    Peace,

In regards to a few above about sugarcoating the truth?

It?s not a matter of sugarcoating the truth. It?s more a matter of patience. I live in a so-called ?Islamic? country Malaysia. While there are those here that are receptive to the message, culture comes into play. The way that Fee-Minds presents itself (more so up front) comes off to people here as You?re not trying to present the truth. You?re just trying to be westernize Islam so you can do things like drink alcohol.

Not everything traditional Muslims do contradicts the Qur?an or is based upon hadith and they know this. So to tell them everything they do is wrong (or to come off as saying that) will not get you very far with them, even when dealing with Christians and Jews Allah tells use to find common ground. You cannot show someone the truth when they are not even in the same room. No need to sugarcoat anything, just be patient and show them the common ground first.

And we must keep in mind that Free-Minds is not the Message itself but a website that helps to deliver it. And being a website it must function as such. You don?t want people who may be receptive to what is being said clicking before it is said because you were impatient.

    Free-Minds is a website.

    Cheers,

    Tim

Peace budaddy. I agree with the fact that we should work on common ground(and respect) and not try to act as if we are the message rather than a vehicle for it. I repeat we should not act like we have all the truth,we should be humble and willing to learn from anyone.
      Peace.

        Peace enquirer,

I am trying to post as food for thought, and to help improve knowledge, not to threaten anyones beliefs.
Thank you for posting that. This sums up the whole issue. In most cases no matter how nice or polite you intend to be, the receiving end will most likely not appreciate the information you are trying to convey. Remember, you are in a sense, attacking the other party's core beliefs. At least this is how they will take it. By the way, when I say you, I mean generally, not to be confused with you specifically. So here you are telling the other person their whole belief system is not what they thought and probably fought and strived for all their lives. Kinda reminds me of the matrix (of course wink )

Morpheus You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inert, so hopelessly dependant on the system, that they will fight to protect it.

        Generally, people don't like change. They tend to cling to what their comfortable with. Whatever you say, no matter how nice and humble you are, won't change the reaction of the other person. The only reason that person would even think on what you said, is because of God guiding the individual not much credit can be given to the one delivering the message. Here's some verses that I think captures the essence of guidance and non-believers;

        1. Perhaps you are grieving yourself that they do not become believers.
        2. If We wish, We could send down for them from the heavens a sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.
        3. And not a reminder comes to them from the Almighty, except that they turn away from it.

Peace zenje and all. That is an interesting point you have brought up about other people perceiving 'information' as an attack on there beliefs. I however suggest we try to speak respectfully and go out of our way to listen to and understand people(within our limitations). We should also try to get over this labelling,eg non-believer,believer,sunni,etc. How about a theory that states that we all have elements of good and bad in us. When does belief cross over to unbelief and vice versa? I see the quran being used to stop thinking and to justify ones viewpoint, while we should realise that we do not have a monopoly on the truth. Sorry to be so frank, but i expected better from some of those on this forum.
Written Respectfully, and with a view to improvement, not arguement.
          Peace all.
