When Is Ramadan in 2007?

Peace Ayman, Sarah,
Thanks Ayman for the correction.
Sarah, the burning full moon of the scorching heat in Australia will be the first one after December 21, because Australia is in the southern hemisphere and summer solstice there is December 21. This year it was supposed to be on January 4, 2007 and January 5, 2007 was the first day of fasting. Sorry for the late reply, I just saw your post. It is no problem, you can make up the missed day/days later on. Happy fasting for you )

aren't we supposed to start the fast on the same day every year?
we celebrate new year on the same day, we celebrate birthdays on the same day every year, we have wedding anniversaries on the same day.and Qur'an being sent down is an important thing and we have to fast in the month it was revealed in.
so does that mean we have to start fasting whenever within that month?
or do we have to start on the same day every year? -

well that's my point, it shouldn't shift.
and how much does it shift by? a day, a week...?those sunni and other muslims that follow the traditional ramadan change a month every 3-4 years. sometimes they say ramadan is in november, in a few years it's october and so on...
how am i supposed to know what month the Qur'an was started being revealed in?

It shifts because your working on a different calander. For example this calender goes for 365 days and in a leap year feb has an extra day, so what happends if you're born at the end of feb in a leap year?
say for example in another calander system it last for 340days or something the new yr will start after 340 days, it wont be the same new yr as this calander system because it goes by different days.
so really it's the same day, it just shifts with this calander system.

ok fine, let me put it like this.
they say ramadan means the hottest month, scorching month, so i would say that was when the sun was closest to arabia and that day we now call june 21. you know, you look up and the sun is right up there. i guess that's why it's the hottest month.when the Qur'an was revealed lets say the sun was at a position where it is when we say it's june 21., it's right above arabia. and one day these traditionalists that go by the moon calendar will say in late june( when the sun is closest to arabia and the northen part of the earth), they'll say something like "today the ramadan starts"
and many years will go by( i hink it'll be 18-20 years) and these same people will say on late december(when the sun is closest australia and the suthern part of the earth) they'll say something like "today ramadan starts"
and if they live in arabia, once they'll look up and see the sun right above their heads and say this is hottest month, today ramadan begins. and with years they'll look up and see the sun far south (where the sun would be positioned in december) and they'll still say today ramadan begins.
now if the Qur'an was started being revealed when the sun was at a position where it would be on june 21. why are they saying ramadan starts when the sun is at a position where it would be in december?
