    Peace be upon you,

I have those verses as 5016-18 and I see no mention of the word "malaika" which people somehow translate to "angels".

      peace IF1,

      1. Behold, two (guardian angels) appointed to learn (his doings) learn (and noted them), one sitting on the right and one on the left.

5017when the two Angels charged with taking account shall take it, one sitting on the right hand, the other on the left

5018/19- behold ! sitting on his right and on his left, the recording Angels prepare his record. He utters no word but it is noted by a guardian angel who stands ready by his side.

      1. When the two receivers receive, sitting on the right and on the left.

      2. He utters not a word but there is by him a watcher at hand.

      3. (Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions) .

      4. Not a word does he (or she) utter, but there is a watcher by him ready (to record it).

      5. Behold two (guardian angels) appointed to learn (his doings)
learn (and not them) one sitting on the right and one on the left

      6. Not a word does he utter but there is a sentinel by him ready
        (to note it)

I cannot post urdu translations so I believe these are enough.

      God bless you.

The appointed recorder of memories is the brain.

The left and right hemispheres of your brain very well fit this description.

A clue is the whispering to oneself that 5016 describes - that only something within oneself can record readily - ie. the brain. The jugular vein in the neck also alludes to this mechanism being internal to the person.

The reality you see or that your brain constructs is a projection from the God - you witness the illusion through the apparatus the God has given you; and that apparatus records your thoughts and acts.

        Regards.

          Peace Truth,

Excellent! That makes perfect sense. Woohoo!!
What's really amazing is that in reading "the Holographic Universe" again, I stumbled back upon the rat experiment that pretty much proves this understanding. The conductors of the experiment kept removing different parts of the brain, and the rat kept remembering it's way out of the maze.

Even stuff we think we've forgotten is stored somewhere, it just needs the right stimuli, or the right "angle", to catalyze the memory from the hologram.

          Beautiful stuff bro.

          Peace,
          Tay

fantastic my friend but is this how these verses were being interpreted by
scholars of the past? is this what the prophet was telling the arabs who knew nothing about science, since when do we know about the working of brain? even though it has two hemispheres, the brain is one unit and the verses talk about two recording Angles. the brain does not only record what we think or do, it also records every thing we see about others too and the verses only talk about one individual`s records. the brain can also create fake memories and illusions.
the translation of Quranic verses has always been updated like this with the advancement of knowledge, its a constant effort to make it compatable and logical with changing times. pick up a quranic translations of old and you will see the difference.
            take care.

              you see?

This is another example of verses which fall under the "mutashabih" category.

Note this interpretation by member Truth.

There are many other verses that fall into the same category. Many of those are examples used in the scientific hermeneutic approach to the reading - the division between two bodies of water, the expanding heavens etc. which to the people of time probably similarly meant nothing.

Are we the people of 1400 years ago?

                Peace.

                  Exactly Truth!!

That was my point. The mutashabih verses can have many interpretations. Each human being can interpret them according to his knowledge or the scientific background of his age. These mutashabih verses are the true "miracle" of the Koran. They are the signs that man must contemplate.

                  Peace.

                    Peace,
do the verses imply something about that recording being permanent? Because, for instance, after a brain commotion the recording activity stops dramatically.

                      Peace All,

The recording is for the sake of the Hereafter. How does that recording happen should not be a problem as long as you believe there is a Hereafter. If the person falls in a coma in this life, or loses his brain, I believe then the recording would stop because it won't be of any importance. But the information that was there before that will be retrieved in the Hereafter when the person comes back from the dead.

                        hi guys,
thats an intersting point of view and sounds quite logical too!
yeah, we cant rely on how people interpreted the message given to them 1400 yrs ago. they could have only done to the best of their knowledge.
we need to understand the message ourselvesat the present time, to our best.

                            Peace,

The way the world works and the way your consciousness creates it is something people have been fascinated with since the beginning.

The book that Tay mentioned is one I have read, and the holographic principle is a way of seeing the world in a way that is unique. The brain or in truth consciousness is an amazing thing.

Your brain, with its sensory inputs and thought processes is amazing in the vast volume of data it is able to process and lay down every moment. To think that the brain only operates on a material substrate is wrong. A person can have a whole areas of their brain removed and sometimes show no outward signs.

Consciousness has a non material aspect to it and even though this may not be 'proved' it is not unreasonable that there is a process that records one's complete brain activity into an immutable digest just as the God says.

5147 We constructed the sky with our hands, and we will continue to expand it.

                                      Peace be upon you all,

You think anyone alive 1400 years ago could have thought about the two hemispheres of the brain upon hearing these verses being recited??

The philosophy of ancient egypt, the ones who had enough wisdom to build the great pyramid, understood the left and right brain as evidenced by thier philosophy. They also understood that the left brain has two speech centers by thier assignment of two "dieties" to this faculty.

However, some groups want mankind to think that the African could not think scientifically, so anything before certain time periods is considered ignoran an savage.

The brain theory is interesting indeed. Anyway, I've never figured out why does God need angels to do His work. After all, isn't He Omnipotent, All-Wise?

Peace be upon you M Mehdi,

Yes, one reference is to objective evidence of a science (knowing) at a time when people state there is not this intelligence.

                                          The other reference

I dont need that history to succeed in life, that is a crutch, an idol, and I smash all of them

Refers to the history of a useless word used to ignite the flame (see abu lahab) of emotion, which is opposite to inviting to peacefulness(islam).

One is a stong foundation, the other is a crutch, or a buildingon a sand cliff waiting to tumble down.
