Singular of ka'bain in 5:6
-
Peace,
I also had several discussions that k'ab refers also to base/foundation/something that supports. Which i'm still investigating.
If this is true, then 597 really becomes interresting.God made the foundation, the House/Home the Respected/Sacred standing(=the Deen) to (for) the people and the restricted the month and the offering and the necklaces , that to know that God knows what (is) in the skies/space and what (is) in the earth/Planet Earth, and that God (is) with every thing knowledgeable.
So the House that Abraham build is the Deen, submission, and it is the foundation for the whole humankind, as the Deen respects all walks and faiths on earth, but only under the law of the Quran people of the earth will truly be free.
I would like people's opinion about this meaning of k 'ab.
Peace

Salaam all
Thank you so very much
I am glad I was of help. You are welcome.
According to lisaanul 3arab dictionary, the ka'b is the protruding bone at the joint of the foot and the leg. Only animals with four limbs have this part called ka'b. Since four-legged animals use all four limbs to walk, this bone is more accentuated and is also called ka'b in in their fore limbs; so animals have four ka'b. As for humans, the bone in the arm-hand joint is not called ka'b but "risgh" or kuu' .
A cubic room (fem.) is called ka'ba, comparing its four corners with the four ka'bs of an animal

Hello all
it should be noted that Kaab, as for the heel, does the heal look like a cube? sure it does not

No, it does not. But the space between the forelimbs of a standing animal roughly does.
Salam sister
sorry sister, is the verse of the wudu talking about animals or humans?
cheers

Peace,
I was checking around with other people to see if ka'b also fits with base/foundation, and i got this answer back from Ayman
"Yes, the word "ka3b" means base. This is the common thread that runs
accross the different forms and their meanings. For example, the word
"ka3b" can mean heel (the base of the foot). It is also used in rural
areas of Arabia as "ka3b al-wadi" (the base of the valley). The word
"muka3ab" means cube (a shape with many bases). The word "tak3iba" means
the base that grape vines climb on. I still need to research "kawa3ib"
but it probably has something to do with having a strong base (not large
breasts as traditionalists contend). In the context of 597, the house is the base for humanity. To
understand this, we need to understand the purpose of the house as a
place to safely assemble and remember The God. I don't think that "bayt"
(house) is the same as "deen" (obligation). Our obligation is to
institute/implement the hearing and obeying of the forbidden. So "deen"
is "al-masjid al-haram" not "al-bayt". The "bayt" is one of the means to
accomplish the institution/implementation of hearing and obeying of the
forbidden." -
and why you left 595 without explanation brother Aranold?

Peace,
Because i need to get a better understanding of it all. I'm just researching, and i haven't had a good concept of that verse.

This thread was started by sis Brook. I believe she wanted to establish a linguistic link between ka'b = ankle, and The Ka'ba. It was not about wadu', nor was it about verse 56 only, but also 595/96.
Why don't you re-read the thread when you think something is not in place, instead of jumping to the conclusion that people are out of their mind?

Peace,
Chill people. Samia, although his first post was not that friendly, his second post wasn't how you recieved it. He only refered to if 56 talks about human ankles or animal ankles to give his point how he sees the use of ka'b.
So although me and AB differ a lot, i have to say your last post was a bit unwarranted. The first reaction to his first post was enough on his first wrong approach to you. No need to slash to all of his posts.
Please let's make this a friendly forum. I'm sick of this unfriendly enviroment where people get threatened with hell and how God is going to be mad at them.
This is a place to learn, not to attack.

Yes, I was checking to see whether there was a linguistic link between ka'b in 56 and ka'b?te in 595 and 97 rather than only ablution. Thanks to Samia's explication now I know there is alink. I am still studying the relevant part of Ayman's article. If I fail to understand any points, may I request discussing them here? In the meantime will you please keep respectful and calm.
By the way, I am male. Brook is translation of part of my Turkish surname, cay (chi).

Peace Hasan Ackay,
Do you accomplish anything with your research ?
There is a discussion here on the same subject of my curiosity http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9188.msg222602#msg222602.
My objective is to ascertain the most accurate definition
From the posting, Samia conclude that Ka3bain is plural of Ka3b.
Using comparative analysis, "maraafiq" (elbow) in 56 above was not structured equally against "Ka3bain" (Dual). This evidence shows that the meaning "base" is much unlikely, if quranic definition is to be considered.

Where did I conclude that ka3bain is plural of ka3b?

Yes, that's correct ka'bain means two heels, ankles. One heel, ankle is ka'b.Sister,
Truly you are always mindful of what you write. You said ka3bain is dual not plural. ka'b is one ankle and is also referred to that protuberant bone of the foot where people tie laces of their shoes.

I do not quite understand your point. Do you mean to say the meaning of "base" is unlikely in 56 only or in general? See here for example

http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9837.0How could both be structured equally? Hand has one elbow while each foot has two k'ab, one on each side.
