I agree with Truth, stick about man Noah!

My position at the moment is such that I'm not sure whether it is prohibited or not, so its good that you've brought up information like this, t its appreciated. Perhaps the nature of my first post on this thread seemed a bit harsh, but we all need criticism to see whats going on. Apologies for any offence caused.

      Peace Noah and all,

Thank for your warning on white sugar, I shall look it up and maybe start using brown sugar if it is really 'poisonous'!

About drinks; the ethanol itself isn't what people drink it for, people drink wine for the tastes that come from the wine not the fraction of alcohol! Although spirits are 40% concentration, it is the taste that makes a drink pleasurable as well as the moderate affects of alcohol.

Early mediteranean muslims were the first to develop brandy (cognac), some encourages drinking in moderation for depression and other conditions.

      Peace
      Nural

          Peace,

So muslims shouldn't drink because alcohol catches on fire.

          Right!!!!!!! roll roll roll

Cars can also catch on fire, so we shouldn't be in one???????

Oil lamps can also cause fire, so we should live in darkness????

Kitchen fire can also spread, so we should eat raw food?????

I think my point has been expressed.

i've been reading all the posts on alcohol since i joined this forum but i never replied, but here i go...

i was always brought up believing that alcohol was haram and forbidden, but i'm 19 now and after reading things for myself and just from experience i dont personally believe its wrong. people have already posted the quotes from the quran regarding it so i wont post them again, but the way i interpret it is that alcohol isnt great, it obviously has its bad points, but i dont see it as forbidden. if people just drink occasionally, then whats the harm done? sometimes it just to be social its not to get yourself completely drunk. i know in islam its seen as haram, but i cant help if i dont feel that way. a small amount of alcohol helps people to feel more confident and happy, and as long as its not a regular thing then i dont personally think there is any problem. as long as you dont get completely mashed and you know you will be safe ie. at a friends house or somewhere you know you wont have to be going home alone or something.

at the end of the day every religion notices that alcohol has some negative effects, you dont even NEED religion to tell you that its common sense, but as long as you know the limit then the odd drink here and there is fine in my eyes. call me a bad muslim, i couldnt care less to be honest because thats how I'VE interpreted it, and i think thats what religion is all about - your OWN intepretation of the knowledge we have been given, which can be different to each person but at least that way you are being truthful and doing what YOU personally believe in - cant really go wrong that way

                Salaams All,

I went to a party, and remembered what you said.
You told me not to drink, Mum,
so I had a sprite instead.
I felt proud of myself, Mum, the way you said I would,
that I didn't drink and drive, though some friends
                said I should.
I made a healthy choice, and your advice to me was right,
the party finally ended, and the kids drove out of sight.
I got into my car, sure to get home in one piece.
I never knew what was coming, Mum, something I expected least.
Now I'm lying on the pavement, and I hear the policeman say,
The kid that caused this wreck was drunk, Mum.
                His voice seems far away.
My own blood's all around me, as I try hard not to cry.
I can hear the paramedic say, This girl is going to die.
I'm sure the guy had no idea, while he was flying high,
Because he chose to drink and drive, now I would have to die.
So why do people do it, Mum, knowing that it ruins lives?
And now the pain is cutting me, like a hundred stabbing knives.
Tell sister not to be afraid, Mum. Tell daddy to be brave.
And when I go to heaven, put "Daddy's Girl" on my grave.
Someone should have taught him, That it's wrong to drink and drive.
Maybe if his parents had, I'd still be alive.
My breath is getting shorter, Mum, I'm getting really scared.
These are my final moments, and I'm so unprepared.
I wish that you could hold me Mum, as I lie here and die.
I wish that I could say, "I love you, Mum!"
                So I love you and
                good-bye.
