    Peace,

24/30 Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty
that will make for greater purity for them And Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.

24/31 And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty

"the easiest way to avoid falling off a cliff is to stay away from the edge"

    peace

You have prophet Lut telling his apparently male people that his daughters daughters are better for them than his guests. He was a prophet.

As tot he prophets wives, they were int heir home, you do not go and pester women in her home with your own errands and without thinking whether you catch them in a good moment or not. They might be taking a rest or just not be presentable, therefore the hiyab (curtain)
      Other.

At any rate there is nothing the Qur'an that forbids such a thing, and on the other hand there is something that how do we dare to forbid what God does not forbid or allow what God does not allow. Can't remember the aya.

Also there is the principle that he beliving males and the beliving females are friends of each other nd order what is good, etc., in order to order something you must intereact and in order to be friedns ou must interact. If there was soe reservation as to that, it logically should have been shown int the context, becaus eas it is it is completely unrestricted, except for the general restriction that males whould be chast and women should be chaste. That is it.

      Salaam

RED sorry not sure what you mean by that.

GREEN I take you're referring to the verse about how to interact with the prophet's wife. I see where you going with that and agree, basically not knowing the condition of a woman insider her house, Allah's advising to interact behind some kind of separation

BLUE I know aye you're referring to but please understand that my topic was very clear about this matter, which is a situation where I'm discussing this matter with someone who believes more in hadith stories than verses of the Quran and just by having one Hadith saying mixing gender is forbidden, these people will automatically override the verse stating that "if God hasn't forbidden it it's therefore not forbidden"

Despite that, the verses that I came across so far do not clearly tell whether such interaction is permissible or not. Some are very specific to the prophet's wife or for a specific circumstance (being in a house), others are majorly discussing clothing ethics rather than interaction.

I have managed to find one HADITH section showing that interaction was allowed Book 1 Hadith 149

Abu Juhaifah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported
The Prophet (&#65018 made a bond of brotherhood between Salman and Abud-Darda'. Salman paid a visit to Abud-Darda' and found Umm Darda' (his wife) dressed in shabby clothes and asked her why she was in that state. She replied "Your brother Abud-Darda' is not interested in (the luxuries of) this world. In the meantime Abud-Darda' came in and prepared a meal for Salman. Salman requested Abud-Darda' to eat (with him) but Abud-Darda' said "I am fasting." Salman said "I am not going to eat unless you eat." So, Abud-Darda' ate (with Salman). When it was night and (a part of the night passed), Abud-Darda' got up (to offer the night prayer) but Salman asked him to sleep and Abud-Darda' slept. After some time Abud-Darda' again got up but Salman asked him to sleep. When it was the last hours of the night, Salman asked him to get up and both of them offered (Tahajjud) prayer. Then Salman told Abud-Darda' "You owe a duty to your Rubb, you owe a duty to your body; you owe a duty to your family; so you should give to every one his due. Abud-Darda' came to the Prophet (&#65018 and reported the whole story. Prophet (&#65018 said, "Salman is right".

      .

RED It says Bukhari but is it? The source suggest Ryad-al-Salihim
BOLD anyway the bold side suggest the two interacting and then Abud-Darda coming in and preparing meal

if you guys can find any other hadith, it will be great

But how is this a sign that interaction is forbidden? to me it sounds like God advising on how to interact (ie. lower gaze=in a soft manner not flirty and modestly clothed)

          We agree handshake

Peace NewFreeMind, Interaction is not forbidden, if it was, business would suffer,
some information could not be transmitted, some repairs would have to be put off,
delivery services could be stalled, freedom would be inhibited. It is not interaction
that is forbidden but "how" we interact! I understand your conundrum about
discourse with hadithers but for me those arguments are settled by Quran.
People can say "the bible says this or that" or "the Veda says this or that"
but the Quran is the final revelation revealed to us. jedi

          peace
