Why does God always praise and exalt himself with words throughout the Quran?

YUSUFALI Praise be to Allah, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no Crookedness
PICKTHAL Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave, and hath not placed therein any crookedness,
SHAKIR (All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and did not make in it any crookedness.
KHALIFA Praise GOD, who revealed to His servant this scripture, and made it flawless.

      Salam

Praise himself ? That's not what the ayat is saying. If Allah is doing something for Himself, the wording would be as below

When those come to thee who believe in Our signs, Say "Peace be on you Your Lord hath inscribed for Himself (the rule of) mercy...(6/54)

      Kataba rabbukum ala NAFSIHI ar-rahmah...

        Salaam,

God want us to praise Him not the opposite.

Our Creator is worthy our praises, don't you think!?

Why does God always praise and exalt himself with words throughout the Quran?

because He is the Creator . He created EVERYTHING . we are the creation . what have we done to deserve praise ?

like for example , who deserves the praise the skills of the artist or the piece of art ?

the creator or the creation ?

There was an article written by brother Anwar I believe discussing what medium was used to relay al-quran to the messenger.

            You may find it interesting

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

                Peace,

Are you saying He shouldn't praise Himself? I don't get the question.

"And He gave you all that you have asked Him. And if you were to count God?s blessings, you will never fathom them. The human is indeed transgressing, disbelieving." (The Message 1437)

                  Peace,

I think he is saying that why does God seem to show off his attributes, maybe some people don't like that?

maybe the scriptures teach these attributes so that we can learn from them and aspire to be more like that, human nature naturally tries to get closer to the Creator (the Incomprehensible), we try to understand the natural system and phenomenoms in life and the guidance aids us.

                      Peace,

"hamd" is better understood as "sollicitation".

"youssabbihou bihamdi allahi" = "he acts in accordance with the sollicitation of the god"

in 1752, the god calls on us and we should act as he sollicited.

Understanding that we should sollicit from the god (2328 the example of nouh), and that everything created is acting as sollicited by the god (1744) is of more benefit for us than thinking that the god needs our chanting for him, he has no needs indeed.

                        Peace be upon you Someone,

As you rightly pointed out, the issue is our understanding of "hamd".

The God is not an "object", the God is the "subject". The God does not require anything.

Please elaborate on how you understand "hamd". I am not sure I understood "sollicitation".

                          Peace idolfree1, all

                          Solicitaion
1 the practice or act or an instance of soliciting; especially ENTREATY, IMPORTUNITY
2 a moving or drawing force INCITEMENT, ALLUREMENT

I'm unable to find a better word in english to express the meaning of "hamd", but the basic idea is that the use of this word with "sabbaha" (which denotes movement or action or behavior) shows that the meaning of "hamd" is of incitement and urge in following a certain course of action (willingly or unwillingly).

When "hamd" is used from a human perspective, like when we are told to say "alhamdou lillah", it means that we have to show that the one worth of asking or soliciting is and should be the god, not anyone else.

For me "praise" is an empty word, it is used instead of "to thank" to express gratitude, but the arabic word for this is "shokr".

It is a bit confusing, but try to check the occurrences of "hamd" to verify the meaning.

And the god is the more knowledgeable.

Just to clarify this part of my post, the verb "hamida or hamada" is generaly used in today's arabic language to mean "to thank" while there is another word for "to thank" which is "shakara". The 2 words are used in the scripture, sometimes in the same verse, and are understood to have the same meaning ie. to thank or to show gratitude or to praise??, but if we look closer, they are different.

Peace be upon you Nabi and Wakas,

Thank you both for providing those occurences.

I think at this point I am going with "exalted" for "hamd".

I will try to bring it all together in a future post, just wanted to get my position out there for critisism first.

Peace idol-free. I would suggest that hamd is synonymous with obedience.

                                          Peace be upon you Enquirer,

I would not lean towards that becasue we alreaady have several verses that state "hear and obey".
