    Shlaamah ? ??r,

    Sholom be upon you,

I was not being sneaky, just infoming you that righteousness is righteousness, no matter what "title" one gives him/herself, the task is still the same.

Being a "firefighter", what if you are called on to arrest a thief like a "policeman"? Having converted to "firefighter" you probably will think that is someone elses job. Be like water my friend (Bruce Lee). Peace is that water

Well, I do think that everyone should take care of their task. I wouldn't want firefighters looking for criminals nor policemen trying to take out fire. I don't get your point, I'm afraid...

Funny you mention water. The last part of "shalom" is actually the one of "water". Maybe useless information, i don't know...

Lastly, will you be studying Kabala? I suggest that if you are going to be in judaism that you study this aspect of it in detail.

    I wouldn't do that.
Qabalah is rather something you get on with when you have comprehended the Tanakh and many other things, but that's just my view.

      .

How can you NOT study it, man ??!! There's some good stuff there.

If you like to recommend some titles on Judaism, I'd be happy to know. I like mapping the various branches of thought in various systems.

          Peace

Peace be upon you El Aziz,

Thank you for allowing us to disuss your journey

I just took it as one example. I just as well change it to "Can retired nurses write christmas cards". Doesn't make any sense to me.

Then I agree it makes no sense

Just like the "peaceful children" way of explaining the question that was posed from the start. It does not make any sense.

You will have to come to an exact deifinition of "spiritual". You will find that many cannot explain that word. That which is spiritual is that which deals with the "nafs"(spirit/mind). The human being comes into existense when the Spirit(nafs) is BREATHED into the human, and that happens before the baby even comes out of the womb. If you ponder on it, you will realize that the spiritual journey starts when the Spirit (nafs) is blown into the "clay". If you stil agree, I will ask you to define EXACTLY at what age/time one begins to seek "spiritual" guidance? Just because a baby cannot articulate exactly what the urges it is experiening are, does not mean it doesnt have these urges.

As you speak of what is breathed into us from the days of the womb or even clay - that would be the "ruuh" that you refer to which is the translation of it.
The nafs would be the part of "spirit" that is rather a reflection, since nafs means "self" and aims to the kind of spiritual quest that you and I and most of the others on this forum take upon us. That is not the kind of journey that a kid of between 6 months-2 years takes upon him or her. That was what I was speaking of as I said that children are not in need of such a guidance. if we look at what you're saying - clay would be in need of spiritual guidance too and I wouldn't anyway put it in such terms.

To "convert" is to change from one thing to another, so you have to be coming from somewhere.

Very funny. I didn't invent the term, it is of the english language which is not even my native one. However, we use the same term in Swedish even though it doesn't make any more sense in our language since i didn't invent the term there neither. Better? Did it make things clear for you?

Sect is easy to understand. We can look at the word "SECTion" as oppossed to "WHOLE". When we take from the WHOLE and break into SECTions, each section rejoicing in what it has as oppossed to others, then it is a sect. Peacefulness(islam) is a way of life.

Oh damnit. Then anything that isn't 100% communal is a sect to you?
My mother doesn't work with my father. She works with the public SECTor and my father runs a company of his own. Does that make the swedish authorities a SECT of what the word means? You tell me...

Why would one have to perform a ritual even if they already hold the very same beliefs?

Do you think believs are just beliefs and that's it? The ritual are supposed to have a meaning and are to be reflected over in order to remind us of something. God says something in the Bible like "I forgive you for forgetting about me, but not if you forget about the things I have taught you".

I was not talking on the physical level, I am speaking of the Spiritual/mental level, your THOUGHTS/IDEAS. So to take your example, what does it mean to"join my brothaz in the hood"? Do you mean to physically move there? If so, then no that does not detach yuo from the rest of the world. But I dont think you meant moving to Isreal when you said "converting to Judaism". I think what you meant was taking on a certain belief system. So to use my neighborhood as an example of "the hood", many on my block have the mindset that they should sell drugs, which makes them part of a "group" who may or may not eventually go to war with another group who sells drugs. This disconnects one human from another.

Same with judaism, the RELIGION ISLAM christianity, etc etc.

          PEACEFULNESS does not cause sects.

Why would not peacefulness not be able to operate within any social or religious group? One of these groups does not guarantee peacefulness, but excluding the members of such a group from peacefulness is to me pretty narrow minded.

The man and woman are created to come together to continue the species, just like all creatures do naturally. To go against nature is the wrong path. Form and function show us clearly the purpose of the penis and vagina, see how they fit together perfectly? Do you try to put a plug into another plug, or into an outlet?

No that's not the thing, nature created things to eat but we still use micro wave ovens in order to eat the food.
I'm sure that gay people can work things out, and it's not even an issue. working the outlet/plug thing out.
Do I always have sex in order to penetrate my women and impregnant her? Well, without revealing to many details about my sex life - I don't. Does that make our act act unnatural? I don't think so.

You are absolutely correct! My error, I was trying to reply to fast. But the point still remains, just replace nafs with ruh (except the first occurence).

The nafs would be the part of "spirit" that is rather a reflection, since nafs means "self" and aims to the kind of spiritual quest that you and I and most of the others on this forum take upon us. If what I am saying is not true, then there must be a discernable time when spriitual guidance is needed, please inform me of that time. Its the same as trying to find when night stops and day starts, or when hot stops and cold starts.

Maybe this will explain the phrase "Hear O Isreal, the Lord your God is ONE".

The term Holy comes from "WHOLE"

Again, I am not talking about the physica plane, I am dealing with belief systems (thoughts with energy/emotion behind them).

I have not excluded anyone from Peace, I am saying that is all that really matters, not the title. That is why this reading (quran) says that ANYONE who trusts in the God, The ending time, and lives righteous will have thier reward. You can be peaceful "jew", peaceful "christian", etc.

Is it easier to get rich if you are jewish?

Isn't that the old stereotype prejudice against the Jews? Would you raise this question if he would convert to Bahai or Christianity?
Actually, I think it is an interesting question, considering what el-Aziz had said before. Plus, Nural, did a pretty good job of saying he's merely asking out of curiousity.

For some reason when I read this, I thought of the community that follows Aga Khan (Ismailiya/Khoja? ? ). They really support each other in terms of finances and other community needs, like housing etc. It's a close-knit community, and I'm not sure if just anyone can convert into it though. All in all, it is easier to be well off, financially if you're in that group. Atleast this is from what I've seen in my country.

                      Peace

Good point. They're not as prolific as the Jews in the acquisition of power through positioning though.

Yes, right you are Zein. There is another community called Memons. Khoja's are also a community. My stepmom is Khoja and a Shia. They are pretty well off and these communities do support each other quite a lot no matter which country they settle in.

                            Salaam St?phane,

Don't be so ironic!!!! Or I will tell all what u going to convert to.

And that u have gays as friends shock

                            Peace Sis Maria

First of all, it is no secret that I'm planning on converting to judaism so you are free to tell anyone about my thoughts.
Second, it cannot possibly be a secret that I do have gay friends so the threat that you will tell about me having gay friends is no longer a threat.
Third, I was not being Ironic.

Moreover, I do not accept these attacks that are not what so ever related to the subjected.

                            Ok. Good luck.

My question is...what are you converting to?? Is Judaism from Allah?, if so, please post the ayat or Torah verse where Allah or Moses says that, they brought Judaism as a Deen. Thanks.

Listen man, that you'd have to ask someone that makes such a stupid claim that judaism is a deen from God. 'Cause I don't.
I answered the question out of zenjes curiousity where upon he split the thread in order to discuss the subject on another thread.

Hmmm...it seemed pretty stupid to me that, given that Allah has cursed the Jews, that you would want to be apart of that...in any degree. wink

                              Btw, take it easy.

First of all, it is no secret that I'm planning on converting to judaism.

I got nothing aginst the Jews, but I do feel sorry for them because all of trhe stuff taht they have being through. Plus, you are so right they are coursed and why do you want to be with that. I do not understand.

I feel much as you do about feeling sorry for many of them. As far as el-aziz is concerned, well, he is simply not thinking clearly at the moment, hopefully, by being here at free-minds, he will grow.

                                          Dhulqarnane and Fatima...

It is indeed relucantly that I feel myself having to express my disgust for such comments as the jews would be cursed by God (where do you get that from anyway?) and talking of me in third person whilst stating that I'm not thinking clearly.
Now let's say I am confused... Do you think that this kind of talking with a total lack of modesty will get me thinking clear? Think again dhully...and you too American Fatima!
