Is the quran your idol?
-
Peace all. In the past few months i have seen people asking for verses showing its wrong to beat your kids, all the way to what is the destination of otherwise peaceful, decent people who dont believe in the quran. I find it astonishing that people need to consult an idol(the quran.) to tell them what to eat, drink, how to marry, how to treat people, whether its ok to pray physically, how to treat their mother of a different religion etc,etc... have you guys heard of your own minds, verifications and experiences?(17;36.) Dont you guys use your natural inclination to good/truth? If i see someone who is peaceful, then i dont really have to argue with him about his beliefs..his behaviour does the talking... The quran contains some spiritual truths, along with a lot of archaic, barbaric, relative,Time based and contradictory information. You guys claim its emphasizes the biggest sin is to indulge continously in idol-worship,...yet you seem to disregard that god can communicate in other languages and ways, and you make the quran the only spiritual centre of the universe and the criterion for everything else.(in other words an idol to refer to.) This is impossible, because you cannot seperate yourself from your own conscience forever, and there will come a time when you may realise that the quran is muhammeds interpretations of nature and morals, and not relevent to everyone and for all times. Why dont you use your own minds as well as muhammeds ideas, and verify them? Just like some sunnis venerate the prophet(which you guys mock and criticise.),well you guys venerate this book instead of god, thus contradicting the message of your own book.
Peace all. Ps;when i say you guys i mean those who want a proof from the quran for everything, and think that human reason/verification is inferior or not needed with regard to the quran.( I realise that many others take good spiritual, relative lessons from the quran by using their own minds, and this can be a commendable and worthwhile activity in generating peace for mankind.) -
Lovely! Thanks for the invitation to participate in the thread. Before anyone starts though, I would like to ask you something...Is it possible to keep it to this thread only? Oh and have you tried experimenting with paragraphs in your posts or breaking them down? It gets a bit chaotic. Just a thought.
-
Peace savage carrot. I will try with the paragraphs...and you try to have an open-mind. ....Just a thought... !

To answer the question quickly
yes it is my idol of guidance
why?
because it is the exact words of Allah
now i have to go to bed and tomorrow inshallah will break up enquirer comment and respond to it bit by bit
good night all
-
Fret not about my mind...what about the possibility of a single thread for your issues? Like this one?
-
Is this your Quran-contradiction thread???
Look, do yourself a favour, google 'contradictions in the quran', you'll do a far better job. This rant of yours merely shows a poor understanding of the subject matter. Cases in point
- find it astonishing that people need to consult an idol(the quran.)
Had you read al-quraan, you would know that it equates adherence to an existential system to the worship of God. Therefore your 'an idol(thequran)' equation is nonsense.
- have you guys heard of your own minds, verifications and experiences?(17;36.)
A good example of seeing what you want to see. This verse tells us that what we follow should be verified through eyes, ears and minds but how do we CLARIFY what we experience? Through 'ayaatun bayyinatun' (clarifying signs) i.e. Al-quraan itself.
3.Dont you guys use your natural inclination to good/truth?
I do, but I verify it with God's absolute valuations. 'natural inclinations' can just as easily be 'destructive desires'.
- The quran contains some spiritual truths, along with a lot of archaic, barbaric, relative,Time based and contradictory information
None of which you dare reproduce here. You lack integrity and it's shameful to the camp you represent. I've known free-thinkers who can actually confront the book but it appears you lack courage to do so.
5.You guys claim its emphasizes the biggest sin is to indulge continously in idol-worship,...yet you seem to disregard that god can communicate in other languages and ways, and you make the quran the only spiritual centre of the universe and the criterion for everything else
Once again, a reactionary response to the situation. No one asserted one needs al-quraan for salvation. Al-quraan itself suggests a multiplicity of paths. What IS being contested here is YOUR inability to confront it and evidence your claim as in part 4 above. If you feel al-quraan is fallacious, PROVE IT. That's all thats being talked about here.
I think i really am wasting time with you. You've displayed academic cowardice and I really don't want keep asking you for evidence. If this was your attempt to tease out al-quraan's mistakes then good on you, hope you knocked your socks off. Peace.
-
Peace savage carrot. Why should i limit my opinions to one thread? Do you or others do that? Are you afraid of the truth?

Why should i limit my opinions to one thread? Do you or others do that? Are you afraid of the truth?
I see, so this is just another one of your threads about the same. Sigh.
-
Peace mquran. Dont get emotional my friend,i have another thread planned for the contradictions... Most of your logic is circular, and your attempted academic character assasination is shallow and laughable.
Why would your god create you with a mind, and then ask you to subvert it or not use it? -
Peace savage carrot. Do you have anything constructive or new to add from your quran?
-
Do you have anything new to add at all? Go start your contradiction thread, at least it'll be better than this old hat, or try to find the one 'albion' posted in the 'quran study' section. It's all been done before.
-
Peace savage carrot. And the quran is 1400 years old,and has also been covered before. Thanks for the link to albion.
-
What a terrific idea for a thread! 'The quran is 1400 years old. Discuss.' Oh wait...
Anyhow, here is the link, I didn't give it to you before-

Peace savage carrot. I hope the thread turns out better than that one,and i hope people have evolved since then...
-
What you consider evolved is probably not a compliment to some people wink
-
Peace savage carrot. Well i may like ice-cream and you may not...Thats no problem...

Hi there,
I do believe that Enquirer has a point.
Even the quran agrees with him
728
And if they commit evil acts, they Say "We found our fathers doing such, and God ordered us to it." Say "God does not order evil! Do you say about God what you do not know?"2104
O you who believe, do not Say "Shepherd us," but Say "Be patient with us," and listen. For the rejecters is a painful retribution.494
O you who believe, if you strike in the cause of GOD, you shall be absolutely sure. Do not say to one who offers you peace, "You are not a believer," seeking the spoils of this world. For GOD possesses infinite spoils. Remember that you used to be like them, and GOD blessed you. Therefore, you shall be absolutely sure (before you strike). GOD is fully Cognizant of everything you do.What is the message here?
Why does god not approve of the excuse "God said so"?
Why does god not want to shepherd us? But to guide? And in the times of quran being revealed, when Muhammed was the commander and it was at Muhammad's word a war or a strike would be declared, how come god says to the believers "No! Stop! Are you sure?". Even though Muhammad gave the order, the believers are said to verify his command. How come?
We are supposed to think for ourselves.
Nadeem.
-
Peace nadeem. Thank you for your eloquent reply. You show that the quran can be used for good,if used in conjuction with the mind, and not taken as an idol or absolute truth.
-
no it isnt. but it is a good reading, that is able to touch me deeply in places.
-
Peace magi. I agree, the quran is not all absolute truth,or even all truth...But some can get some valuable lessons from it. It shouldnt be used as an idol/crutch.
