peace Kanada,
You are in the best position to determine what kind of mindset your husband has, e.g. open-minded, inquisitive, logical etc.
If he exhibits the above traits then simply discuss Quran/Islam with him sometimes, ask open questions, make him think, then over time work your way up to telling him that you do not regard covering the head as compulsory.
You can use this site for some ideas of topics to discuss, or simply study Quran together

So what do you suggest? Burkas for males and females because some can not control their selves?
It is more than simply retain control. The choice of clothing is up to people, but it might be respectful to heavy abstainers to wear something modest. The more you abstain the more sensitive you might become, but also the sensitivity can be improved through practice. But on the other hand, why do you want to reveal yourself in the first place?
Where I live it's rude if you do not to look the other in the eyes when they talk to you.
Then it is fine if you have a decent level of control. But sinking one's gaze deep into the eyes of a person enough to reflect upon the looks of their eyes will probably not happen through a standard conversation. And you probably would not be required to sustain eye contact at every second, would you?
Be well

- Man of Faith. Post Game of Thrones, nothing is stimulating unless I want to entertain those kinds of thoughts. Complete control. yes
Excellent.
But I do hope people understand why some people would prefer a strictly unrevealing dress.

We can speculate all we want, but in the end there are only the rules one can clearly gather from scripture. Logic is moot, for it depends on capacities that can never supersede the mercifully given messages from God.
So what does scripture have to say, what is actually written on the matter; especially keeping in mind that it is typical of Mushrik to infer or add though, if no divine instructions have been given, it just means it doesn't matter.
I would like to add if one has a problem seeing the human form, there's nothing stopping you from putting blinders on so you don't have to lay responsibility with the rest of mankind instead of with yourself.

My experience and what I can vouch for is that males can be compleely unimpressed and normal when viewing women normally dressed and wih normal behaivour, hat is, women who about their normal business jus like ay person male or female, and that those who get "impressed" it is out of their own search for bein impressed. And even that if some woman dressed or undressed bechaves so as to call attention to herself as a female animal, only those males looking for such impressions are indeed impressed.
here is nothing unvoluntary in males being impressed by any femaly, either normally behaved or behaving enticely. Which is why he whole fade about he hijab is completely senseless if it is for the reason tthey give. Hijabi menn wan o hijab the women they hink igh belong to hem but lust like pigs after any non hijabe woman, save or he sincerely religious but misguided.
Clohes cannnot be a sentence for anybody, and for women very commonly either in order tha they are attractive in the way hey ar ecouraged to, or in order that hey are nnot atrractive, clohes and aparell seem to be a sentence. Bu wome are ot guilty of anyhing o be sentenced to anyhing. And cerainly men are not judges of women neither other women re judges of women.
For wome ust as for men, clohes are there o give comfort and the best presence. Not complicated at all alhough it gets close to be turned into a science.

Man of Faith, I completely understand why someone would choose modest clothing, even to that extent. I chose it. I'm living it. It's different than how I grew up, it's a learning experience, and I need a compromise.
Still haven't brought it up with him... I'm sure y'all know how real life is.
Anyway, I found this YouTube talk from author/historian Tom Holland where he brainstorms some hypothetical strategies for the Muslim population to better incorporate Islam into Western society, I guess you could say. It's called "De-radicalizing Muhammad". Just wanted to share with SOMEONE as I don't think anyone in my immediate community could reject Hadith without being called a nonbeliever. -\

I think it's important as Islam is not going away. It's here to stay. It's going to be a part of my country, my culture, and my family.
Thanks for reading. peace

Sometimes it's hot outside, very hot.

AmenuelIt was just an example.
It is our duty to control ourselves no matter what the other party does even if they go naked.

Salam and welcome to the forum )
You mentioned earlier that you did turban hiijab style, did he say anything to that?
why not loosen some hairs and have a fringe showing or something? and wear 3/4 sleeves ?
He might not feel too bad because you're not Arab or born muslim. Though I understand you're in a small muslim community. he wants to make his family proud.. people will frown/talk but they'll get over it. people who know you will know you're a good person regardless of what is worn.
You could always tell him you don't feel comfortable wearing it anymore, you feel it restricts you, need to supplement more with vitD bla bla all the arguments against it you have
of course we all wish that our spouses would be in the same line of thought/belief/perception in certain things but it isn't always the case. Our beliefs are our decisions and are personal between us and God.
Just talk to him, you don't need to go into hadith halal/haram details. We all have faults and we don't do everything 100% but we can try to do good. Sometimes some things can cause misery and make life difficult and can deter us from doing other (good) things.
It might be easier to talk about it now than latergood luck!
