Possible meaning of ZAID in 33:37
-
Strange the verb used in aya 33.37 to say marry. Systematically in Qur'an, to speak of marrying, the verb used is nakaha. For earthly marrying that is the verb used, nakaha, never zawwaja.
I doubt very much that those "marriages" of the prophet were the "usual" marriages.
As to the translation that goes
"... So when Zayd had no longer any need for her, We married her to you
in order that there not be upon the believers any discomfort concerning
the wives of their adopted sons when they no longer have need of them. "I find it shocking. What is the lady? some object of those we have no more use for and make a garage sale to get rid of them and the Porphet in this case can have what he wants at some advantageous price?
Very, very, very shocking. If not any other in the Qur'an just this translation would be enough to put off normal people.
And of course, nothing such as divorcing because there is no more understanding between the spouses, just they do not need them any more, get rid of them.
Obviously that cannot be right. Not put that way. And if the word Zayd has some meaning, which if it is in Qur'an it should have, it is not the lady the unneeded, but Zayd. Or is to offensive to say that of male?

Ayah 3336-39 is one Frame. You can relate it to what is meant by paragraph in English grammar. The topic sentence is about how the believing man and believing woman is expected to behave and conduct regards any affair that stands decided and concluded by Allah the Exalted and His Messenger.
There is no denying that Qur?n is also the best biography of its Publisher, the elevated Messenger and Spokesperson of Allah the Exalted, Muhammad Sal'lallaa'hoalaih'wa'salam. He is assigned the responsibility of the Leader of Mankind. A leader is public figure. While Qur?n emphatically enjoins protecting the right of privacy of individuals, it even portrays the most private affairs of the life of the leader of humanity as if the Leader has no right of privacy. Perhaps rightly so since he is role model and guide for the peoples in every aspect of their lives including their privacies.
Not only that his delicate privacies of bed room are mentioned, even thoughts coming to his mind and private conversations are made public. One such mention is about an event of the life of our Leader in Ayah 3336-39.
You study it yourself. I give you just few cues and key word to understand its relevance for the humanity.
Key word is http//haqeeqat.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Tabweeb%20Part%202/103.%20Wadoo%20call%20Daal%20%20Ain%20Waw/62.gif
Read about it and then recall the episode of the wife of a minister in Egypt who unsuccessfully tried to seduce Yusuf alahissalam whom they were wishing to adopt as son in his childhood.
Thanks brother mazhar for sharing such a nice information.

One such mention is about an event of the life of our Leader in Ayah 3336-39.
But one question do you think that the 3337 event and Zayd himself are among the most important for the history of mankind? So important that God had to perpetuate the name of this man in the Quran? Only one name from the era of the Prophet..
-
The whole import of this is that regarding flesh relationships, the Qur'an deals with flesh. It is flesh tabu what matters in reproduction not the affective aspects.
Given that, I think that the questions raised by the plural "marriages" of the Prophet and in particular by this passage with "Zayd" are justified. The usual vision does feel limp. I think it was Noon who spoke of his daughters, who, on the one hand can be flesh daughters or not, just like the daughters of Lut, could be flesh daughters or not. From the spiritual point of view, it is sufficient and no need to look for more detail. But, on the other hand, outside the Qur'an we have got far too many "flesh" pointers
to the intimte or not so intimate life of the prophets and our whole vision of the Qur'an is shaped by those external pointers. It seems, the Qur'an does not say, that Muhammad had daughters from his first wife. Thsoe could be it, the daughters or spiritual daughters, like those of Lut.But the question is that for those who reject the oversexed image of the Prophet, the Qur'an is compromised by an oversexed vision.
The feeling, when one reads the Qur'an, for the Prophet is of most delicate and careful person no to hurt anybody, less still humilate anybody, let alone any woman. Like all the prophets in the Qur'an, a most endearing person. Really humble. At least I find him moving. And then we get those flashes which if taken as given my the majority he is merely a consumer of women, like the shocking translation depectis in 33.37.
It is true the Qur'an contains passages where it seems to confirm that who ever seeks dirt in it, will find it, because God does nto give perls to those who seek out shit. So what the Qur'an reflects is what the seeker seeks. It is never the Qur'an which is wrong but the motives of the reader.
The motives have been so much bastardized that there are things that set conumdrums for us.
To me, this, "zawwajnaakaha", translated as married, instead of a verb nakaha or ankaha, calls out something. This verb zawwaja for mating is only used with the prophet here and for paradise. What does that mean? Why not nakaha or ankaha?

In continuation to my earlier post, brother, I give you another key word in the Topic sentence of this paragraph 3336-39
http//haqeeqat.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Tabweeb%20Part%202/001.%20Roots%20originating%20in%20Surat%20002/2.054/2.%20Khair%20Kha%20Ya%20Ra/20.gif definite verbal noun, the source of verbs - . It signifies choice, an act of choosing between two or more possibilities.
May be a little reflection on it leads you to understand and appreciate the importance of mentioning this event.
The topic sentence lays down the fundamental principle by which shall be governed the life of the Believers. It imposes restriction on the freewill and freedom of choice of the Believers.
The moment you delve deeper, you will find it even has psychological element in it. It even restricts how the believers should psychologically hold about certain matters.

Just because there is no logical answer to you or me or others does not mean there is no answer.
And even if there is no answer to that verse for us now, do we throw the rest of Qoran away ?For me it is logical it was to do with the prophet and whoever or whatever was then and it is missing something for you and me but Qoran deals with marriage and divorce elsewhere if we want to follow its instructions and wait patiently to unravel it.
What message do ytou understand from that verse regardless of what "ZAID" is, Or does it not make any sense to you at all?
There are many verses one can put to one side, work through everything else they can from other verses ,then come back to them. I have done that with many verses and I am slowly working through them. Some are now making sense to me.
3337 is not stopping me from studying the message of Qoran and getting my life in order. No other book or thing or person has done that for me before.
Of course you have your own choice to make and I am not suggesting you do the same as me. I am just saying that in the long term,Qoran has solved many problems for me and shown me that I have to go through all of it endless times and be patient if I am to get its message.
Yes,there are still verses that I am struggling with, but I have every confidence that it is not Qoran, it is my own method/knowledge that is the issue.
Hope you take my post as constructive and not as defensive of Qoran. I know for a fact that Qoran has stood the scrutiny and will carry on doing so. I find Qoran allows for our adjustment and evolution/improvement.. I find it a living messenger for all generations till the end of time.
Just look at how effective an advert it is for curiosity of "why all this exist"?
GOD bless you.
Peace. -
From good logic 3337 is not stopping me from studying the message of Qoran and getting my life in order. No other book or thing or person has done that for me before.
There have been and are, quite large number, who have adopted sons. They adopted them in their childhood and married them on attaining maturity. The event is guidance for them.
Sons are of two types; biological sons and adopted sons. Instructions about this relationship, one original -physiological, the other one psychological, are separate.

And even if there is no answer to that verse for us now, do we throw the rest of Qoran away ?Peace, brother. As we know many people say that Quran is a book which Prophet wrote for himself. And this ayah is their one of the main argument. I feel bad about it cause I can interpret even women beat ayah, hand cut etc but especially 3337 I just can't understand it. Word of God must protect the Prophet and help people to believe him to accept his mission. But such stories make things to complicated even for people of Prophet's era. Why? We can't say anything bad about biography of prophet Yusuf, Yahya, Isa etc but we have to justify a lot of episodes of Prophet's life
There have been and are, quite large number, who have adopted sons. They adopted them in their childhood and married them on attaining maturity. The event is guidance for them.
Many laws of Quran are like this is haram/that is halal and that's all. There is no need for any example of Prophet for many laws he shouldn't start drinking and then stop drinking to show that drinking is haram. But why need example for this 3337 situation? Quran could say Zayd isn't your real son and if father of adopted son wants to marry his adopted son's ex-wife it's OK. Just law without actions. But the real story and especially rivayahs from some tafsirs (Tabari) makes many people think of self-serving purposes and even muslims have some doubts because of it
-
Peace, brother. As we know many people say that Quran is a book which Prophet wrote for himself.
Says who?
I find it intriguing when we don't believe what Allah reveals.
Ayats 3337-38 are unambiguous. The name could be
zayd, fred, sam, bill, ahmad. The prophet hesitated for
whatever reason to reveal what was revealed to him, but
finally obeyed Allah.C'mon folks we can do this. brickwall group
There is not to be upon the Prophet any discomfort concerning that
which Allah has imposed upon him. the established way of
Allah with those who have passed on before. And ever is
the command of Allah a destiny decreed.peace

Salam Everyone....
I received few PM In fact emails saying what is your response in this.. Why don't you answer... It is not must that I should answer all... Still I have to say to those who asked from me that this is unnecessary complications made up for this MANIFEST verse... Since topic is more of Men and Women issue.. I kept away... Since it will end up like attacking women here... Anyhow my answer is at least to those who asked is... Verse is perfect and it is Zaid.. The name of an adopted son of Prophet Mohamed...
Note below beautiful verse... God's law cannot be taken for granted.. Even how much it looks uncomfortable in the life style of ours.. . That's the reason Mohamed hid.. It was not the accepted practice / culture in that society.... But culture is not God's law...3304 "Allah has not made for a man two hearts in his interior. And He has not made your wives whom you declare unlawful your mothers. And he has not made your adopted sons your sons. That is your saying by your mouths, but Allah says the truth, and He guides to the way."
Why most here are so bamboozled to see the name of a person who is adopted son of Mohamed... And why consider and compare him so lowly... Why you claim like his name shouldn't be in the Quran.. And he is nothing of a person to those great in the era of prophet... How do you know they were great..who gave you that authority.... It's your assumptions... . Is Allah's word great than history books says...
Allah says Zaid is given the GRACE OF ALLAH (AN'AMMA ALLAH) and the favour of Mohamed himself... To get from Allah and his messenger a favor /grace, one person needs to be so fortunate and great in character.... That also simply being an adopted person... Undeniablely he should have been one of those blessed of Elite characters....
It is the will of God to mention what He likes in Quran... Good person or even bad person.... For example name of father of Ibrahim... Or name Aziz in Yousuf history(it may be name or not).. Or even Abu Lahab.. (it may be name or may b not) ..but their story is included... For what reason Abu Lahab is included in Quran with her wife without explaing who they were explicitly.... It's all Gods will....with everything guidance there... Zaid was undeniably the name.... There is no second option to it... How much you try... Coz verse is so plain and no equivocation can enter to it... ...Other concerns are why Prophet should marry her while Quran's instructions woukd be sufficient ... No need practically from prophet. .. Don't be adamant from the way of God... If u believe in God.
Yes... Once Zaid divorced her God gives her to Prophet.... Definitely it was not and it cannot be under compulsion to her... She must have agreed in the marriage. .. Coz in Quran before marriage the willingness of both party is obvious... Ultimately prophet and that lady would have agreed to marry... But concern is why Prophet was requested by God to marry her....
Prophets are chosen by God to be the messenger of God not only in words but in action as well... God says in 334 adopted sons are not biological sons.... This would have been a great misconception in the society with all ignorance... Who would come up with brave step forward to marry the ex wife of his adopted son in a society which were full of ignorance.... No one.. For sure no one... Even the great prophet hesitated giving priority to the respect of culture.. ... God chose the right person to deliver his message.... He wanted prophet to be a role model to the society by performing it to ward off the misconception that adopted sons are same as biological... They are not... They have their own DNA own mother and father... Just adopted.... Love, care and as much as you want to your adopted sons sane as own biological kids but adopted one won't become your own... That's the law of God....We know God address to males in Quran as matter of fact... Not coz males have better heart but it's the will of god for making quran simple.....
Now concern is adopted daughter's husband is permitted for adopted daughter's mother.......... If they are legally divorced..... Is it inside Those who are prohibited to marry list??... 422-24 -
Peace Aliart.
I get what you say here, quoteAs we know many people say that Quran is a book which Prophet wrote for himself. Why? We can't say anything bad about biography of prophet Yusuf, Yahya, Isa etc but we have to justify a lot of episodes of Prophet's life
Hope you get what I say below
As we know many people also say that Quran is a book which can only be authored by GOD. And this ayah makes no difference to this fact just because some do not understand it like many other Ayats . I feel one needs to persevere with Qoran if they say"I feel bad about it cause I can interpret even women beat ayah, hand cut etc but especially 3337 I just can't understand it".
Word of God does protect the Prophet and help people to believe him and accept his mission if one ponders Qoran properly and patiently . If stories make things too complicated even for people of Prophet's era there is a good reason of trial in that. If some people say anything bad about biography of prophet Yusuf, Yahya, Isa etc that is their choice and will they be able to justify/evidence it?Your choice and decision brother. Believe in it or do not believe in it.
GOD bless you.

Brothers, with your clues, I began to understand this event a little. And finally we can find benefits for humanity in controversial laws in polygamy, various punishments, and so on. But can you find a benefit for humanity in allowing you to marry your adopted son's ex-wife?

Brothers, with your clues, I began to understand this event a little. And finally we can find benefits for humanity in controversial laws in polygamy, various punishments, and so on. But can you find a benefit for humanity in allowing you to marry your adopted son's ex-wife?
Peace....
Just look at this verse... 422 ""And do not marry those whom your fathers married, except what has already occurred. Indeed, it was an immorality and hateful and was evil as a way""
That's shameful in the eyes God but not what your adopted sons married before is not. Adopted is never equal to biological....
What is the benefit?.....
336 "The Prophet is more worthy of the believers than themselves, and his wives are their mothers. And those of relationship are more entitled in the decree of Allah than the believers and the emigrants, except that you may do to your close associates a kindness . That was in the Book inscribed."
Now the ex wife of Zaid became the wife of prophet and after the demise of Prophet the ex wife of Zaid is not permitted for even Zaid to marry... Moreover, she was his (ummul mumineen).. And no wives of Prophet were permitted to marry after his death.... As you claim Aliart... This may be a secret conspiracy by prophet by keeping all her wives widdows for life after his death while God has not constituted any such law to common believers... Now what is the benefit in this? This may not be law of God for previous prophets... No clue... They would have even divorced and married to another or even after death of those prophets... No any verse to support.... But in Mohamed's case it's unique.... What is the benefit?.... We can't ask benefit of everything... God makes law... He knows best why laws are made in the manner it is...
Explicit benefit or the good side of allowing the ex wife of an adopted son is in my view....- blood relation never equal to any other. 336.....
- the adopted sons father is not genuinely "Father in law" for the wife of adopted son... So she can't be so free in front him like genuine father in law... Many rules of Quran will go contradictory if adopted son become same as biological son..411 Check relaxation laws as well 2431 or 3355...
Can the wife of Zaid relax in front of the prophet? No... He the prophet was not the biological father of her husband... It's not included in the list....
Adopted is the only word in god's law and adopted son is in human wording.. He is not son in god's law... He is as any other person away from your blood relation.... But just adopted... That's all...
Just try to grasp it....

Do research to find out the benefits of marriage. handshake

So what you could say is that this question does not concern you, but the fact that it does not concern you does not means that it cannot concern anybody else. May be for somebody it is a problem.
We, now, each of us lives in a world which is what it is and where this question does not concern personally most people, but we do not know what may happen at any other time, place or age. Do we know that at some in history there may not be a society where adopted children may be many and such situations may be given.
Even if not, if there are laws and those laws are clear because there is a gap, like concerning adopted children, then is it not proper to clarify it?
I can understand that you may feel unrest because something might not be clear, but I can't see why it should upset you that something should be clarified. Might be at the time it was revealed the question was extremely pertinent. We do not live in that age, you feel that it does nto concern you, so what does it bother you that it should be clear for those concerned.
On the other hand, I insist, although I do not expect any more insights than previously
?why the verb zawwaja, standing (at least apparently) for marrying, instead of the verb nakaha or ankaha is only applied in the case of the prophet and in paradise, and never for other kind of marriage?
Salaam

Peace Aliart and Huruf.... ..
I don't know why you failed to grasp why God used szawwajja to marry in the case of prophet only to the ex wife of Zaid and to those in Janna.
It's so simple and obvious.... These two marriages (Zaid ex wife for Prophet and marriages in Janna) are totally under complete willingness of God.... It was not the wish and liking of Prophet that he should marry the ex wife of Zaid... But God gave him and asked him to marry. In fact God was the one who made the partner for him... And in Janna God will make marry those in Janna... Not our option... Same with Zaid ex...In all other cases in our life and in quran people find their partners and they marry that's why God used the word Nakah (marry-verb) .. But these two exceptional cases is nothing to do with our own option but as God planned... In fact God plans everything as you aware.. But in all occasions God gives freedom to choose our wives... But here in Janna No freedom but God already chosen and marry the one God chose to us and we accept.... . Prophet case.... Prophet never thought to marry her and kind of hesitant but still God made him marry her... That's why God uses WE WILL MAKE THEM MARRY (szawwajnahum) in Janna... And for Prophet WE MARRIED HER TO YOU (szawwajnkaha)....
All God's solo wish... That's why not used nakaha or ankaha.... The word WE here is key....
I don't know whether you agree but that's what I get in my understanding....
