    Hi all,

So, maybe after all this, love is an illusion?

Whao, so many quotes. Looooooooooolllllllllll. Brother, my examples fit the word ambiguous. There are so many meanings of love which explained in my example. Love dont have ONE meaning. That is the meaning of the word ambiguous. Having many meanings. Many possibilites. GOD!!!!!! The love for the father can be equal to the love you give to your wife. Thats a digusting thought. The point i was trying to get across is. Love in itself is just BS. Its not the kind where u dont feel hungry or cant sleep. You do that when u have ur final exams and u havent studied. So what now, i feel LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE for my exams? Thats a poor man's dream.

        Peace Jaxal,

Many meanings does in fact denote ambiguity, but what you offered was not many meanings, it was many variations of the same meaning. I don't mean to split hairs, but I gotta call it like I see it.

The point i was trying to get across is. Love in itself is just BS.

But you haven't established this at all. You just keep repeating it in different ways.

Its not the kind where u dont feel hungry or cant sleep. You do that when u have ur final exams and u havent studied. So what now, i feel LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE for my exams?

I really have no idea what you're trying to say here. What does hunger and sleep have to do with proving love is bs??

by the way...you still didn't answer my question wink

        Peace,
        Tay

Ambiguous Open to more than one interpretation.

I have no need for you to understand what im saying. Weather you agree or not http//www.geocities.com/bigjaxal/s1.gif.

            Peace Jaxal,

            here it is from dictionary.com

1.Doubtfulness or uncertainty as regards interpretation ?leading a life of alleged moral ambiguity? (Anatole Broyard).
2.Something of doubtful meaning a poem full of ambiguities.

In other words, when a word is spoken, it can be considered ambiguous only when the the person being spoken to will have uncertainty regarding it's interpretation. For instance "a dirty little boy"
This could mean the little boy had dirt and grime all over his body, or it could mean the little boy is a pervert.

However, you saying you love KFC leaves no room for doubt. No one is going to think you are having a meaningful relationship with a bucket of chicken. What you offered was a variation of the term "love", not an example of the term's ambiguity.

This is constructive criticism bro, not an insult.

Putting that aside, your last comment is troubling...

I have no need for you to understand what im saying. Weather you agree or not

Then why bother participating in a discussion? And why challenge everyone to prove you wrong? I feel you've taken my comments personally. My apologies if I've insulted you in any way.

Getting back to the topic...perhaps not believing in love is comforting for you. I've met quite a few people in my life, and it seems suspicious that those who disbelieve in love are always the same people who've been hurt by believing in love.

Conversely, those who babble endlessly about all the wonders of love are usually the same ones who have found love in someone special.

So is the truth about love completely subjective? Or is it simply a matter of the mind trying to protect itself? I think you know where I stand - I've been on both sides of the story.

            Peace,
            Tay

              Hello Majidah,

              Salaam Br Lote-Tree,
I will only add that LOVE has many sides both good and bad.

I would like to believe that Love is Good. But it is how we deal with Love and how we come to terms with Love that can lead us to either disbelieve in the Goodness of Love like Jaxal has.

              And Love has many levels.

              Aye.

With this I mean that love is good when you can have your love in peace with someone but when for an example jelousy come in then it can kill the love and change it to hate.

Again I say, it is how you deal with love and how you come to terms with love that determines hate and jealousy.

With levels i mean that you can love someone in different ways, your partner who you share the bed with can you love passionated but your kids you love in another way and the same with your parents, relatives, friends and so on.

Yes, romantic love is not same as the love you have for your children or your friends because Romantic love is tied up with Sex. And Love is not sex in my viewpoint. So concept of Love is the same? What say you?

For me Love is so magic you never knows how it will turn you!

Aye Majidah, it is so magic! Even the pain of it all, the Hot Iron Through Your Soul of unrequited Love melts away into magic!...When Love beckoned to me I followed Love, Though Love's Words shattered my Dreams!

              Regards,

                Hello Nural,

                Peace,
I personally think it is very important and is like gravity in our lives, gravity is invisible but holds the solar systems and galaxies together. Love is what unites and is needed for peace. Scientists have limited knowledge of gravity at the moment, but with love I think every individual has a different understanding of it. Love is too vague and I think in this thread needs to be defined more clearly. But generally love is a good thing no matter what!

Good stuff in your post chap. Good insights.

By the way, great and interesting thread Lotetree. More heart warming, unlike the heated debates!

Thank you. I thought I try different approach. You can only take so much of heated debates. But Love is a Great Healer and Uniter -)
And Love is very important to all of us.

                Regards,

"Love" is not preached in the Quran. Why? Because that term is too broad. Love can be an intense feeling/ emotion or it can be a charitable act. Christians say of the Quran "The Quran does not teach us to love." Christians look at the mushy side of it.

Since the Quran is the best hadith, it goes straight to the point. It teaches us charity, justice, honesty, commitment, defense of the weak, etc..That is what "True Love" is all about.

Exactly you scored the highest points

Of course love is all that you mention and that is real pure love teaching from Al Quran.

                              Salaam Elena,

I think Tony doesn't refer to all christians.

But actually i have also heard that from christians that Quran compared to the Bible have less of love.

But it must be the reasons that God don't write exactly the word love in Quran but are generally talking about good acts that are indeed love acts.

                              Peace

                                Thank you, pretty sis. D

Christians say that "God is love" 1 John 48

Then goes on to say this

1Co 134 Love suffereth long, and is kind; love envieth not; love vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
                                1Co 135 doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not its own, is not provoked, taketh not account of evil;
                                1Co 136 rejoiceth not in unrighteousness, but rejoiceth with the truth;
1Co 137 beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Take note, the underlined words and the following contradictions that follow them.

"Love envieth not" but the bible also says, "...for I am a jealous God" (Exo 205)

"Vaunted not itself"...but God in the Bible always emphasize His greatness.

"Taketh not account of evil" but the bible also says that people are judged according to their works (Rev 2012 ).

"Believeth all things"...the God believes ALL THINGS???

                                "Hopeth all things"...the God hopes???

Humans cannot pinpoint what exactly love is. Even the bible writers were confused.

                                  Paz (Spanish for Peace)

Majidah, what's the Swedish word for Peace?

Lote Tree, would you like to include in your thread the different views of love from different beliefs, say Sikhism, Buddhism, etc? If, please, share what you all know about that.

Do we not all want that special someone to sweep us away in a joyous embrace and transform us into a swarm of multi-coloured butterflies that dance in the gentle summer breeze or into a shower of cool summer rain that kisses the velvety petals of tulips and daffidils in the Swedish countryside?

                                      Regards,

                                        Peace all,

Sorry, but I'm tired and I can't really be bothered reading the whole of this thread, so I'm going to put my 5 cents worth.

In my opinion love is an illusion.

From a atheist/scientific point of view, companionship is done purely on the basis of survival of the fittest. Yes even 'love' of children has to do with survival of the fittest.

Even the feeling of 'love' of God can be labeled as surviving the test.

                                        You're preserving your genetics/self.

I'd rather people use the term, realisation of God's existence rather than "love" of God.

Love decays, dies, it can very easily be manipulated (believe me done it plenty of times before).

I won't reveal too much but I'll define love as an economic supply/demand curve.

                                        wink

                                          Hello Elena,

Lote Tree, would you like to include in your thread the different views of love from different beliefs, say Sikhism, Buddhism, etc? If, please, share what you all know about that.

I prefer to hear what people have to say about love first and try to understand their perspective. May be later we can discuss how different faith percieve Love in all its aspect...

                                          Regards,
