Peace be upon you CaveMan Doctor,
I agree with the dream logbook and paying attention to details of the dreams. In fact one can even program thier dreams by meditation before bed which is to go into the proper breathing pattern, and to visualize your person manifesting the attributes of the God, or performing a certain function, which will be carried over into your dream to further IMPRINT this event in your "book/script", your NAFS/spirit.
Remember the God does not change the condition of a people until THEY CHANGE what is in thier Nafs/spirit.
If you are not planting seeds in your "magical garden", then someone else is.
Guard your "salaat", at dawn and dusk, the times between awake and sleep.

Peace be upon you,
I got my SAT scores yesterday.
The night before, I had a dream in which i got a 1000 on the SAT, and I was really disappointed.
Does that mean that I was ready to deal with the disappointment?Yes, you are ready to deal with dissapointment, but not particularly with your SAT, you might score the top score, but the point to take notice is that the RESPONSE of disappointment is within your SPIRIT/NAFS, thats why it is being thrown up to your consciousness while you are in a dream state. Your response to all things should be one of PEACE, which brings you happiness, and happiness is the goal of life.
So while it is true that YOU must do the work to interpret your own dreams, there are certain factors that others can speak on , IF what you said is true about your dream, base on your conditionings that are being expressed in the dream. Remember it is a diagnostic test. And in the same manner that we take note of our dreams we should also guard what enters are sphere of consciousness while in the awakened state as well, which are our thoughts and images.
In conclusion, remember, the EXAMPLE has been given to us that Joseph interpreted dreams, dont raist this example to a superhero level , but instead follow the example. Joseph is in all of us if we develop "joseph" by spiritual cultivation, not waiting around for helpers to come produce "miracles". Respectfully to all.
what if i had forgotten my dream?
Yes, REMEMBERING is very important to programming your spirit. We have to eat and live correctly and cultivate the habit of laying in bed and recalling our dreams so that we can gain insight into our SPIRIT/NAFS (subconscious), and use those SCENARIOS to meditate on and reprogram our responses. So forgetting your dreams is a bad habit, once the importance of them are realized. The God has not created any part of life that is meaningless.

Peace be upon you,
I understand what you are saying, but what if being dissapointed with something helps us?
How can inner tension and starvation of your vital organs help you? The statement that stress leads to illness is verifyably true.
if i'm not happy with my score right now, i might try to do better next time to avoid the negative emotions i felt this time.
So then you are working as a slave to the emotion FEAR. Our emotions are meant to follow our WILL, not lead. They are our servants. The logic of that situation would be that in order for you to get a higher score next time you have to have more discipline and study harder, maybe eat healthier and sleep on time since everything is connected. Why does the RESPONSE of dissapointment have to be added to that event? What would happen if you went through that process without being dissapointed? With the proper cultivation of our spirit(nafs) we can get our energies behind us for anything we need to accomplish, but by following them we become slaves to them.

peace
in my experience in dreams
i feel that i recall my dreams later on in the day. And not usually right away when I wake up. Before I go to sleep I ask God That If I have any dreams, Help them be good ones. I also ask God for signs in my dream (And I get them a lot). Like any dilemmas, or questions i have etc.. It's very helpful.
The traditionalists believe that Satan has power our own dreams, what do you guys think of that? I know some of you believe that satan is allegorical for the dark side of man. I believe in a sense he is. But my view is that we get two types of signs good and evil. Good from God, evil from satan, If we choose Good, God is our God. If we choose bad, satan is our god. I hope i didn't stray off topic.
peace, would love your thoughts

Peace be upon you,
In regards to "satan", it is just our emotional nature uncontrolled. This is the realm of the subconscious, or the dark side as they say in Star Wars jedi
What you put in the subconsious is what you get out, and dreams strengthen your conditionings and show you what is in your subconcious. You put in good, you get good, you put in bad, you get "satan".
The subconsious is a ENERGY part of our being, the FORCE. It is very powerful and once you get knowledge of the "Ruh Ul Qudus" (the force), That which moves things towards a goal, then there is a battle to convince you of your destination. May the Force be with you. )

peace be upon you
i believe satan is actually a being (but to each is own). But these things are trivial. What matters is the big picture.
Watching star wars again seems so interesting as The force definitely applies to our monotheistic views. That the more 'peaceful' and good we become the stronger we become. The Dark Side has it's power but it's illusory and leads to eventual destruction. Isn't the Emperor the ultra definiton of Satan ?(subconscious or not)
May the force be with you too brother ! jedi

Peace be upon you,
I dont mean to stay off topic but I wanted to comment
That the more 'peaceful' and good we become the stronger we become
I think that statement can be confusing. Inner strength, yes. But the "force" that is being spoken about is an outer force, it is what the chinese call "Qi/Chi", the Hindus call "Kundalini", and this reading calls "Ruh ul Qudus". It is the LIFE FORCE that moves things around. Knowledge/Truth (along with proper diet and breathing) increases this energy. But once this energy grows, if you are not properly grounded you can trun to evil.
It is thi ssame energy that manifests as Emotions, if you have not cultivated your PEACE mentality (the ability to overcome emotion), then that little donkey that you turned into a Race Horse will drag you around.
Once someone has Knowledge, they can use it for good, or to control people.

since we've (by "we" I mean myself and a few others) been discussing dreams lately I thought I'd give this thread a bump.
by TayThe second comes at times of stress. They are known as nightmares. Emotions play out within the dream, often including people or things that we are close to in that moment in time. These dreams also act as reminders to contact people that may have been filed away into the subconscious. These dreams usually have a reality-based message - it is our consciousness crying out for attention to specific areas. Many times these areas are symbolically represented. My most recent one was of being chased by a vicious dog. When I analysed the meaning and the characters involved, I understood immediately what phase of my life required attention.
Makes sense, I believe(d?) that's what (all) dreams do, but Tay highlighted other types of dreams....I've never actually experienced anything "new" or "unreal" in my dreams, they are all fairly realistic.
