Falyasumhu does not contain a preposition to indicate "in" anything.
Whatever one takes "shahr ramadan" to be it would seem that it is a negative thing which needs to be stopped.

Peace The Guided One.
After many years of looking at many opinions and explanations of Ramadan and fasting, I have settled so far with this view
Fasting has many special benefits. Among these, the most important is that it is a means of learning self-control. Due to the lack of preoccupation with the satisfaction of bodily appetites during the daylight hours of fasting, a measure of ascendancy is given to one's spiritual nature, which becomes a means of coming closer to God. Ramadan is also a time of intensive devotion/worship, reading of the Qoran, giving charity, purifying one's behavior, and doing good deeds.
For Believers, Ramadan is an opportunity to gain by giving up, to prosper by going without and to grow stronger by enduring weakness. As a secondary goal, fasting is a way of experiencing hunger and developing sympathy for the less fortunate, and learning to thankfulness and appreciation for all of God's bounties. Fasting is also beneficial to the health and provides a break in the cycle of rigid habits or overindulgence.
Who Fasts in Ramadan?
Fasting in Ramadan is obligatory on those who can do it. . Sick people , some travelers in certain conditions and those who are not able to due to the length of daytime are exempted from the fast but must make it up as and when they are able.
From Dawn to Sunset
The daily period of fasting starts at the breaking of dawn and ends at the setting of the sun. In between -- that is, during the dawn and daylight hours -- Believers totally abstain from food, drink, smoking, and sex. .
The Islamic lunar calendar, being 11 to 12 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar, migrates throughout the seasons. Thus, if Ramadan begins on January 20 one year, next year it will begin on January 9. In this way, the length of the day, and thus the fasting period, varies in length from place to place over the years.
Every believer, no matter where he or she lives, will see an average Ramadan day of approximately 13.5 hours.Expressing our appreciation
The last ten days of Ramadan are believed to be a time of special spiritual power as everyone tries to come closer to God through devotions and good deeds. Some spend the last ten days of Ramadan in a mosque( GOD Alone mosque if there is one) devoting the whole ten days for service/ worshipping God
By the dawn.
And the ten nights.*
( The last ten nights of Ramadan. (2187).)...You may eat and drink until the white thread of light becomes distinguishable from the dark thread of night at dawn. Then, you shall fast until sunset. Sexual intercourse is prohibited if you decide to retreat to the masjid (during the last ten days of Ramadan). These are God's laws; you shall not transgress them. God thus clarifies His revelations for the people, that they may attain salvation.
God has decreed for us fasting during the blessed month of Ramadan when Quran was revealed. This is the rite decreed by God in Quran to purify our souls and express our appreciation for the light He had sent down to us
GOD will not leave the believer in the dark, GOD sends messengers , I have not been convinced otherwise yet. I will accept Qoran based arguments, especially when the messenger brings a Bayyinah from the Lord.
GOD bless you.

Peace The Guided One, my question is why not fast from sunrise to sunset?.
Are you afraid? Is it too difficult for you? Are you confused? What's wrong with fasting?
Is it too long? I think the instructions are quite simple. But the reasons are personal. My advice is
Experience the fast and go from there!

Selam brother, do you have some research about fasting from sunrise to sunset? I think it is to night, when it is dark. The questions you have asked me i do not understand why you ask such questions. Peace

Selam good logic, God bless you and thanks for sharing your view, peace

Selam brother, do you have some research about fasting from sunrise to sunset?
Yes as a matter of fact I do Quran Kareem
This link is from brother Wakas http//www.studyquran.co.uk/PRLonline.htm
Kaf-Waw-Ra (Kaf-Alif-Ra) = To wind, twist/fold/wrap, he wound round a turban,
divested of light, blinded, shall pass away and come to naught. The day and night blend or merge at sunset and sunrise.
39/5 He created the heavens and earth in truth. He wraps the night over the day and
wraps the day over the night and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running
for a specified term. Unquestionably, He is the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver. The questions you have asked me i do not understand why you ask such questions.
I ask such questions because Islam is easy and many times personal reasons
are used to obscure the directives of Allah therefore some introspection may be a way
to come to an understanding.Have a blessed Ramadan

there is something wrong with timing as well,, logically gettting urslef hungry for 21 hours is not what reason suggest us to do,
here the fast start at almost half 2 and carry on untill 10 o clock sometimes. in scandavian its almost 22 hours. either fast is something else or fasting period is during december.
Well, I'm not pondering much on the hunger game, but rather only the traditional timings. Whether or not fasting is ok for 21 hours, I guess it could be different from case to case. I have experienced some benefits with fasting, e.g. increased energy and clear-headedness. However, I didn't feel so much sympathy for hungry or starving people. To do that there is really no need to fast for one month while being able to eat in the night... in my opinion at least. Or maybe something is wrong with me...
Fasting in December is as bad as in June, because when it is midsummer in one hemisphere, it is midwinter in the other... but Ramadhan is at the same time all over the world.
So, if at all, fasting is to be done the traditional way, the timings should be such that the amount of hours are the same all over the planet, and there is a dark part of the night available. I guess autumn equinox could be such an occasion.

do not listen to those Satans who want to lead you astray from obedience. Fasting is highly recommended, and you will learn a lot, God willing, if you meditate about the many different things that come to your mind, and the warnings in Quran while fasting. Fasting begins when sighting the first moon of the month of ramadan, and last the whole month, and you can eat and drink while it is dark. If you think that it is to much for you, do not do what the satans are doing by changing it to winter, but do what God says and feed a hungry-one for each day you cannot fast. However, do not listen to me, but search the verses in quran about fasting, they are not that many. right now it is the fifth day of ramadan where I live, and it is dark from 915 pm to 545 am.
May God increse our knowledge and give us wisdom.

i consider it different,, usually people calculate seasons by temperature which is not correct .. its about the the rotation of earth around the sun in one year,, and when earth is rotting its rotating with its full continents lolxx..
ok see like this,,
winter in pakistan in dec, winter in uk dec, winter in saudia dec, winter in antartica dec.
but temperatures are different let say pak 12 c uk -12 c, saudia 13 F , antartic -30 c
again in summer pakistan, uk saudia antartica.
temp are pak 30 f, uk 12 f, saudia 45 f, antartica -10 c..
i think thats who seasons work,, as far my little understanding when earth is rotating around sun the nearest distance in rotatin cause summer and fartherest is the cause of winter.. God knows best..
So, if at all, fasting is to be done the traditional way, the timings should be such that the amount of hours are the same all over the planet, and there is a dark part of the night available. I guess autumn equinox could be such an occasion.
oh yeh thats the best answer through traditionl way... but when i see the records of events of traditional muslims every ramzan is on the period of early january or late december,, like conquer of makka ,, assasination of ali ,, and so on,, just five six days different from the winter solictre.
so its better to keep the ramadhan on the dates in which prophet did and it was definately in december,, due to the dates ,,
its a diferent thing if we beleive on these news or not,, but again if we dig the history of christanity jesus get birth on 25 december which was also a special night ,, may be five six day up and down but its also close to the history of traditional muslims,, and reaosning of long night which is also in december...
all these things are pointing enough hints to make fasts on december,,
rest of the things God knows best..

Selam wrkmmn,
at this point i think that you are right, i have done some research and there must be a clear view for once and for all times. We should have a clear answer for this issue from the Quran. People twist words and make the religion of Islam difficult and we now have this new digital era, we should simply find all answers.
I know in many traditions, just like in my country many say this month we do not drink alcohol it is ramadan, but we should not drink at all. The companion of a liar is satan. The most people i know are muslims who keep tradition and do not drink when it is ramadan, but do lie and a lot. I see many wrong things in our religion and Allah says i keep your people alive as long as there are among you some who still believe in Allah and do as they should according Quran. I do not see Allah saying i should not smoke when fasting, what do you think? Tradition says that we do not smoke when fasting or is it also from Quran?
Very important in understanding the beginning of the ramadan is when Allah says do not enter your houses from behind, but enter them from the front. Clearly this tells us the beginning of ramadan is crescent moon and not full moon. That is what i understand from this ayet. Ramadan month is the hot month of the year. So it can not be in December. It is not possible to call the month ramadan Hot and that this month would be December.
Still i want to see some research that has some strong arguments and so far i did not read many.
May Allah bless us and increase our knowledge, Peace

So it can not be in December. It is not possible to call the month ramadan Hot and that this month would be December.
saudia is always hot ,, even in winter the day in desert is more hotter than the summer day in uk..
you guys make me laugh that what all you research and come into a conclusion. i was telling you the date of conquring of makka it was a veryyyyyyyyyyyyyy big event for muslims and for prophet , it was on ramadhan and it was in december..
The conquest of Mecca (Arabic fat makkah) is the historical event when Mecca was capitulated for and conquered by Muslims on 11 December 629 CE (Julian), 18 Ramadan, 8 AH in the ancient (intercalated) Arabic calendar. Muhammad started the journey on 6 Ramadan and entered Mecca on 18 Ramadan.
peace... either u have to choose ramadhan as a hot month or either u have to choose decemeber is also a hot month,,, then u can fit ur theory inside it,,, otherwise it contradict..
peace and take more time,, i m also researching it from last five years still unable to come on final exact decison,, all are hints and closing understanding ,,

w salam,
obviously you can read it in early history, where else, becoz question was how to follow a traditional way of fasting, so i represent the example of traditionl history what all traditional muslims beleive, and according to that it was on december.i dnt feel any need to write an essay on it, when somebody really want to to know truth its Allah who is best guider and best writer , the book of essay in the shape of quran is already in hand,, read it and research it and then for details of dates and events its come to history department ,the essay of qurn is teach you religious things, but if you want details you can use science, archealogy, history, math, any tool that can help it , from different sources, you may get results. inshallah.
like the event of joseph , when Allah told us it was the reason to told us see its truth of joseph what he suffered how he control his powers(inner weakness) due to the obedience of God. purpose was to tell you about religious essay,of guarding private parts. yeh but if anybody need to find the dates , god did not mention it , not even the date of any event , now there other sources come but its your choice if you think this tool works well then beleive it,, for example tecnology is telling us about civilisation that are 5000 to 20000 years old, how they know it, there is a platform behind it, we need to understand their strategy of getting results. history science anything is not a subject of quran, go through all quran you will find instructions and religious order. and then sometimes we encounter things regarding science, history prophecies , and as we know its from God and it cant be false so when somebody verify these things under their trusted tools we find it accurate or compatible with quran.
what i told you it is pretty normal . i always try to talk in easy language .
and i m not laughing on ur results my brother, i was laughing how come you come to conclusion very quickly , some things are difficult to find out, like every question of math is not same some are difficult some are easy, the difficult one we usually take help from guides, frds, students, books to understand. apply same science on this issue as we know the beauty of quran is , it never talk with exact dates regarding anything,, i dnt remember when quran describe anything God mention any calenderical dates,, and thats what make it more perfect for universal scripture,,

ramadan means hot or burn, so it must be the hot month, the hottest month of the year and as i explained in previous posts, Allah mention that we should enter our houses from the front and from the rear, why would Allah mention something like this. This verse i am writing about is about fasting and it only can mean to begin the fast the month of ramadan with the crescent moon. Or do you have an other explanation for this verse and what it should mean' enter your houses from the front and not from behind'

this is not what i ask
you ask me about the verse, it is in Quran read it, and you know where to find it, do not say you dont know. If you really do not know than you should read more Quran. It is in surah 2189.
They ask thee concerning the new moons. Say they are but signs to mark fixed periods of time in (the affairs of) men and for pilgrimage. It is no virtue if ye enter your houses from the back; it is virtue if ye fear Allah. Enter houses through the proper doors and fear Allah that ye may prosper.
