maybe a few hours later they can eat more, but in the beginning it is not possible to eat much.

I agree. I'm trying to have moderation at night without overindulging myself, as I have sadly been doing the last few weeks. /

I read your post and it said when breaking your fast, so if you mean overall than write overall. Also it is not possible to eat a lot even overall. You get satisfied with less food than normal- Did you ever fast?

Do you have a silent fast now or no fast at all?

I have tried skipping breakfast and it has been difficult, I feel more lethargic, lightheaded and weak...
It was a suggestion by MOF something about self-control...blah blah
Allah has shown me that MOF's idea is dumb and compromising. I had to leave work early today...
There is a reason why Allah says to eat to your satisfaction, we have work and occupation prolonged throughout the day and facing it on an empty stomach is dangerous...

Don't listen to MOF eat as much as you hunger for folks until the thread white becomes clear from the thread black of dawn.
You are fasting essentially for 18-20 hours that is plenty of self-control!!

By the way, how long before sunrise does everyone get up to eat breakfast?

I do not sleep at night and i eat whole night and i try to sleep as long possible when it is daytime, but tomorrow i have work to do and in the morning i have business to do, so i will not sleep at night and do my business and when i come back i will go and sleep some hours. If you do not work, than best is to stay awake and eat and read Quran.

I had rosetta today. Menu varies, but I have been feeling guilty about fasting. Something has been telling me on and on that this is not what Allah told us to do.

Selam sister, Allah tells us to fast, no eating and drinking and no sex ( from first light that we see before sunrise till darkness of the night, after sunset when the darkness comes ). I think that fasting should be taken serious and this is from Quran, you should not feel guilty about this Peace

Do you even realize how disrespectful the second clause is? smh

Just like Hp Tech this is disrespectful, i think you should keep your comments to yourself, what are you saying that we the ones who do fast have no sense? We only follow what Allahs commandments. Do you want that we abandon fasting like you Christians? Also why are you writing on this thread, it is about what you eat when you fast? Not if you fast or not. I asked you already ones do you fast and you did not answer, so now you did with this post.

                                        Peace brother,

I see. Care to elaborate a bit?

                                        Peace brother,

I always try to follow what Allah has guided me to inshaAllah.
And that is purely for myself.

As I said earlier in other threads that if Allah wants something to be fixed, He would have said it clearly. But that is not the case in alQuraan in many matters, like Salaat, Saum, etc..

If you see whom to marry and whom to not, you will get very clear instructions. And if you want to look up for haraam things to eat, it is very clearly mentioned in alQuraan unline Salaat and Saum.

                                        Why?

It depends upon our levels. Level in the sense how much you are close to Allah. He take out burdens from you, make things easy for you if you get closer and closer to Him. I was facing difficulty in following so called Saum. Then I seek His help and He guided me, alhamduliAllah. I down from 30 to 3-5 Sawms only. Then again upgraded to non-speaking saum but eating and drinking was continued. I felt difficult again with non-speaking saum and seek Allah's help. And He guided again. Now no sawm for me, alhamduliAllah.

Please note that in all these procedures, I always try to keep myself sincere and honest to myself with the help of Allah. No cheating included.

Not only me, some of my friends here also has no fasting now, and not because of me, they seek Allah's help and He guided them all in different ways, mashaAllah hail

The way He shown me may not work for you or others bro, you may need to seek His help to guide you on this matter. Again depending on your level He will guide you. If He wants you to do saum for 10 days, or 5 days or 3 days, whatever, you must have to follow it. InshaAllah, He will guide you more and more and make things easy only if He wills.

May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path pr

                                          like you Christians?

Who is a Christian? Not me.

To occasionally fast may be beneficial, but over an extensive period I would not give it any merit. And to overall fast from the world at all times is a stronger decision.

Do you even realize how disrespectful the second clause is?

Should I remain quiet just because you are offended when I express a logical and true statement that was intended to be an encouragement. I had no intention of aiming any disrespect to you or anyone else feeling hit but it was entirely about approval.

I do like to give approval when people display wisdom. If you do I would too, it is not that I have favored individuals.

                                          Be well
