It is a common recurring pattern on religions.. any religion for that matter.

Once the common pattern being applied to invent a new religion (let's take for example the religion of Quranism) then the same results will be produced. The same recipe will always resulted in the same dishes.Really nice video! Thanks Jafar for sharing!
So set your face to the system of monotheism. It is the inclination that God has nurtured the people on. There is no changing in the creation of God. Such is the pure system, but most of the people do not know.
Turn to Him, and be aware of Him, and hold the Connection, and do not be of the polytheists.
From those who have divided their system and become "religion", each group exult with what they have.Let's not be divided into "religion" which would make us of polytheists.
God does not forgive that partners be set up with Him, and He forgives other than that for whom He pleases. Whoever sets up partners with God has indeed strayed a far straying.
Indeed, polytheists have indeed strayed a far straying and God will not forgive shirk.
Such is the guidance of God, He guides with it whom He pleases of His servants. And if they set up partners, then all that they had worked would fall away from them.
And polytheists' deeds would be in vain.

Although sincerity is a very important component, it is not enough. In my experience, sincerity/honesty is the foundation. It allows one to see their own flaws in an objective and selfless manner i.e disregarding the things that please or displease you and making a judgement, that in my opinion is honesty. And it is particularly important to exercise towards our own self.
Honesty will certainly allow one to see new realities about themselves and their surrounding but it is not enough to make things happen. Imo there is also Understanding as an important component that builds on top of honesty. If Honesty allows you to know what to do, e.g change this or this about yourself, then Understanding goes a step forward and gives you one or more ideas about how to do it by (honestly) understanding the whys and hows behind the things about ourselves and our actions. And it's still enough not in my experience. These two things won't allow to make things happen unless we have the Willpower to make the change happen. We simply love the pleasurable and despise the displeasurable and this reality is something that restrains our actions, making our actions follows our desires most of the times, even against our will. Therefore to go against the current and to not just simply follow the path of least resistance one needs a huge deal of willpower.
Life with all its "ups" and "downs" is a constant flow of practice material, the fuel to hopefully gain the above and make change happen. Therefore we should take both the "good" and "bad" in life as opportunities for this noble purpose.

Sincerity is not honesty. You have made that switch and it is by no means the same. Honesty is an attitude, but sincerity is something that comes before any attitude. If you "have to be honest" you are still not sincere.
As to eing the basis, I would think it is the result. If you are convinced you can be sincere. If you are not fullyconvinced then you have to try to be honest.

Many different takes on this topic. I would like to state my own experience. When it was made known to me that hadith can be separated from the Quran, I was dumbstruck. I did not understand why I ever assumed that it was not possible to exclude one from the other. I took a good six month to recover from the shock of this newly gained knowledge, and yes certain passages in AQ made sense to me after that
Most of the people in the land will lead you away from God's guidance if you follow them; they only follow their own conjecture and preach falsehood (6116)
and
And when it is said to them, "Follow what Allah has revealed," they say, "Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers doing." Even though their fathers understood nothing, nor were they guided? (2170)
Everything came in stages after that. From 5 prayer to 3. Then purification of prayer. Then no ritual salaat at all, but the reading whenever I can. I am still in the progress of learning Salaat.
I will have to say that belief is not really dependant on intelligence or your IQ. There is a different component that takes place within our selves. Being good is essential because it can lead you to God. But I agree with Huruf on this one. This component seems to be sincerity

I would also like to point out how important communication is. Had it not been for that one particular guy, that worked with me (briefly) in a community organization to feed the elderly, I would have never even thought about it. How can billions of people be wrong? How can so many be brainwashed to this extent?
AQ is very flexible and can sustain itself in many cultures. So it makes sense that each of their own community should voice their concern/communication to their surroundings. And the sincere amongst us can wake up and see things for what they truly are.God bless, and may our Lord guide us and be merciful on us.

I used sincerity and honesty interchangeably as they are linguistically similar. If for you, they mean completely different things then you have to clarify and possibly simplify your thoughts aswell.
In order to be honest/sincere, we have to practice it. it is related to thoughts, actions or events where it can be practiced. It is not something that happens randomly, or comes out of the blue. Being honest/sincere can be harmful, disadvantagous, and simply unpleasurable and thus is not something that you naturally do when you naturally want to avoid those things.
If you mean by for example, having to tell the truth ("being honest" out of fear of being caught or under compulsion, then this is not the principle of honesty/sincerity in play but rather fear or whatever it is that motivated the action. Not honesty/sincerity.
But my point was to say that "sincerity" if you prefer is not enough to claim it is paradise.

Let's not be deluded by PRIDE which would make us forget that we're all one after all, the children of infinite creator.
And everyone actually everything have DIRECT connection the the infinite creator.
Thus no intermediaries actually needed, holy books, religion, priest, not needed...The act of putting 'things' into pedestal is driven by PRIDE.
The act to worshiping things which we've identified with (religion, holy books, ethnicity, race up to football club) is driven by our need to feel 'superior' compared to other groups which shall enforce us to inferiorize and alienize other things as SEPARATE from us, labeled as "THEM".If we put Ali on the pedestal we need to inferiorize Abu Bakr, Usman etc..
If we put Quran on the pedestal we need to inferiorize Bible, Gospel, Veda, and Harry Potter.
If we put Islam on the pedestal we need to inferiorize Christianity, Judaism, Atheism, Buddhism etc..
If we put Muhammad on the pedestal we need to inferiorize Jesus, Moses, Siddhartha, ..
If we put Arabic on the pedestal we need to inferiorize Hebrew, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Swahili, English
If we put Saudi Arabia on the pedestal we need to inferiorize Iran, Yemen, Jordan, Egypt, Israel
If we put iPhone on the pedestal we need to inferiorize Samsung Galaxy, LG, Sony, Oppo
If we put Barcelona FC on the pedestal we need to inferiorize Manchester United, Chelsea, Juventus, Real MadridAnd the list goes on and on...

I don't understand what "Vain" here really means, but every deeds or even thoughts have it's own 'effects' thus not useless.
One need to be exposed to something before he/she can learn on how to control it.
One need to be exposed to PRIDE taste it's nature and addictive sweetness before he/she can learn on how to control it.
One need to be exposed to HATE taste it's nature and boost of energy that it bring before he/she can learn on how to control it.
and so on and so on..The exposure is actually the objective of our life in this universe.. that's why you find such pattern recurring from ancient times up until now,
You're not supposed to be the follower of Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, Siddharta and what have you, you're supposed to WALK THE PATH as Muhammad, Jesus, Moses, Siddharta and others. Confused -> Ponder -> Ask -> Revelation
And God will always forgive.. there is nothing that He cannot forgive..
As God is UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, unification and coming back to Him is a moment of JOY and not FEAR.If there's somebody or something that tell you otherwise, you better be suspicious on their intention / motivation.
When in doubts, ask God directly, you do have direct communication channel with Him. Everyone has, everything has.
