    Peace all,

SPERM DONATION IS THE PRACTICE BY WHICH A MAN GIVES OR MORE COMMONLY SELLS HIS SEMEN TO BE USED SPECIFICALLY TO PRODUCE A BABY. A man who donates sperm, a sperm donor, usually does so at a clinic known as a sperm bank. A SPERM DONATIONof donated sperm may use such a service for many reasons. The most common reasons are that the recipient's PARTNER MAY BE INFERTILE or HE MAY CARRY A GENETIC DISEASE. Donor sperm may sometimes also be used WHEN A SINGLE WOMAN CAN'T FIND A MALE PARTNER OR A LESBIAN COUPLE CHOOSE TO HAVE A BABY. The cost of donor sperm in the United States ranges from around $200 - $3,000 per vial unit of semen, usually a quantity of around 0.7 ml.

A man donates sperm at a clinic by way of masturbation.

The majority of sperm donors are young men between the ages of 18-25 who are incentivised to donate for the financial remuneration. HOWEVER IN LATER LIFE, MANY DONORS HAVE BECOME CONCERNED AND CURIOUS TO KNOW ABOUT THEIR GENETIC OFFSPRING who might have resulted as a result of their donations. MANY PEOPLE BORN AS A RESULT OF A SPERM DONATION ARE ALSO VERY INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR BIOLOGICAL FATHERS AND THEIR MISSING PATERNAL FAMILY.

Despite efforts to limit the number of offspring from any one man, some donors have been known to donate at several different sperm banks as well as privately via the internet. One man in a posting on a website called the DonorSiblingRegistry.com CLAIMED TO HAVE FATHERED AT LEAST 650 CHILDREN via sperm donation.

In the current era there can be no such thing as GUARANTEED ANONYMITY. Through the advent of DNA testing and internet access to extensive databases of information, many sperm donors have recently been traced and it has made them have to confront how to present the fact that they were a donor to their wife or girlfriend as well as to their wider family.

Many donor-conceived people point out that although a man might have been a sperm donor to their mother and social father, THAT MAN IS NOT A DONOR TO THEM RATHER HE IS THEIR BIOLOGICAL FATHER. Hence, the term 'donor' is not an appropriate description in the context of discussing a donor conceived's relationship to their immediate male ancestor. More accurate terms to use are biological father, abdicated father and male progenitor.

In islamic countries if a wife is infertile the husband is allowed to have a second wife. Now If the husband is infertile SHOULD THE WIFE BE ALLOWED TO ATLEAST AVAIL SUCH FACILITY since she she is not allowed to have two husbands?

quran says that the child should be named after his/her biological father so can the couple maintain secrecy in such cases?

Can a widow who doesn?t want to remarry use this technology?

Since there is no nikah between the donar and the recipient what is the status of the child?

DOES QURAN SAY ANYTHING ON SUCH ISSUE?

    Please comment.

    Peace.

In islamic countries if a wife is infertile the husband is allowed to have a second wife.

This "rule" can not be found in the Quran. In fact, men are not allowed to have more than one wife unless it is for the sole reason of protecting the orphans. (43 & 4129)

Now If the husband is infertile SHOULD THE WIFE BE ALLOWED TO ATLEAST AVAIL SUCH FACILITY since she she is not allowed to have two husbands?

Therefore, the answer to this one is "no".

Can a widow who doesn?t want to remarry use this technology?

Because there is no specific law mentioned against women raising children (of any origin) then it must be allowed. To prohibit what God has not prohibitted is sin. (394 & 732)

Since there is no nikah between the donar and the recipient what is the status of the child?

The child still has a biological orgin of course, and therefore the child should be named appropriately - where possible. (335) There has been contact between the donor and the recipient (sperm and egg), but irrespective of this, the child is still a legitimate child. D

Indeed the ground reality is very different in Pakistan. But what are you trying to say here? That the mullahs in Pakistan DO think that this rule is in the Quran? (Because its not, I guarantee they won't find it). If you're not sure about the multiple-wife rule, then re-read over and over again, analysing all the possible interpretations of the arabic words, and pray for understanding from God. There aren't any other verses in the Quran that deal with the issue, and, you're prohibited from looking anywhere else for religious guidance. (6114 & 3939)

why should she suffer because of the infertility of her husband?
Why should the man suffer because of the infertility of his wife? (In the event she was the infertile one, and he wasn't allowed more than one wife - which he isn't (43, 4129))

From another angle, if God wills that two people marry, and if God wills that either or both of them are sterile, then that's that. That is God's will. And the believers should accept it. And what right do we have to complain about such a non-issue as fertility when millions are starving and millions of orphans are maltreated on a daily basis not to mention the millions more in far worse conditions?

If a couple or whoever really wanted a child, then God willing, let them adopt.

Yes they do, in fact 90% of Muslims in the sub-continent believe a man can have up to four wives according to quran , even though the ratio of men having more then one wife may be less then five percent. In the past a man could marry the second one whenever he desired, but now legally he can?t marry the 2nd one unless he has the approval of his 1st wife. In a male dominated society like our, this permission is not a problem for someone determined, especially in the rural areas.

Naz-(Because its not, I guarantee they won't find it). If you're not sure about the multiple-wife rule, then re-read over and over again, analysing all the possible interpretations of the arabic words, and pray for understanding from God. I am with you on this; unfortunately they are not with you/us, they have their own understanding of 43/4129 and their own interpretation of these verses supported by hadiths.

Naz-Why should the man suffer because of the infertility of his wife?

None of them should suffer. what i said was keeping in mind the male dominated society in which I live, where an infertile wife is a license to have another one.

Naz-From another angle, if God wills that two people marry, and if God wills that either or both of them are sterile, then that's that. That is God's will. And the believers should accept it.

I respect your view but sorry to differ here, I don?t thing that marriages are made in heaven or fertility/infertility is the will of God and we should accept it without any questions , of course if there is no remedy available one has to accept the reality in the end.

Naz-And what right do we have to complain about such a non-issue as fertility when millions are starving and millions of orphans are maltreated on a daily basis not to mention the millions more in far worse conditions?

You said above ?IF GOD WILLS THAT EITHER OR BOTH OF THEM ARE STERILE, THEN THAT'S THAT. THAT IS GOD'S WILL. AND THE BELIEVERS SHOULD ACCEPT IT?. These million who are starving and orphans who are maltreated etc isn?t it God?s will and shouldn?t we accept it as believers?
I 100% agree with you that the issue of fertility is nothing, I REPEAT NOTHING as compared to the real issues you rightly pointed to. Through this thread I just want to know the quranic/islamic point of view on this issue.

Naz- If a couple or whoever really wanted a child, then God willing, let them adopt.

The choice should be absolutely 100% theirs.

            peace.

Sorry to jump in again here, it would be good to have some input from others too. ?

Through this thread I just want to know the quranic/islamic point of view on this issue.
On which issue? There were several, and I believe all were answered with a verse or two from the Quran. Again, some input from others' would be welcome here. ?

However, given that you live where you do, and that Hadith besides the Quran are used, I fail to see how Quranic verses are going to help in such a country(s).

why should she suffer because of the infertility of her husband?

Absolutely. It is not fair that the man can have multiple wives, but the wife not multiple husbands. To sum up, the Quran does not allow polygamy so this really should be a non-issue. However, because Islamic countries allow polygamy for men, the unjust nature of this innovated "fertility" rule is exposed. And there's nothing you can do about it.

These million who are starving and orphans who are maltreated etc isn?t it God?s will and shouldn?t we accept it as believers?
Yes, we should accept it and act accordingly - help out!

I don?t thin that marriages are made in heaven or fertility/infertility is the will of God
"To God belongs the sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. He creates whatever He wills, granting daughters to whomever He wills, and granting sons to whomever He wills. Or, He may have the males and the females marry each other, then render whomever He wills sterile. He is Omniscient, Omnipotent."4249-50 (God also renders whom he wills, fertile. (340))

on the issue of sperm donation and sperm banks.

naz-However, given that you live where you do, and that Hadith besides the Quran are used, I fail to see how Quranic verses are going to help in such a country(s).

people dont agree even on quranic verses , there are different translations of verses by different translators, which at times is confusing for a person like me who totally depends on the translation for understanding.

naz-To sum up, the Quran does not allow polygamy so this really should be a non-issue.

why did the prophet had more then one wife if polygamy is not allowed? ?

the medical science can do that now, they can grant a son or a daughter to whomever they wish.they can resolve the problem of infertility.
yes he is omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent but does he interfere? or help people who desperately need his help?

                peace.

they can resolve the problem of infertility.

I do not think infertility is necessarily a problem, but rather a means of checking population overgrowth. This is why adoption is to be opted for. Otherwise different means will come into play, famine, pestilence, war, etc to check the population.

why did the prophet had more then one wife if polygamy is not allowed?"
Okay, the polygamy issue in a nutshell; (from a QURAN ONLY perspective)

"IF you deem it best for the orphans, you may marry their mothers - you may marry two, three, or four..." 43

"IF you fear lest you become unfair, then you shall be content with only one..." 43

                    ! BUT !

"You can never be equitable in dealing with more than one wife, no matter how hard you try..." 4129

                    Paraphrased;
"You can't be fair, no matter what. If you can't be fair, then you can only have one wife. If orphans are in need, then you may make an exception - (despite the unfairness)."

So it is clear, that for all intents and purposes polygamy is not allowed. Of course, God is seer of everything, and knower of the innermost thoughts. He will be fully aware of any scheming by males to secure more than one wife for the purposes of personal pleasure, or otherwise.

It?s a very odd means of checking population over growth? When one person is deprived of passing down his genes while several others are free to pass them as many times as they wish, then that?s not fair brother. However I agree with you that population overgrowth can cause serious harms if not checked, there has to be a fair balance in population and resources other wise different means which you have mentioned, will definitely come into play. China has a population of about I billion but life there is much better then many small African countries where the balance between their population and their resources has not been properly kept.

                      peace.

You have quoted the translation by dr-rashid khalifa, this is how hillali translated these verses and notic the difference.

                        1. And IF YOU FEAR THAT YOU SHALL NOT BE ABLE TO DEAL JUSTLY WITH THE ORPHANGIRLS, then marry (other) women of your choice, two or three, or four BUT IF YOU FEAR THAT YOU SHALL NOT BE ABLE TO DEAL JUSTLY (with them), then only one or (the captives and the slaves) that your right hands possess. That is nearer to prevent you from doing injustice.

                        2. YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO DO PERFECT JUSTICE BETWEEN WIVES even if it is your ardent desire, so DO NOT INCLINE TOO MUCH TO ONE OF THEM (by giving her more of your time and provision) SO AS TO LEAVE THE OTHER HANGING (i.e. neither divorced nor married)?.

                        naz

its quite clear from these verses that polgamy is allowed with certain conditions.

I do not think so. It is but a means. Not the be all end all.

When one person is deprived of passing down his genes while several others are free to pass them as many times as they wish, then that?s not fair brother.

I disagree. One can have 10 children who are all evil. The true family of the believer is a fellow believer. Read the hadeeth of Noah.

One is told to feed, clothe, care for, and be fair with the orphan. This is the next best thing if infertility is one's lot. I feel it is pointless to bring more children into the world, especially based on modern means, when there are many others already in it who could use a home and good guardians.

So does that mean one should let go the desire of having children assuming they might turn evil?
The trend of having ten children is the thing of the past; I think two or maximum three children are enough today. With few kids there are less chances of them turning evil .

thenabi-The true family of the believer is a fellow believer. Read the hadeeth of Noah.

                            Theoretically yes but practically??

336-..... BLOOD-RELATIONS AMONG EACH OTHER HAVE CLOSER PERSONAL TIES IN THE DECREE OF ALLAH THAN (THE BROTHERHOOD OF) BELIEVERS AND MUHAJIRS.. ..

thenabi-One is told to feed, clothe, care for, and be fair with the orphan. This is the next best thing if infertility is one's lot.

I agree, it is indeed a good thing, but where and if any treatment is available for infertility then it should be the right of the couple to decide. Your can have your own kids and still take care or support the orphans.

thenabi- I feel it is pointless to bring more children into the world, especially based on modern means, when there are many others already in it who could use a home and good guardians.

Nice thought brother, but people don?t normally marry with the intention of adopting and providing shelter for homeless kids, they want to eventually have their own kids however it is always good to support and help underprivileged children.

                            Peace.

                              Peace all,

In islamic countries if a wife is infertile the husband is allowed to have a second wife. Now If the husband is infertile SHOULD THE WIFE BE ALLOWED TO ATLEAST AVAIL SUCH FACILITY since she she is not allowed to have two husbands?

                              Peace mate

the answer is no, but she can easily and successfully seek divorce under islam laws

quran says that the child should be named after his/her biological father so can the couple maintain secrecy in such cases?

no bro, I don't think that it is allowed for males to donate sperms, logically speaking

Can a widow who doesn?t want to remarry use this technology?

i don't think so bro, why she does not want to marry and have a child at the same time?, this must be a confused act of impulstivity

Since there is no nikah between the donar and the recipient what is the status of the child?

I don't think donating sperm is allowed bro, because simply Allah is telling us that He is the one who gives us the children and He is the one who takes it from us, therefore if a woman wants to be pregnant and Allah wants not, then it will never happen whatever she does even if she insered all the sperm in the world in her

DOES QURAN SAY ANYTHING ON SUCH ISSUE?

                              Please comment.

                              Peace.

The Quran says that Allah is in charge of giveing us children and taking it from us, this is good enough for me to even accept and submit to His will that He took it off me, all I can do is ask Him to give me a child through the legal way He outlined in the Quran which is to marry a woman

                              cheers

May peace be upon you agentxxx,

"If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry (other) women of your choice, two or three, or four. But if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with them, then only one..." 43 "You will never be able to do perfect justice between wives, even if it is your ardent desire, so do not incline too much to one of them so as to leave the other hanging..." 4129
Dr. M.T.'s translation paints a different picture doesn't it.

"IF you deem it best for the orphans, you may marry their mothers - you may marry two, three, or four..." 43 "IF you fear lest you become unfair, then you shall be content with only one..." 43 "You can never be equitable in dealing with more than one wife, no matter how hard you try..." 4129
Paraphrased; "You can't be fair, no matter what. If you can't be fair, then you can only have one wife. If orphans are in need, then you may make an exception - (despite the unfairness)."
It would seem that my logical paraphrasal only works with Dr. R.K.'s translation. However, the Progressive Muslims' translation paints yet another picture!

"And if you fear that you cannot be just to the orphans, then marry off those whom you see fit of the women by two's and three's and four's. But if you fear you will not be fair, then only one, or those who are your dependants. This is best that you do not face poverty." 43

Their translation renders it unrelated to one's own personal marriages, but rather to the "release" of orphan girls into society. No mention of polygamy at all.

So it is clear, that for all intents and purposes polygamy is not allowed.
its quite clear from these verses that polgamy is allowed with certain conditions.

Using Dr R.K.'s translation, those "certain conditions" are, for all intents and purposes very unlikely. Other translations do indeed appear to allow polygamy, while another makes no mention of polygamy whatsoever! Mixed bag, eh? ?

you did not answered why the prophet had more then one wife?
Yeah, sorry missed that one. Here we go

There are only several possibilities. (Please match each to their respective translations) lol

arrow Muhammad was "deeming it best" for the Orphans.
arrow Muhammad was 'enjoying' the polygamy laws as revealed.
arrow Muhammed was enjoying polygamy simply because their was not a specific revelation prohibitting it.

what is the status of the child?

ahmedI don't think donating sperm is allowed bro, because simply Allah is telling us that He is the one who gives us the children and He is the one who takes it from us, therefore if a woman wants to be pregnant and Allah wants not, then it will never happen whatever she does EVEN IF SHE INSERED ALL THE SPERM IN THE WORLD IN HER

Your turn to be hypothetical lol

                                          lol

agentxxx OES QURAN SAY ANYTHING ON SUCH ISSUE? Please comment. Peace.

AhmedThe Quran says that Allah is in charge of giving us children and taking it from us, this is good enough for me to even accept and submit to His will that He took it off me, all I can do is ask Him to give me a child through the legal way He outlined in the Quran which is to marry a woman

Brother masha Allah you have kids and I have kids, so may be it is easy for us to say that, but I have a friend who due to some problem don?t have any, four years after his marriage he adopted his niece, She stayed with them for about two years, then because of the dispute over the distribution of their inherited property, the real parents took her away. It was very hard for the couple, now adoption is out of question for them. the couple is going to the usa for medical check up and advise. I hope and pray for their happiness and success.
                                          Peace.

                                          See what adoption can do.

Also mate I'm talking from other muslims perpective who the doctors in australia told them there is no chance in hell that the wife will fall pregnant, her husnabd decided to marry another one for the sake of having children, she was not happy but she is a true submitter to Allah as I sah her, she is a friend to my wife, and before marriage happened, she fell prgenant and now they have 4 chiildren, see, that is what I'm talking about bro

                                          peace be with you
