    Well then I think dowry is a bad tradition because why u must buy u into a marriage!?

    I mean mahr can be whatever, like clothes, a copy of Al-Quran etc.

      Mehr is basically a gift. You're not buying your wife, nor is one selling one's daughter to another.

        yes, Dowry is wrong but a pathetic reality.
        Mehr is a gift for the bride's security.(mentioned in Quran)

            Its not only the men's family that demand dowry. Sometimes women's family also 'demands' the mehr.
