I understand that the Evangel revealed to the Messiah was never preserved as a book. The so-called ?canonical Gospels? may contain traces of the original Evangel. So it was passed down among the Nazarenes orally. They are instructed by Allah Most High to judge by what He revealed therein. It is the previous Ayah which explains what was revealed in that Evangel, i.e., confirmation of the Torah. Hence it is implied that the Nazarenes have to reject the false teachings of the manufactured parts of their religion which contravene the Evangel?s message to believe in the Torah. For example, the Torah teaches unitarianism while the Christian religion teaches a triune godhead. Now Allah is telling the Nazarenes they have to judge by what He revealed to them in the Evangel, i.e., to accept the Torah and its teachings. If they fail to do so and continue upon their manufactured and idolatrous dogma they will be branded al-F?siq?n. Furthermore, it is also a revelation within the original Evangel that the Messiah gave glad-tidings of the coming of an apostle after him, namely, Ahmad . Part of judging by what Allah has revealed in the Evangel means that the Nazarenes must accept Ahmad too.

So you say that this ayah isnt about the Gospel. But when we read this and the previous ayah the meaning is the Gospel.
But could there be a misinterpretation?
like the right translation would be like Shakir And the followers of the Injeel should have judged by what Allah revealed in it; and whoever did not judge by what Allah revealed, those are they that are the transgressors.

So instead of "let" its "should have".
Are you that much into Arabic, because I aint??

Anyway there are nothing about the trinity in the Gospel. All that thing is only doctrines. There was some passage in KJV (old translation) saying like that. But they are all removed in new Bibles. They were additions and not in the old scriptures.

I have checked the root word of Injil which is Nuun-Jiim-Lam (--&#1604 = evangel, to become verdant, disclose/manifest, have wide/large eyes.

        minjal luxuriant (robes), clever camel-driver.

I think the word to be checked is the first word Walyahkum .

Is this word related to present or past?

Most translation say "let", so it meaning the Gospel have to be followed.
But also one (Shakir) says "should have" meaning that dont need anymore.

We sent ?Isa son of Maryam after those prophets, confirming the Torah that was (revealed) before him, and We gave him the Injil having guidance and light therein, and confirming the Torah that was (revealed) before it; a guidance and a lesson for the God-fearing. (46) And the people of the Injil must judge according to what Allah has sent down therein. Those who do did not judge according to what Allah has sent down, they are the sinners. (47)

It is a rule in Arabic that if present tense comes after "LAM" it gives meanings of past. So the red part above means "who did not decide/order" which is related to past actions.

                  Hope it helps.

I see you change "do" to "did".
But what about "must judge". It's still present.

I do not see "must" in the Arabic text of the verse. Translators have added it to their interpretation.

The verse is saying "who did not judge with what God sent down, those are fasiqoon.

                        How to understand this?
547 And let the people of the Gospel judge with what God has sent down in it.

The Gospel was/is corrupted so I don't understand this!
One could say that the intention is the original Gospel. But here God say that there should be judged with it, so it's have to be the present one.

                        Simple...
Let them judge with their own judgement..
Everything that is 'straight' can be 'corrupted'
And everything that is 'corrupted' can be 'straightened'...
                        Nothing is 'perfect'... including yours...

                        More of same story
548 For each of you We have made laws, and a structure; and if God had willed, He would have made you all one nation.

So the Christians should stay in their religion, and follow their community??

Yes.. and let them fix their own society..
They will act as an actor to do check and balance to you and your society.. when your society become more corrupted than they are...

Note The notions of 'expansion' and 'conversion' is among the things which was 'corrupted' within Christianity and transferred into Islam. The arrogancy of 'chosen people' is among the things which was 'corrupted' within Judaism transferred along to Christianity and transferred along to Islam.

There is no "let" in the Ayah. The subject of verb is specifically mentioned.

And the holders of In'jeel should command the people by that which Allah the Exalted had communicated therein.

Be mindful; if anyone in timeline decided and commanded not by that the Book which Allah the Exalted had communicated

Thereat, they are truly the people who are aberrant in habit of going out of the prescribed bounds.

It should be read in textual frame; Ayah 44-50

All can be corrupted, including and especially OUR law.

Human learn from mistakes.. that's why HUMILITY is among the pre-requisite for wisdom.
