Allah?s Mercy
-
Every creature on Earth knows its Salat=following of the Laws so it can do Tasbeeh=striving on its mission
-
99% of the creatures that Allah created are now extinct!!
By knowing this how can you justify the claim that Allah is merciful!?Some times a simple question here is answered in such a manner that it becomes complicated.
But you should have clarified that you want an answer from Muslims point of view or generally/scientifically??
If with Muslims point of view then it is very clear that NO one dies it is only mutation which takes place, and that is a cycle which continues up to a time.
Every object it seems has a biological age.Islam defines death as a mandatory transitional event in between the ?life before death? and ?life after death?. So if we integrate the scientific aspect with the description, the definition of death for a Muslim would be the absolute disappearance of the functions for the time period in between the two lives ? one before death and another after death. As a result it abandons the permanent and irreversible criteria of the ?end? in the concept of death with the help of the concept of the life after death.
In very simple words, death is the end of life. So in this simple definition another term is needed to be explained and that is ? life. For human being, life is the existence of an individual. If we take the term existence as an easily understood one, as because not each word can be explained in a limited opportunity, we can now define death and that is ?death is the end of existence?.
In medical science, death is the permanent and irreversible cessation of all vital functions namely the brain function, the respiratory function, and the circulatory or heart function. So the medical definition further elaborates the two aspects of the usual definition, ?end? and ?existence?. Thus, for death, ?end? represents something permanent & irreversible, and ?existence? is mainly represented by functioning.
I agree with NAdeem in his first part of sentence
Death is not an act contrary to mercy

Peace Angel,
Her life is just as important as anybody else?s.
How does this fit with the notion (you yourself agree with) that the value of life diminishes without emotion. Terry Schiavo did not have emotions, so it is said, after she was admitted.
Terry Schiavo lost her emotions the very same year I was born (1990), was her life worthless after that year and the following 15?
Do not become constricted by the specifics of this one case, as her wish to do die or not. I'm simply trying to use certain aspects of her case to better evaluate the subject at hand.

Nad I just don't have a problem with euthanasia, regardless of what Islam says about it. It's a private matter and should be up to the individual IMO. But Terri consciously made the decision that she wants to die, which most of Allah's creatures do/did not have.
peace be upon you.

Allah is the one who gives life and takes it, we have no right to commit suicide, including "euthanasia".

Peace Angel,
The matter was never about euthanasia, it was never a question of Islam, and it definitely did not have anything to do with Terri's choice. It was about emotions. Terri was simply a real life example of a living being without emotions. I just wanted you to grasp what it is that you are suggesting A living being is worth less if it cannot feel.
Why are you having such a hard time answering my questions?
Was her life less worth than yours, or mine?
...
Terry Schiavo lost her emotions the very same year I was born (1990), was her life worthless after that year and the following 15?Why don't you say that Terri's life was less worth, when that is the direct consequence of your notion?
You do not really believe what you are suggesting, do you?

Salaam,

Yes but I don't like poking my nose into other peoples business, so if they wanna commit suicide, I say let them.
And Nadeem I am mystified to where you got the idea that I thought that Terri's life was "worth less".
-
The Terri Shiavo case shows the problem with society if polygamy is not allowed. If someone's wife is permanently in a vegatable state, he would naturally want another wife for his family. But because in America polygamy is against the law, he ended up supporting the murder of his own wife (which is allowed ironically, yet again showing the moral corruption of the West).
Yes but I don't like poking my nose into other peoples business, so if they wanna commit suicide, I say let them.
Preventing sin and crime should be everyone's business. Suicide is against the law, its nothing short of murdering yourself, but its still murder. Furthermore, it is a major sin in Islam, the punishment in Hell is that the suicidal person will have to endure his mode of killing himself for all eternity. Sometimes the best interests of a person is not necessarily what they want.
-
Peace Angel,
I asked you "Does the value of a living entity diminish without emotions?"
To which you answered "Nad, yes it does.".
If Terri was indeed a living entity without emotions, then according to your answer you should consider her life to be of less worth.
I don't understand why don't see the connection?

Sorry, when you said a "living entity without emotions" I thought you meant cells lol
But if animals don?t know they are going to die (as many existentialists claim) then the process is not going to be as painful, which makes their extinction more tolerable, but it does now reduce the value of their existents/lives.
And Yusha what people do with their own lives is their own business, unless they are harming other people we have no right to intervene.

If God didn't want us to eat animals, he would not have made them out of food!
-
Hi,
Unless they are harming other people
if they wanna commit suicide, I say let them
When a parent finds out their child committed suicide ? yes it would harm them, and may be irretrievably.
And thinking about any suicide yes it can harm other people.
with respects i think people a little grown up realize this more then others.
God Bless.
-
whether a person wants to live or die its up to them, they are NOT their parents property, ofcause some parents have difficulty understanding that.
But if they had children which are dependent on them then it would be a foolish thing to do.
i am unapologetic on my stance on euthanasia

I think personally it is only okay if ever need arises in a case and only if no one else knew you did it- then of course its between you and your maker and your actions will not have effected anybody else, but that is just my thoughts.
Gods Blessings on All.
