Arab messengers
-
Prophet Hud ('Ad)
Prophet Saleh (Thamud) Successors to 'Ad
Prophet Shu'aib (Madian)
Prophet Hud (Yemen) Not necessarily Arab

Peace be upon you,
So one part of the world had a monopoly on prophets, that must bring in a lot of money for tourism.
Which one of the prophets was Chinese?
These are metaphorical stories to bring out life lessons. Dont make them literal or you will be saying that the God plays favorites amongst the "races".
-
And if you make the whole Qur'an metaphorical then you're heading to a very bad place indeed...

Peace be upon you,
And if you make the whole Qur'an metaphorical then you're heading to a very bad place indeed...
Where is that? The same place all Chinese, African, Puerto Rican, Mexican, ect people go since they did not have the great Jewish/Arab Prophets to come to them? Nor experience amazing miracles?
-
Islam certainly does not advocate such beliefs and my assertations that those particular prophets were Arab or were from Arab areas certainly doesn't imply what you're saying.
The Prophet Muhammad was an Arab is this racial bias on Islam's part? Or are you going to say that the prophet did not exist also?
Yoou are mistaken in your views that Arabs are a race. Arabs are not a 'race'. An Arab essentially is one who speaks Arabic, Arabic is the clear unifying language of Islam like it or not.
There are African Arabs not only in the Maghreb but also further down into black Africa for I am sure that is what you are implying.
Every person has the ability God willing to become an Arab just like my own ancestors in Iraq who previously spoke Aramaic, just like brother Ahmed Beghat's ancestors who previously spoke Coptic just like the prophet Muhammad's Ancestors who surely spoke whichever language that was spoken by Ambraham.
You jump to conclusions too quickly...

Well, he could answer you by saying that he will be going to a metaphorical place. Joke aside, the Quran does not give us an exhaustive list of messengers/prophets and informs us that all nations received messengers and their names are not mentioned.
So, the Quran refers to the messengers/prophets that came in the Middle East. Since, all messengers are considered "umma wahida" (one nation), absence of mentioning their name does not make much difference.
Peace,

Indeed D
Quran does not give us an exhaustive list of messengers/prophets and informs us that all nations received messengers and their names are not mentioned.
Quite right

Exactly, and Muslims are a middle people to bear witness on the rest of humanity, if you take the Middle East as the place where the first of civilized humanity existed and where the garden of Eden was then this is not so unbelievable, yet these things should not be needed for such.

Peace Al-Quraishi
Arabic is the clear unifying language of Islam like it or not.
I would say that Arabic is the language of the book "the quran", though I would not consider any verbal language the language of islam, imo ones actions would best speak islam. Talib Kweli has summed this up nicely in; "We all speak a different language, but are still pretty familiar with what anger is"

-
Yes, that is what many arabs want it to be. Guess it's kind of a new chosen people syndrom.
Is it hell...
Whether you like it or not, Arabic is the language of the Qur'an, thus the obvious unifying language of Islam.
That is why they invented things like ISLAMIC NAMES for your babies which in fact are Arabic but so many bite into that.
What are you going on about and what does that have to do with this? What is an Islamic name? And how many Muslims actually advocate such a belief?
There a lot of people here who are full of prejudices and have a lot of predermined views about others...
-
Peace
I seems to remember that the Quran states that Mohammad was sent to a people who never had any messengers before. are my memory playing tricks on me?
-
Peace be yupon you,
Arabic is the clear unifying language of Islam like it or not.
Hmmmm, I always thought Abraham, Noah, Saleh, Musa, etc were part of "Islam". Did they speak Arabic also?
These are metaphorical stories. Dont worry about believing in people you can never verify, just like Santa Claus and Big Foot. Messengers and Prophets are the potential for ALL human beings, thats what is being said to you if you can get beyond the trick of "chosen people" syndrome.

Peace Al-Quraishi,
C'mon man really... arabic is no better than any other language, they're all just symbols that attempt to convey thoughts. One symbol cannot be better than another, and simply because the Quran is in arabic should not limit Islam to being an arab religion. I don't know if this is what you meant. Not that I follow Islam or any other religion or way of life, well I guess I do in certain respects, but not because I try to. As to your comments towards Idolfree1, I don't know why you pretend to know what happens if you take the Quran metaphorically. You and I both know that you have no idea. It's cool, I can tell you're going to act all serious towards these comments, just remember you're playing a role and so am I, but we're the same in the end; and if anything take what I say lightly, like Idolfree1 did towards your comments. > -
That is too bad (the inability to read/understand arabic), you are missing much of the beauty of The Message.
I believe that whoever is serious about Al Quran should learn to read and speak Quranic Arabic, then you will get information first hand instead of relying on others, Arabs or otherwise... -
Peace noble,
that's what i thought some time ago as well. But not anymore. On many crucial points even the arab speakers - learned or "original" - are not able to get to an even understanding. And it is the discussions here at free-mind that taught me that.
