What is the real meaning of the word 'Allah'?
-
Peace all. I have been pondering over the word Allah(or god.),which is mentioned in the quran. (and in other scriptures under different names.) I have posted many times with suggestions on what this word could mean.(eg is allah love?,or everything that exists?, or reality? etc..) I realise that most definitions are limited because of subjectivity of words, terms and concepts...Especially in relation to the sometimes emotional topic of the divine...
My thinking has lead me to believe that the word allah or god makes sense to mean ; 'a persons individual conscience'...That little voice or feeling that tells us the truth/what to do in any given situation. I feel this understanding fits in with many of the verses of the quran, and other beliefs/philosophies. I would appreciate some feedback from the quranic view, from other scriptures, from other philosophies,or from personal knowledge on whether; god=ones conscience...

god=ones conscience...
peace. Not one's conscience but ONE CONSCIOUSSNESS....

Peace lote-tree. I think conciousness includes conscience...But conscience is a deeper/more complete form of conciousness.(a higher state of conciousness.) Some forms of conciousness(which do not utilise the conscience fully.) can be shallow and illusionary,eg greed, hate and lust.
I believe Conciousness is the constituent/common ground/interconnected reality of all that exists.
I believe in an infinite variety of seperate(though interacting/interdependent.) conscious individuals.
If there is only one conciousness, where does all the conflict come from?

Peace,
As some wise man of the past saidAfter the world of consciousness (HUMAN AWARENESS), One need a quantum leap to reach the world of superconsciousness, where you see the manifestation of prophets and super human beings.
Another quantum leap and beyond that is the world of the cosmic mind where all experiences disappear ? neither ugly nor beautiful, where the experiencer is left alone. Total, absolute aloneness.
And that is the ultimate goal of consciousness, that is where evolution is moving towards.peace,

peace alpha97. Could you elaborate a little more on the world of the cosmic mind, and the 'total absolute aloneness'? Sounds very interesting.

Peace,
No God is not just ones conciousness, we were created through a design that took billions of years. How then could the Creator only be our conciousness? Who build the universe then to your understanding? We weren't there to think it up. It thought us up, so this concept is illogical. God is everything, and He has a seperate conciousness, because He created us before we were ever there. In Quantum physics He is the first Observer, otherwise everything couldn't be in a fixed position. You say that saying God is everything is limiting? And saying He is someones conciousness isn't?
1.There was a conciousness before us that created this universe=so this conciousness isn't us, and is seperate, because it must sustain it all, and keeps on creating conciousnesses.
2.This conciousness created all other conciousnesses, so this conciousness is not every conciousness summed up. Because it keeps on creating conciousnesses.
3.This conciousness has no form, or is represented by just 1 emotion, because it created all emotions, and it created all creation out of nothing, so the creation must be part of it, and so the conciousness is the same as the 'nothing'. So this shows it has no distinct form, and the 'nothing' represents everything there is and not is. A everything, in every aspect infinite.
This is my understanding that is formulated out of logic. God is seperate from our conciousness, because He created us, and was thus before us. He is us, but we are not Him. God is ungraspable, because a bottle cannot contain the whole sea. Stop grasping and limiting people.

Peace arnoldyasin. My question was; 'is God ones' conscience?' I am not asking is god conciousness.(although if anyone wants to discuss this, thats fine too. ) ) Thank you.
Peace. -
hahaha, excuse the non-native-english speaker...........hahaha oepsie...
But to understand conciense, i think this is built in, and is more the part of you that knows already what is good or not. God says we have born-in monotheistic feelings, so people who reject believe go against their instinct, that is why kufr means rejector not unbeliever. So also with conciense. But it is interresting that conciense is not determined by your up-bringing. You can choose by your upbringing to ignore your conciense, just like you can ignore your monotheistic instinct. So it is built in i think. I don't believe it is the voice of God directly, but He built it in that's for sure....
Sorry enquirer hahaha, it was so weird, i was thinking; he? didn't we discuss this already on the topic of being part of God? Ignore the post.....

Peace arnoldyasin. Yes,i do agree, everybody has this built in,natural conscience or inclination to do good.(god.)
And if we ignore it we get into difficulties(hell.)...The trick is to keep referring to the conscience(god.) to achieve success.(heaven.)
peace. -
Yes i agree, but i see it more as a gift of God, then God itself. Just like recgonizing beauty is a gift, falling in love and so on. These are all gifts of God, imprints of God....
But i certainly agree with that if we don't live right, that is the hell, and will bring a even worse life in the next creation. And living right is living heaven certainly..............Peace

peace enquirer,
The wise said that the COSMIC MIND is not to describe, BUT we may have a taste of this ocean, by tasting one drop of it. It tastes as the ocean even if it is incremental.
THE ISSUE is to be researched through experience! NOT the COSMIC MIND , but consciouseness! It gives a good notion of the same flavour.
HOW? Wise said By starting to paint an image of HIS ATTRIBUTES on our heart. By putting them into action of daily life.
By having intense attention of al the daily happenings around us - (one has to start in short intervals and grow)
And buy learning to talk to HIM during prayers and getting certain of HIS PRESENCE through intense concentration and also by meditating.
One starts getting intelligent. (quite different than intellectual).
One gets one step closer to the cosmic mind and the mind stops asking how strawberry tastes? because he then has a flavour of its taste.
peace, peace alpha97. Could you elaborate a little more on the world of the cosmic mind, and the 'total absolute aloneness'? Sounds very interesting.

Peace alpha97. Fantastic post!!! Ive got the taste now. Any more?

Peace alpha97. This is my version;
'He'(your conscience.) is the source of your good.
'He'(your conscience.) is the source of your light.
'He'(your conscience.) is your true nature and source of happiness.

Peace wakas. Do you think the word allah in arabic can mean one 'overall' god,or can it also mean a term for the most important god to an individual?
Peace. -
Peace
I personally believe that regardless of the origin or the literal meaning of words or names like Allah ,Esswar,Khuda,God etc etc they r universal representation of the supreme being who created us.Its amazing that you will find that supremebeing in every language .Regardless of nationallty or ethinicity every one knows that there is a supremebeing even the ones who reject God knows God,s names. We can not judge those names on the basis literal meaning but all of us knows where these names are directed personally i believe its a sign of God.
I personally believe that conscience is the guide to God .We search into different books when the guiding book is already fitted in us in the form of our conscience.Unfortunatlly we ignore our conscience and look for alternatives.Amazinglly every book which claims to be ultimate guidence to God fails some where in a situation or in a circumstance but mirically conscience never fails. It is always there to help.I see it as a sign from God,Concious is universal it didn,t need any special language to understand .We didn,t need any special teacher to learn it.You didn,t required gramiticall perfectness to understand it .Its amazing that God has made it easy for everyone of us .The problem begins when we ignore it and look for manmade resources forgeting that circumstances timings n situation of every individual is different.
Peace.

Peace naxus. Yes,different words and concepts can describe the universal idea of god.
And of course ones personal conscience is the key to guidance,no doubt.I personally believe our conscience is our god.
Peace all. Ps;it is remarkable that our conscience always seems to have good answers, regardless of situation, grammar, language, our level of experience/understanding,our stage of life etc....a big clue i think.... -
