    Peace yall

    http//www.uselessjunk.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1324&mode=nested&order=0&thold=-1

this is so retarded that you have to see it for youself. To drink a liquid that is flamable is stupid. To actually set it on fire and THEN drink it is incredibly stupid.

    Poor kid though.

    lol

      Peace Noah,

My work has a lot to do with alcohol. Alcohol as preservative.

That's what it's for IMO. Or as alternative fuel.

          Peace

Andy has a point. Consuming alkohol is not par se prohibited, but neither is drinking gasoline. And im not going to do any of them. Simply because its outright stupid. Flamable fluids are not for consumption by logic alone.

see what happens when you light that (don't do it really, its dangerous...)

              Peace,

Good one Natu, I love it when silly arguements are abolished!

Unless there is fire in you tummy or any other place in you digestive system or unless you burn it like an idiot there is no real harm in small amounts of alcohol. Anyway this debate is taking place elsewhere.

I don't think you should use alcoholic deodrants or fragrances either (if you strike a match while spraying you have a weapon a flamethrower!) with that on your clothes or your body who knows what could happen!, just in case your in a science lab or near a fire! And don't wear any hair gel with the preservative (assuming you have some hair) have you watched 'home alone films'? the robber burns his head in each movie!!

I have seen people have a 'flaming sambuca', this is meant to be lit then blown out before drinking, but that guy must have forgot!

                  Dear Noah

Sugar sprinkled on a donut or cake is dangerous like alcohol in a fragrance! We must beware!

Come on, your not serious about the flammable point are you?!
I know there are good reasons why people should abstain but that one, thats the worst I've heard yet!

No, sugar is really unhealthy in the white form we get it today. Most health people over here refer to it as poison no better than aspartame.

It is not because it is flamable i dont drink it, i dont drink because its purposeless, and its tastes bad. The part about it being flameable is just one more point to it, not THE point on its own. Do i drink deoderant, no i dont. Do i drink liquid gas, no i dont. Basically, flameable fluids have a tendency to be toxic in one way or another, and alcohol is no different. But do use alcohol to clean my windows with.

                    Regards
                    Noah

Should donuts have a warning label on them for safety reasons ? -)

No man, pure alcohol itself has no taste. Look it up. The fruity taste is useually is the taste of the hops that wine or beer is produced from...alcohol in medicine is usually used as a solvent for the active ingredient of the medicine...

Khi- Salam. Pure alcohol may not have a fruity taste but it still feels bitter n strong when it reches our tongue, at least mine, i took it as medicine often enough. Bitterness is also a taste isnt it? Try it urself. Take pure alcohol n just take a small amount of it in ur mouth on ur tongue. Compare it with tateless ionfree water n ull obviously notice a difference. If u r unable 2 differentiate btw pure water n alcohol this means both r tasteless. GOD Bless!

                              Peace,

At least now people know what the stuff tastes like before they decide that it tastes bad wink

So does it all taste rotten or do the red wines and the stuf they put in food taste nice (I'm thinking if they didn't taste nice, they wouldn't put them in food, but I don't know...).

And is it all down to individual preference? like some people like the taste of lemon, others hate it! Khizar, you seem to have had some kind of taste experience, are you sure everyone would find that alcohol tastes that bad? Or shall I say alcoholic drinks, becuase as LT said, they have hops etc., and we're not neccessarily talking about medicines, becuase they aren't supposed to taste nice, to prevent overdose etc.)

                                  Substance description
Alcoholic beverages like wine, beer and liquors contain various amounts of ethanol. Ethanol (ethyl alcohol or methylcarbinol) is a colorless liquid with a pleasant and easily detectable odor and flammable characteristics.

                                  http//www.toxicology.mc.vanderbilt.edu/Outreach/Poison/ETHANOL.html

                                  and Taste...

This study examined taste descriptions elicited by ethanol and by other tastants in humans. All subjects described 10% ethanol as bitter and approximately 30% of the subjects described it as sweet and/or sour. Highly significant correlations were found between sweetness of some sucrose solutions (0.6-1%) and intensity of the taste of ethanol. In another experiment, quinine (bitter) solutions were rated as similar to 10% ethanol taste and this effect was potentiated by the addition of sucrose. In contrast, citric acid (sour) tended to decrease similarity ratings when added to the quinine solutions. Taken together, these findings suggest that (1) in humans ethanol tastes both bitter and sweet; and (2) the relationship between sucrose and ethanol intakes previously found in animals and humans may result, at least partially, from similar taste responses elicited by sucrose and ethanol.

Really, after reading this thread I am tempted to put some of those preservative spirit on my tongue just to taste it...

...although I think the fact that they had termites put there in 1950 or before might have them a 'buggy' taste ?

This is what turned up in my google search...but I see you have different results...

grain alcohol = ethanol = ethyl alcohol = grain neutral spirits = pure grain alcohol- This is pure alcohol--odorless, tasteless, and very potent at 190 proof.

May be I should have checked other sources too...

Well thank you for correcting this...

Im leaving this place, thuis has turned into a hodgepodge of discussion for sake of discussion. Whom in their right minds drink ethanol anyway?

1.The falmable fluid the kid in the movie drink is likely NOT raw ethanol.
2.This is just a symptom of what is happening to us. Devide and conquer.

I wish you all the best, you ll need it.

                                          Peace Noah,

                                          Don't be discouraged.

Ethanol is the proper chemical name for the alcohol in beverages. A beverage with ethanol can only ignite if it is greater than 50% in concentration by weight - this is known as 100 proof. That's how they would test the purity of alcohol in times before chemistry knowledge.

The spirit known as VODKA is just ethanol and water. Nothing else, no flavoring at all. So anyone who drinks beer, wine, spirits etc. is drinking ethanol.

It's good to learn about all sorts of things. Your post on the video for example was a very diverse type of post as far as posts go. That's a good thing. Learning comes sometimes in unexpected ways.

                                          Regards.
