ص ل و = Sad-Lam-Waw = prayer, supplication, petition, oration, eulogy, benediction, commendation, blessing, honour, magnify, bring forth, follow closely, walk/follow behind closely, to remain attached.
In a horse race when the second horse follows the first one so closely that its head always overlaps the first horse’s body that horse is called AL-MUSSALLI (i.e. the one who follows closely / remains attached).

Salat. has a common meaning with all its different interpretation which is "connection" . Basically everything in the universe is connected./ like all the parts in your body are interconnected and they all rely and contribute to the whole body . They do their salat because they know their salat.Animals and birds ,they do their salat ,because they know their salat_ connections_ ,like preparing for and doing their duties_ looking for food, or after their young each other... instinctively
We are also connected to each other through family or community or work and connected to our tasks in life through learning them and doing the tasks by preparation and doing them the best we can.
Our salat to each other and to our tasks is to do our duties with all with the best intention and action.
For example we need to prepare for visits to family and visit them, prepare for our work and plan it to do the best job...etcSo our salat is a duty which is part of our responsibilities.
Connecting to our creator is a salat to feed our soul.

Salah of none Arabs..
God says don't near Salah until you know what you utter... Yes.. I know this verse is directed at those who are intoxicated so they literally not aware what they speak though they speak...
But what about those who do not know Arabic in case Salat is in Arabic only... Can this condition be applied.. Yes of course... So what is the difference between who is intoxicated and the one who not at all aware what the Arabic verses do mean... Yes.. One. Would say, none Arabs can memorise in addition to, know the meaning of certain chapters of Quran and perform Salat.. Fair enough.. But why one need to do worship of God in an alien Language to him... Did God ever say so? Even if how much one memorise and repeat in Salat it won't be easy to concentrate the meaning of those chapters while uttering in Arabic.. To focus mind on reading in one language and at the same time to concentrate meaning in another language is very difficult... Unless you know language and meaning parallely...Suppose if Salat is closely following and when it comes to time fixed salat it is reading Arabic Quran is Salat as some say (not me) .. Here reading Arabic Quran is no more than intoxicated person... So.. If he reads the translation it is different... So for none Arabs Salat is reading the translation of Arabic Quran? There is no way a non Arab would get the meaning of Quran without reading it in a language that he knows.. So how this particular practice be Salat? He is reading first of all to understand Quran.. The practice of trying to understand Quran cannot be Salat.. Is it?
So.. Salat is something beyond all these.. Salat in fact a connection between God and His Ibadi.. Main thing in Salat is MAGNIFYING GOD as much as one can... Since we should know what we utter better be in a language what you are comfortable with and you know what you utter..
If you still prefer Arabic in Salat restricted to / with Quran verses, then ensure to keep it simple where you manifestly know what you utter in arabic and its obvious meaning.. For example.. If you repeat chapter ikhlas and if you are thorough with the meaning while you say verses in arabic... Then you know what you utter.. If you utter repeatedly in Salat Alhamdullah or subahanalla and if you are aware (I am sure you are) what they are then no harm saying Arabic in Salat.... So let our salat be meaningful and more active and full of life rather than parroting verses while there is no concentration or awareness of what we utter..Strange part in conventional Salat is people be silent... How can that be salat..? or none Arabs parroting small chapters... Hardly they know what they say.. Or at night Salats of conventional Muslims imam read long chapters and people behind either listening or falling sleep. . Even though they listen they know nothing of it.. Very identical to intoxicated people.. I knew my salat while I was type of conventional Muslim... Yes chapters memorised perfect but never realized the meaning while utter though knew the meaning.. It was just like formal good morning..
But one would claim, Quran is in Arabic so one has to somehow learn Arabic to read and speak and understand.. There is no other option if you want to be true believer... That's bit harsh.. Isn't it.. But if we take that in a broader sense, Yes it sounds right... For example if you want to speak to the world, learn English .. That's the only option... If you want to become a doctor learn medicine... So.. Once one has accepted God in his life and if he wants to maintain the faith and augment it, better work hard.. I mean better study Quran in depth.. For that know what is written in Arabic Quran coz that is word of God... Since technology is so high, perhaps you don't need to learn Arabic but still you can still reach its meaning if you know the rules of the language...
So Arabic Salat or none arabic Salat, ensure you know what you utter and magnify God.. Salat were even before arabic Quran so did they pray... So language is not a barrier for Salat.. Magnify God.. But ensure you know what you magnify..
