Salaam sis Myr,
Oh surely, none of the blessings given to us must be taken for granted!
Geting sterlized for me had no sense of (Having no more use for it). but that of becoming eventually aware that there is an other Divine choice! I would say the submitters adopt so much childeren so that there would be no orphan left alone on the face of earth! I am giving a picture of DIVINE SOCIETY! with that ideal in mind, if i become young again with the present mind-set, if agreeable for my partner, i would choose for adoption and i will be thankfull to GOD for granting me that privilage to take care of HIS orphan creatures!
Even though; your point is still valid! and one should contemplate on this deeply before choosing direction!peace,

Peace Myr
For those who think they had enough children and proceed with extreme solutions to get rid of their God given fertility, God the All-Mighty may test you by calling back to HIM your children.
Absolutely right. That's why reflexion is necessary before such an extreme step. And if such an awful thing really happened, one has to endure and assume - mostly what life is about anyway.

Salaam Myr and all
Having children should never be an excuse to not adopt or take care of the orphans.
I can'y agree more.
I have three grown up chidren and I am sponsoring a child from Africa. My daughter is also sponsoring a child. In fact it was through her that I got in touch with "Plan International".
As for using contraceptives of any kind or even deciding on having an abortion, I do not know of a verse that prohibits that except if it is done for economic reasons (Kill not your children because of poverty, We provide sustenance for you and for them)6151.
I understand "your children" as to mean the unborn, since the born ones fall under the category of (kill not the soul Allah has forbidden except for a just cause) same verse.

Salaam all
Sorry for the delayed response (just browsed this topic). Couple of points
Sex for children and not pleasure does not conform to natural state of affairs (even excluding infertile couples). Female fertility is aged limited and women are unable to have children via sex after menopause (when periods naturally stop). I hope no one is sugesting that they should avoid sex.As for vasectomy and sterilisation thay are both reversible although not 100% successful. in good hands just over 60%.
However even without reversal it is still possible to have children via IVF. I hope this clarifies someones earlier query.regards

I can't believe my ears when people consider sex to be something "filthy" or "nasty" or whatever you want to call it! We are all grown people I assume and we all know (I hope) that sex is more than just for reproduction and getting rid of lust. Sex is not only that, but it's about sharing your love for each other in a physical way! Come on guys! We people see it as filthy or nasty because that's the way it has been taught us most of the time! I learned that it's not filthy and/or nasty. We don't have to be ashamed of it! Sex is all about SHARING LOVE. IF the end product is the creation of another soul, than that's only a good thing (I hope). D

Peace,
Yeah sex is a wonderful thing. Infact im thinking about it right now. GOD Bless!I'm somehow not surprised ) jk was the only one to message me about my recent avatar change.
Latifah you're right that sex is something there is no need to be afraid of and is fair game for open discussion however, it is something too liable to be hyped I think. The trap I find many young girls fall into is to imagine sex in very idealised ways. Sex is a wonderful but rather small aspect of life. At some points in life it can become much more or seem to be almost everything but it's not.
I too share your position against people who think of sex or other natural human things to be taboos. But sometimes it can get a bit much. I dislike women's magazines that seem to rerun the same stories about sex with different twists every so often. I think they seriously damage the true conception of sex in many young women's minds. They misrepresent what sex is and what it should be. Sharing your love in a physical way like you say is one thing, attempting to climb the sexual equivalent of Mt Everest is another. To reach those dizzy heights (or even get close) sometimes one gets to boundaries that can prove very challenging to the unprepared.
So yes, calling sex filthy or nasty is wrong but hyping it up is another trap for the unwary. It really is a very small thing in your life overall. If you count up the minutes you'll ever spend making love and compare it even to the time you spend sleeping its a very very small percentage. Sometimes sleeping can be better, but only sometimes )
Peace.

Peace bro "truth",
...Sex is a wonderful but rather small aspect of life. At some points in life it can become much more or seem to be almost everything but it's not...
JK- Thats why i beleive GOD mentioned in the Quran
We enjoined the human being to honor his parents. His mother bore him arduously, gave birth to him arduously, and took intimate care of him for thirty months. When he reaches maturity, and reaches the age of forty, he should say, "My Lord, direct me to appreciate the blessings You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents, and to do the righteous works that please You. Let my children be righteous as well. I have repented to You; I am a submitter."
GOD knows human behaviour is very volatile expecially at a younger age and so we do not become properly mature until we are around 40. Science has also shown that the age of 39 is a turning point in human psyche. GOD Bless! -
Peace bro "phoenix",
truth, when I first looked at your avatar, a certain female body part came to mind. I thought I'd mention this since sex and your avatar were brought up.
JK- I have to thank you again since bro "truth" thought i was the only one who gets such what he termed as "perverted/sick" thoughts. I even told him that if the image wernt rotated 90 degrees in this way then my brain would not have recognized it in the way it did. GOD Bless!

So...what proof is there that castration is forbidden?
Is it "altering the creation of Allah" per se? What about getting your tonsils removed, or extracting teeth? How about losing 50 pounds of fat?
Besides, that verse, as far as I'm concerned is talking about religion, basically "belief in there being 1 god" and is not referring to your physical appearance, or whether or not you have balls. What if a person gets castrated to be free of sexual desire because it's getting in the way of his life/making him feel bad because no one WANTS to have sex with him? I guess this is why hadith advocates rape.
Another question I have is where in the Quran does it say having feminine characterstics is forbidden? Like earrings and long hair, etc.

I was very open to adoption. Regretfully, when I had my own first child and I and to think of a possibility of adopting a second one, I found out I could not do it. I did feel ashamed that I could not carry out what I feel is such a noble deed, but I guess its better to be honest than to let a child possibly suffer. So to all of you who do adopt, I really do admire you.

Peace,
I have a question for any of the guys out there, do you have a natural desire for procreation? I ask because I have absolutely zero desire for children. I think children are great, but simply do not want any of my own. Luckily, my wife and I are young enough to where even 5 or 10 years down the road she can still have them, but I do not foresee myself ever wanting them. Quite a big issue too, for my wife thinks someday she will want them.
Back to the original question, is it normal for men have an instinctual desire for children (like many women do), or is it a predominately female thing?

I'd post this again but I might as well just link ya'll to it
http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=13771.0In you can, PLEASE adopt.
Adoption laws change from state to state and people who previously couldn't adopt now can. Even singles can adopt nowadays. There are many agencies and adoption attorneys who are willing to work with every type of person and situation. Don't give up, aly-sam! ^_^
