3 Salat Times

Would just like to share some findings on the Salat timing issue which I would like to get some feedback on...
After discussing the matter, and after re-reading the timing verses, I find a consistency on 3 Salat times being the Scripture, but with a change in the sequence that I believe was a previous error on my part.
Previously I held the view
- Salat Fajr (dawn) 2457
- Salat Wusta (noon) 2238
- Salat Isha (dusk) 2457
However, a closer reading actually shows the following
- Salat Fajr (dawn) 2457
- Salat Wusta (dusk) 2238
- Salat Isha (evening) 2457
The main reason for this change is an examination of verses 5039-40, 5248-49, 20130 which all speak of
glorificationof God at specific timesSo be patient to what they are saying, and glorify the grace of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before the setting. And from the night glorify Him, and *after prostrating.(5039-40)- After prostrating is in-line with the glorification of God outlined in 4103 after performing the Salat
`You shall be patient for the judgement of your Lord, for you are in Our sights; and glorify the praise of your Lord when you get up. Also from the night glorify Him and after the appearance of the stars. (5248-49)
`So be patient to what they are saying and glorify the grace of your Lord before the rising of the sun, and before its setting and during the night glorify; *and at the edges of the day, so that you may be content. (20130)
- Edges of the day are the times of sunrise and sunset, so I am not clear what this repition means?
Now, if we take this view of the 3 times and examine the Salat time verses of 11114 & 1778-79
`And thou shall maintain the bond at both ends of the day, and the near part of the night. The good deeds take away the bad. This is a reminder to those who remember. (11114)
`Thou shall maintain the bond at the setting of the sun to the approach of the night, and the Quran at dawn; the Quran at dawn is witnessed. And from the night; you shall reflect upon it afterward for yourself, perhaps your Lord would grant you to a high rank. (1778-79)
The corallation between the Salat timing verses and the
glorificationverses fits rather tightly.Finally...
If indeed the timing of Wusta is dusk, while Isha is evening (after the appearance of the stars), that would mean that these two times are pretty close to each other (i.e. maybe an hour or less)...Please read the following scenario closely which gives a live description of Salat carried out by the Prophet and his group while they were on a campaign

And if thou are with them and you maintain the bond for them, then let a group from amongst them stand with you and let them bring their weapons; and when they have prostrated then let them stand guard from behind; and let a group who has not yet bonded come and bond with you, and let them be wary and let them bring their weapons with them. The rejecters hope that you would neglect your weapons and goods so they can come upon you in one blow. There is no sin upon you if you are impeded by rainfall, or if you are ill, that you place down your weapons. And be wary. God has prepared for the rejecters a humiliating retribution.

So when you are done with the bond, then remember God while standing, or sitting, or on your sides. When you are relieved, you shall maintain the bond; the bond for the believers is a scheduled book.
The above sounds like a Salat which followed a Salat (they only had time to somewhat rest and reflect and then it was time for Salat again).
I would also say that the
Wustain this case becomes the Salat that needs to be guarded the most as it occurs during the peak of activity/interaction (hence the Salat being called to while people are trading in sura 62 would most likely be this Wusta - which is the same one Solomon missed when he was preoccupied with his horses). -

I am not sure a link can be made between 'glorification' of God and 'salat'. I had assumed for a long time that the glorification was metaphorical and that the meaning was to glorify God all the time. Isn't the context of 4103 salat in times of danger, and isn't the time to do the salat again when the danger has passed.

I read 4103 as a live example of 4101 which gives authority to
shortenthe Salat in times of fear (hence 1 Sajda rather than 2).Peace Wakas,
According to your understanding, please provide the time-range for each "salat".
Salat ends with the performance of the required 2 Sujood/Rakas (or in times of fear only 1 Sujood/Raka).
The time-range within which the Salat is to be carried out ends with the end of the period (so sunrise would end fajr time, night would end wusta, while late night would end Isha).

why do we have trouble understanding the basic message in the quran? what could we do to gain a better understanding of the quran issues concerning salat, and etc...
if salat is not performed are we unlimately disobeying allah? is it in the quran for the rejecters of those who do not bow down facing K'aaba a painful retribution? if allah says in the quran that it is fully-detailed, is straight-cut, simple, why we the most intelllectual beings have difficulty on a certainty?

I will say that we're all different. We are not robots and God created us that way. That is why for me what's a great movie, to you maybe the worst movie ever. It's point of view, our points of view are different, so one can take things different than others.

Yes you are disobeying Allah. It's not in the quran specifically that those who do not bow down facing Ka'aba are facing retribution. Let me recall to you the history of satan, he disobeyed his Lord once, and he was a rejecter immediately. Remember he believes in God alone. We are told by God to 'bow down' and we are told by God to 'face the kaa'ba'. There's no options in submission to God. There's the option to submit or not to. But in the state of submission you cannot disobey a single order.

i have read a lot of verses that deals with "and kneel with those who kneel" and "perform the salat/contribute towards betterment". here is my question which part of the quran states HOW to perform the salat like a verse that mentions that bowing down facing k'aaba and prostrating is part of salat?
about disobeying allah, i think it is those SPECIFIC LAWS in the quran which is beneficial and often ignored, which leads to human failure and demise.

I forgot to mention one another thing. There's a difference between a submitter (muslim) The verses that talk about observing salat are for the Mumins.
Muslims are the ones who submit to the laws of the Almighty. Then once they get good at that, they progress to become 'faithful'. Mumin get raised to higher ranks in the hereafter.Your questions should be answered here

This is the best article on Salat that i have read. All based on the Quran alone.
Specifically the 3 compulsory acts include
- Standing (25.64)
- Bowing (48.29)
- Prostrating (both 25.64 and 48.29)
BTW the order of facing the Ka'aba is in 2144 and also continued in 2149 and 2150.

Exactly. We know that God is not in need of us. Which means anything he tells us to do is for our own good! Remember God wants us to win in the end. Quran is our guide towards victory. So whenever I see a law in the Quran that's how i look at it If it benefits me then I ask how? That's really important in helping us surrender to the laws of the Almighty.

That is why we do salaat - so that God may redeem us all. We received words from him, seven most-repeated verses which every Muslim includes in his salaat to God. They make up the first chapter of the Qur'an, Al Fateha(The Opening.) Its believed that Adam received same words from God. Because Adam built originally the first place of prostration(which is now the ka`bah) it would make sense that they are the same or similar words of that which he had received.

I don't think it is a good article at all. Too many assumptions based on hadith.The word Al Salaat in `arabic comes from the word "to link"(el salawa) which is what Muslims understand salaat to be; a link between God and Man. This link refers to, obviously, a spiritual link instead of a physical one.
OK. Why not take that as a base to understand Salaat.
The author goes back to the traditional meaning of "prayer" and starts again from there. Why?
If you can't break away from corrupt hadith interpretations, if you can't understand the quran through it's context, you will never know what it's talking about. -

Our activities are not without purpose/meaning/benefit. When we understand why we have to do a thing, it will become easy to comprehend how we have to do it.
Allah is talking to intelligent creatures and the language is very simple - all we need to do is to understand why we have to pray then we will know the best way to do it.

TARAF means a side of a thing in which case the edge is the extreme end of the side.
When I divide the day into two sides, I have the left as well as the right sides which I could refer to as Left Taraf and Right Taraf accordingly.
The verse you quoted above mentioned ATRAF and not TARAFAYN like in the other verse of Timing.
If we divide the day into 3 parts, we have ATRAF. If you interprete the ATRAF to mean after the Prostrations as it is mentioned in the other verse, then you get the interpretation as follows Glorify Allah during the 3 Salaat and after the 3 Salaat.

An interesting read...I only disagree with the final section on the # of units as they have been explained in the Scripture as being 2 (1 if shortened).

not necessarily they can be more than 2. IMO At least 2 (depending on circumstances). I think just 5 minutes isn't asking a lot for GOD ALMIGHTY. The quran tells us that in the case of war they shortened their salat, but is that shortage in time? or units?
Glorify Allah during the 3 Salaat and after the 3 Salaat.
My understanding is you glorify God as much as you can, while sitting down, laying down, on your sides, etc... Constantly remembering God and Glorifying him. Since that guards us against evil and puts us in the best place to do righteous works etc.....
3191 Those who remember God while standing, and sitting, and on their sides, and they ponder in the creation of the heavens and the Earth "Our Lord you did not create this without purpose, be You glorified, spare us the retribution of the Fire!"

But does it really says that we shall bow down physically? And what good does that do to you? To bow down physically it feels like I'm doing idolworship of the ground or something else around me.
But to bow down with my soul is different, haven't you heard of that sayings, I have laid down the whole of my soul into this....
And I must say that I agree with Layth about his new findings, I have myself had this understandings for awhile but don't share it with someone. But I was thinking that the night timings was for the mumins not for the muslims. So I had had this understandings of 2 salat times for muslims.

if you are referring to the article about the physical bowing and prostrating, let me tell you that the article isn't that good. read my previous post about it.
I'm leaning more towards 2 salat times than 3. but i havn't decided yet. But again, knowing the times is useless if we don't know what salat is. -

Excellent ijtihad on your part. By breaking down the arabic in the aya you have made it quite simple for others to understand exactly how many salawat are needed during the daytime hours.
