how about a quote or two from one of the most peaceful men in current history...

How about a quote about peace?

Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum...Therefore, he who desires peace, let him prepare for war.

This seems a quotation thread wink

      Here are mine

"To end All Wars, you need to have ONE BIG WAR" - I think Confucious.

from the film Third Man - Orson Welles?

"In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed ? they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, five hundred years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

I love that one...and the Gandh's Eye for Eye is my favourite too -)

      Regards,

        salam,

one of my fav. stories has always been the Ghandi suger story... i'm going off of memory.. so please excuse if it's a bit off here or there.. but i think you'll get the gist...

A woman comes to Ghandi and and asks him to tell her son to stop eating suger... Ghandi thinks about it for a good while and tells the lady to come back in a week and bring her son with her again. So, she does, and when the week comes there they are again.. both mother and son in front of Ghandi... so she asks again.. can you please ask my son to stop eating suger... so this time the Mahatma simply looks at the boy and say "stop eating suger".

The mother is a bit puzzled and asks him.. why he had her come back in week just to say "stop eating suger" .. and Ghandi replies... "because last week, i was still eating suger, myself"..

        peace...

LOL....I heard that story to be from muhammad??!!! shock confusing..lol

        peace

              Hi LoteTree,

              How are you?

I'd like to take the oppurtunity to admit that i'm fascinated by the message within these quotes and many other. I started reading a book by Socrates or Aristotles where he analyzed "dreams" and how they formed. I also took a look at some of Descartes's articles, and i was struck by their writings. Dear god, these men really were gifted. Their writings should be mandatory for everyone to read.

Will you share with me the rest of your favorites?

I'm so sorry Tahira for not sticking to your topic. Can you forgive me?

              nadeem.

"Joy lies in the fight, in the attempt, in the suffering involved, not in the victory itself" -Ghandi

I think this is very true. Both the religionist and those who oppose them taking part in such endless debates, they are living on the agitation, fueling their own sentiments.

It will take some time to prepare Nadeem but I will try to do so in time and put it in the off topic section...

but going back to the topic...

I have heard of faithfreedom site but never been there myself. I remember one of the guys came to 19.org to debate with Edip for a while...

Nadeem i loved the quotes. It makes one realise how much power there is in words. Words can make you sound stupid or clever, right or wrong. They can make you do bad or good , become a leader or follower, make war or peace.

Quran is words and blasphemy is words yet the impact they have on human life is completely different.

Hello brothers and sisters, "muslims" and "Non-muslims" alike.

                          Dear LoteTree,

I'm fine as well. Just finish'd my mock exams recently and i believe it went good, except the last one. The english exam that is. The english itself went great, but the content might have been....stupid. I was asked to write a personal text, i believe i went to personal with it. Oh well, it's not the end of the world.

I really look forward to your quotes-post.

                          Dear Tahira,

Nice to meet you as well.

I appreciate your understanding of words and I certainly do agree. Words can reach your soul, no weapon or medicine possesses this quality.

                          Nadeem.

                            Hi Dear M_Mehdi,

Oh, thanks for pointing that out -) But i must point out(reputation) that it was only a typo as i'm very aware of the to/too rule -)

Oh it was personal. I mean I just let every thought inside of me out, without filtering it with moral and ethics. Thus, I said things I'd never say when in my senses. I'll send you a copy as soon as I get the paper back. But you must promise me you'll not base your impression of me over that paper, do you promise? -) Since I'm not the person one would think after reading that paper.

tv and the too ol daily routine of the chug chug... seem to be be doing a good job working as a weapon - just a thought

Perhaps you're right. Or can we say that "tv and the too ol daily routine" only supresses or blocks the soul, but does not reach it?

btw.. love your sig! too funny..

Thanks, I added yet another funny sig, what do you think? -)
