What made you decide to leave sectarian Islam?
-
May be progressive wanted to say that "Qoran Alone Islam" is many different sects, I do not know if he wants to include his.
Brother progressive, do you follow Qoran Alone? Which sect of Qoran Alone is the right one?
GOD bless you.
Peace. -

Peace.I meant what I said. "Quran Alone Islam" is not authorized by God in the Quran. We are to follow "deen al islam." All monotheists or muslims or mumins - whatever you call yourself - need to stick together and respect one another and not be divided. Yes, there are people who follow the Hebrew Bible and there are people who follow the Quran, and among them are many sects. However, why keep fighting with Sunnis?
Also, another thing is that most so-called "Quran Alone Muslims" simply push marxist ideas. They take some verses and inject feminism or some other junk ideology into their interpretation and say "God said XYZ." They corrupt the message of the Quran.
End the partisanship.
3103 You shall hold fast to the rope of God, all of you, and do not be divided. Recall GOD's blessings upon you - you used to be enemies and He reconciled your hearts. By His grace, you became brothers. You were at the brink of a pit of fire, and He saved you therefrom. God thus explains His sings/revelations for you, so that you may be guided.
3104 Let there be a community of you who invite to what is good, advocate righteousness, and prevents evil. These are the successful ones.
3105 Do not be like those who became divided and disputed, despite the clear evidence that came to them. For those, there is a tremendous punishment.
Nowadays there is no such community.

Peace progressive.
Yes ,I see your point. However GOD authorised His deen and wants us to follow His scriptures( Only GOD s instructions and words!),but like you said people put their own spin on GOD s words. That is a different topic.
Brother hawk asked if you can define a "sect", may be we can carry on this conversation after you give us your take on what you mean by "sect"?
GOD bless you.

I left sunni because as I grow up, I saw that majority of sunni are doing things that contradicts the Quran.
I started out just by the topic of Dogs where sunni prohibits(unclean etc) it, which i have found no evidence in the Quran. The only evidence that i found is that in surah 1818 proof the hadith is fabricated. From then on, I?ve learned alot from the Quran itself.
Quran, Surah An Nisa, Verse 82
?Then do they not reflect upon the Qur'an? If it had been from other than Allah , they would have found within it much contradiction.? -
What made me decide to leave my illusion of "having the truth"?
I repeat what I said elsewhere ,but is appropriate here
I recall, few years ago, when I sort of realised my ?cleverness? included a lot of ignorance and non sense, it was like falling from a top perch .(May be it still does?)
I ,then started to undo my ? Hypnotism/brainwashing? and probably went about it with strong feelings, falling into difficult situations with people.
This changed me to have an ?attitude? of ?I am aware now?/You cannot fool me/you are sheep/you are fools/I know better now/ you are sectarians, I have the ?truth??etc?. I was coming on strong towards shouting out this ?truth? or what I really thought was the truth!Anyway, little did I realise that far from changing for the better, I was changing for the worse.
It is only recently that I am reflecting on my thoughts, deeds, behaviour, communication and relationships with GOD and others.I am also realising that Qoran deals with what people are and addresses the good, bad and ugly offering a way out for each of these individuals, if they followed the best path instructed by the Creator in the message.
I am now changing course altogether. Working on myself as best I can .To concentrate on my path and treat all people on a same level until I have evidence their character is ?oppressive/bad?, even then, I have no hate inside(trying very hard ) knowing that all people can change and that GOD is Forgiver most Merciful.
I do not preach or argue or even initiate conversations, I just give people a chance to talk to me about whatever they want to. I am trying very hard to listen to everyone I meet. I have no affiliation or belong to any congregation or religion or sect. I feel inside like I belong to all congregations and at the same time I am separate in a personal relationship with GOD Alone .
My aim is to be a peaceful, good, non-judgemental, positive and friendly person. I am working on it.
Very difficult indeed.
GOD bless .

We had hadith books as well as Quran. But I was not allowed to read the hadiths. When I began to understand what adult stuffs were and then went to browse hadiths I got why I wasn't allowed! But yeah, just like every "Muslim" parent, I was told I would go to heaven only if I spoke the truth, but then they told me I was to believe in hadiths which may not be fully true! My expression to it---> o
I was always able to see something was not right about the hadiths. I still kept quiet. At young age, I learned to be an excellent hypocrite. I mean just like every other "sunni" I could pinpoint how music and pictures were haram and all, but I myself never gave them up. Hey, that wasn't wrong. I was not obeying the Prophet. But you can't say I wasn't following him. He had concert at home and saw no problem with Aisha's dolls despite making them haram ;D
One thing I did best was hating the shias. How nasty they prayed only 3 times, while most sunnis including me at the time were not doing any prayer at all back in the days. Some years ago, I got too involved with hadiths because of Mr dajjal. I learned a lot. I was also warned about how shias are his followers. Later I found out many of the hadiths used for dajjal were coming right from that sect's books >(. To make things worse, he is not in the Quran (
Too much focus on hadiths started making our lives miserable. My sibling went overly sectarian and finally began to talibanize our home. It became hard for us to speak. It became hard to keep the home decorated. Our clothes became a problem! Flood of superstitions coming right from the hadiths was the most annoying thing. It all got me rethinking. The structures of the hadith got me suspicious also. It was having trouble with the fact that God didn't care about how so many would die under antichrist. I began to search for an answer. Read the criticism of hadiths. I could no more believe in them. But was I the only one? Was I doing something wrong by rejecting them? These questions got me to Khalifa's site and free-minds forum. I read all the debates and finally began to realize that I was with the satan!

My brother follows Tabligh Jamah. His wife doesn't speak in front of me (or other men). Because they believe a woman's voice is also Hijab. o
They mostly read their book which they claim is the "best book in the world" ;D
